What Star Fox tunes should be in Smash Bros?

21 posts in this topic

^^ Is this all that needs to be said, or what do you think should've been in Smash Bros ages ago?

Somehow, I managed to figure out how that can work. XD

Certainly those two, along with Krystal's, Lucy's, and, possibly Amanda's themes from Command. A medley with the credits for the SNES Starfox (most likely would be only 1, but if 2 were also in, I'd go crazy!) and the 64 credits. The 3DS credits would also be a nice consideration, depending on the stages chosen (would go great on an Algebraic Sector or Saurian stage).

Sector Omega from Zero is great.

Would be cool to see the SF2 version of Star  Wolf's theme show up too.

Maybe for lulz SNES Fortuna, its a funky beat.

@geoprimedonnaStarfox's credit's theme was already done, and 3DS's cre- (remembers the NEXT credit's section) - Oh yeah.

@Robert MonroeIf it sounds anything like this...

... I'll be happy. ^-^

Umm... Hate to say this, but I have to be honest: I'd prefer most of the songs to be from a game from the series with a better reputation than a "trainwreck" game. For example, you don't see many Super Mario USA, or Metroid: Zero Mission songs in SSB. Why? Bad reputation, so it's not even worth highlighting its existence.

@geoprimedonna Zero Mission was a horrible game? Are you f*cking kidding me!? Besides, reputation or no, if it's got good music, put it the f*ck in, no questions asked.

Aaaand speaking of trainwreck, I just said the wrong Metroid game... I was referring to the Wii one, I am certain that the name was similar, and I messed up. I was also too lazy to look it up on Bing. Shame on me. *facepalms self infinitely*

I made my point clear, though: games with bad reputations have few songs in Smash, if at all. Take a look at some of the unlockable songs in previous installments to see it in action.

Okay, I think we're starting to get just a little bit off topic here...

@geoprimedonnaYeah, you're talking about Other M. Believe it or not though, they made an entire stage from it, and several tunes from it! All of which suck, imo! So once again, reputation, my ass! XD

@FookesTrue. There's actually a ton of tunes I'd like to see from Star Fox Assault, especially the VS ones:

This one especially, since 4 has Orbital Gate:

Matter of fact, jesus! Just put 'em all in! XD

Other M doesn't have any music in Smash Bros because Other M doesn't have any music in Other M, HA.

Also, Mario 2? Are you fucking dense?

ALSO THERE IS A STAGE BASED OF SUBCON IN MELEE

AND LIKE, A TON OF ICONIC MARIO ENEMIES ARE FROM SMB2. Bob Ombs. Shyguys. Sniffit. Fucking BIRDO. Duh?

Bug off with your scoogy goddamn Zero hate wagon because no one wants it here.

This shit is j a m m i n g.

@Robert MonroeTo be honest, I really feel like a lot of Star Fox Zero's music is too trebly and echoey. Needs more basslines.

Despite this, I want 5 TUNES from it in the next Smash. 5!! Including the greatest loop of all time, the loading screen. o-o

I'm not even kidding. This is 16 seconds of pure tearjerking goodness. TT_TT

Well yes, the actual composition might not be perfect, but Smash music tends to be rearranged in its own way anyhow so I'm more focused on music for its core tune instead of the specifics of its composition, which is why I'm avoiding most Assault tracks: aside from the admittedly good multiplayer tracks, most of that game's music is just rearranged 64 tunes.

Anyway, another Zero track I'd like is Return to Corneria:

Hey! I already posted that song!!

In all seriousness, I'd LOVE to see Return to Corneria! As I said, it has definitely got to be one of my favorite SF songs. Heck, I still listen to it on my phone when I'm bored sometimes!! XD

2 years ago, I made the biggest mistake I could ever have made as a gamer, and that was to go competitive.
Smash Bros used to be among my all time favourite franchises, finding so much joy in unlocking tracks, characters, stage parts (Brawl), then in Smash 4, I decided to try the online features. All I wanted to do then was keep trying, and up my win rate. The more I did it, the less I achieved, the angrier I got at myself, and the more I hurt myself. It got to the point where I would have to warn people of how I normally behave when playing Smash nowadays, and I would spend far too long in such a depressing mood trying to decide whether or not I want to take the risk of displaying my 'normal' behavior again when I feel like playing it.
Now this behavior is extending beyond that game. A long time ago, I tried going competitive in 2012 and 2013 Call Of Duty games for the Wii U. The exact same behavior occurred, and it's worse here, because now I feel that if I can't accomplish something on hardened difficulty, I can't play COD at all. I deem myself unworthy of playing the game.
But what's really getting me to ask this question now is that this behavior is now extending to games that aren't even competitive.
It occurred to me a few minutes ago that I just hurt myself while playing what's supposed to be a fun and harmlessly challenging platformer called Shovel Knight: Specter Of Torment. I was now deeming myself unworthy of being able to represent my favourite character, Specter Knight, because I made too many mistakes, died too many times, and lost too much gold.
And now for the question: Why can't I stop feeling so ashamed of myself for failing?

I've mentioned Star Fox online's twitter saying "Mine would be 'Never give up. Trust your instincts.'"
Sound off your favourite quotes right here, and let's give Star Fox 64's 20th birthday a welcome celebration!

Today Nintendo unveiled the long-suspected sequel to last fall's NES Classic. Like it's predecessor, it is a compact unit shaped like it's namesake, with a number of classic titles pre-loaded. And also like it's predecessor, it will undoubtedly be rarer than hen's teeth when it hits the shelves September 29, 2017, retailing at a nice $79.99. 21 titles have been announced, all classics: Super Mario World, Earthbound, Mega Man X, F-Zero, Super Mario RPG, Star Fox 2, etc.

      Yes. You read that right.

Star Fox 2, the game Nintendo has basically ignored and swept under the rug since 1995, will finally see the light of day on the SNES Classic, alongside it's beloved predecessor. Now, of course, fans have had access to the game since the late '90s, and it's pretty easy to find a completely playable ROM on the internet. However, developer Dylan Cuthbert has alluded to a different, even-more-complete build in interviews, so it remains to be seen which version of Star Fox 2 will be included. Whether it's the one we've come to know and love, or something completely different, it's just amazing that it's getting an official release. Heck, even having the original Star Fox on there is great, in and of itself, since copyright issues (and technical issues as well, I believe) have precluded it from getting a Virtual Console release until now. I am not kidding when I'm saying that I'm super hyped for this, folks!

Details, and the full list of games, can be found on Nintendo's website

I'm The VGM Lover. I share a good Video Game tune/remix/cover every single day down on my twitter page (which you can find in my signature down below). I also happen to have been here since 2015, a year before I started my twitter (I used to call myself amcintyr9998, and was nicknamed Cintyr, until I finally changed it later in 2016).
When I see a damn good cover of a damn good Star Fox tune like this one, you bet your bums I'm gonna showcase it, and now, I'd also like to take this time to open up a new conversation on it. If you have thoughts on it, share it here! The pleasure is all mine!
