Slated for a Fall 2014 release, thanks to what appears to be a surprisingly reasonable production schedule under the rule of the wasp monolith EA, Inquisition looks like the best of the previous games combined with improvements on their shortcomings. Take this trailer, for instance, which was probably released alongside a bouquet of flowers and a cursive-script card reading "sorry about copypasting all the environments in DA2":

What else does Inquisition have in store for us? WELL...

  •
  • Back to customizable characters--play as an elf, a human, a dwarf, or a (Kossith) Qunari
  •
  • There will be nine companions, three of which have been revealed
  •
  • Customizable weapons and armor
  •
  • Armor will rust over time
  •
  • NO AUTOHEAL AFTER BATTLES rip dras
  •
  • You can capture keeps and customize them (Merchant, Spy, Military)
  •
  • THERE WILL BE MOUNTS (horses are all we've seen so far)
  •
  • Actions/Tones have been added to the dialogue wheel, dialogue wheel has also been simplified from DA2 to Noble/Clever/Direct tones
  •
  • Interactive environment!
  •
  • The cancelled DA2 DLC "The Exalted March" has been incorporated into the Inquisition storyline

Sounds pretty promising so far!

Anyways, what's a Bioware game without its snarky, lovable, smackable companions? We only know of three so far for Inquisition, but they are familiar faces:

640px-CassandraDAI.jpg

My queen of badassery Cassandra Pentaghast, aka "that chick giving Varric shit for the entirety of DA2" aka "the one who got a movie about her that I should probably watch". Warrior class, can be seen stabbing knives into tables in the trailer. What did those tables ever do to you, Cassandra? On second thought, you do what you want because I'm not gonna get on your bad side.

Speaking of Varric...

640px-VarricDAI.jpg

GAH! Buddy, what happened to you? Everyone's favourite 70's coke dealing pimp dwarf is back as a companion. It's unclear what his story role is at the moment but I hope the trailers are only making it look more depressing than it actually is, because with the third Hobbit movie also out this year I've just about had it with being emotionally compromised by dwarves. Trailer stuff shows him with a chestplate but devs have assured us it is optional, so Varric may bask the world in the glory of his chest hair once again.

Last, but certainly not least...

tumblr_n22u6zrF9C1qimi3zo4_500.jpg

Newcomer Vivienne is an Orlesian mage. I don't know if we know much else about her other than the fact that she's pro-Circle and apparently has a lisp. Looks cool as heck.

Leliana might return since we saw her with Cassandra at the end of DA2. Morrigan is also obviously back but she's not a companion. She appears to have an extremely important role in the plot, as will Flemeth, I assume, since I doubt they retconned her possible death for the sole purpose of deus ex dragonning Hawke to safety. And Hawke may or may not be back as well. Lots of maybes, lots of hopes, LET'S JUST BRING 'EM ALL BACK prayer circle for the return of Anders and Fenris

So this is the designated thread for updates, speculation, and general game chatter (previous games included). Let's bring on the Inquisition!

Let me bring in the goddamn marshmallows because this topic's about to catch fucking fire.

First of all, a fucking Qunari character, that is something I've wanted ever since meeting Sten, whom I adored with EVERY FIBRE OF MY BEING I MEAN HIS LOVE FOR COOKIES JUST GETS ME EVERY TIME why wasn't he a romance option that could have been so adorable and funny

I want to make a character and be the FIRST FEMALE ARISHOK but I know that won't actually happen but I can try.

Rustable armour. Shit. Well since armour is always horrendously expensive (good armour at least) that's more motivation to battle as much as possible and earn more gold. Probably you'll earn from conquering keeps and such, with merchant trades and all that wonderful commerce.

I am actually so hyped to see Morrigan again. I loved her in DA: O (making a space or I'll have this stupid :o in the goddamn title) and after the whole "I'll have this forbidden baby" thing and then her DLC, the number one thing I've always wanted to know is:

what the hell is going on?

I mean Morrigan was powerful, I had her in my party most times, yet she was absolutely terrified of Flemeth. I want to know why, I want to know what the hell Flemeth is, what she wants, what Morrigan wants and what happened to the baby. I don't think the baby will be much older - from the looks of things, Inquisition is set not long after DA2? I mean it's seemingly about Mages Vs The Chantry in an all-out war thanks to ex-pussymagnet and forever-with-angst Anders. Of course, this was inevitable but wow he just made me so angry and was such a whiney, misunderstood hipster that has the potential to run a popular blog as such on tumblr.

Also Varric. The one character that I unconditionally adored in DA2. Don't worry bro, I know that super easy mission at your brother's house wasn't a daydream and was actually reality. I believe you are that strong, talented, and suave. I believe.

Cassandra and Leliana, bring it on. Deadly ladies always welcome.

I just want this game already. I wonder if Alistair hello darkness my old friend will make an appearance, given he is still king in this game. In DA2 that was optional, but drunken Alistair was just too sad to see. ;_;

Oh man I, too, am tempted to play as a female Qunari (mage I think). Unfortunately no Arishoking since if you play a Qunari you're an outsider to the Qun so I think that's an immediate disqualifier :<

I think Inquisition is set about 3 years after the end of the third act of DAII (that was the timeframe in which Cassandra was interrogating Varric, I think) so there's at least ten years between Origins and Inquisition now. But yeah no idea what's up with Morrigan's weird demonbaby thing. I usually hate goddamn baby plots but Morrigan and Flemeth's conflicting, mysterious interests are clearly the more compelling aspects of the story and that's what's kept me engaged. I think it has less to do with the Mage/Templar war than it does with the tears in the Veil that are opening all over Thedas, which seems to be one of the main conflicts in Inquisition as well.

Anders definitely needs followup on that fuckery at the end of DA2. I'm like 95% convinced that Justice was corrupted by his Warden-taintyness and that through that somehow they were both manipulated by Flemeth. I will never stop being upset by the transformation from adorable dorky kitten lover to terrorist.

Varric really is the best though I'm so glad he's still a companion.

Yeah, you better!

Here's some really neat concept art that makes me kind of long for an animated Dragon Age movie.

I kind of initially had a hard attack hoping that conveniently-obscured white-haired person menacing that magey looking dude was a long-haired Fenris but looking closer I think that's actually a woman. A cool woman, I just want my video game husbando back ;-;

Infodump from some recent panels + German magazine:

Hawke and the Warden will show up.

Two companion reveals: elven apostate named Solas, Qunari warrior named Iron Bull

There are two female and two male voice actors to choose from for your Inquisitor

The Inquisitor is the only one capable of closing the rips in the Fade...for some reason.

The Inquisitor can jump (holy shit)

Most areas are three times the size that the Korcari Wilds were in DA:O

The weather and environment have influence on battle--there is footage of the Inquisitor slipping on rain-muddied ground.

The wildlife is dynamic; animals interact with each other (wolves hunt deer, etc) and need time to repopulate if you kill them.

Large enemies have attack points where they will be dealt more damage.

Lightsabres???

I am absolutely crying.

When my Warden appears I will lose my shit.

How much will this game cost upon release? I'll need to start saving. Like, now.

It will probably be whatever the usual release price for games are...$60USD here, at least!

Btw here's what Solas and Iron Bull look like

Also that blond elf that's been in some of the concept art and such is a rogue named Sera but I don't think she's been officially confirmed yet.

His voice actor just confirmed that not only will Cullen be back, he's a companion this time (and romanceable!)

I...actively have to remind myself who Cullen is every time he's mentioned, but he seemed popular with a lot of people, so woo? If you're like me and have trouble remembering who the hell this dude is he's the blond Templar that shows up everywhere but doesn't seem to actually do much.

Also dudebros are already getting anxious about the romances and I am laughing. This happened:

Cullen has a massive fangirl following but I never really saw the big deal. I have a friend on dA who's Cullen crazy and she draws cute art, but as I said, I don't understand the hype. Cool that he's a companion though.

Yeah like to me he was always just kind of there. Like they needed a Templar mouthpiece just to fill in the gaps on their side but he was never really a realized character, just a setpiece. I'd say he has a following because he's attractive but he kind of just looks like every other generic white guy with Jersey Shore hair.

I mean, I'm sure now that he's a companion he's going to be 200% more interesting but I don't really get why he already has such a gigantic following.

I don't know how many times I played Origins and beaten it. I also just finished the Mass Effect series... These guys really know how to design a game, which leaves me to think the next addition to Dragon Age is going to be phenomenal.

Whoa hey heheh I kind of totally forgot I made this topic here's some post-E3 updates

-You can customize your castle, which means I will spend hours playing Extreme Makeover: Thedas Edition

-Sera is a lesbian-only romance, to the tears of dudebros everywhere (and my diabolical laughter)
-You can pause/rotate the camera in-battle, which is kind of cool I guess and can apparently be used strategically
-You can hire advisers to do stuff for you, some of which are companions (Cullen), some of which aren't (Leliana). May or may not be able to romance non-companion advisers? It's unclear but seems that way because they specified Leliana isn't romanceable.
-Female Qunari Inquisitors actually look like badass Qunari, and aren't overly sexualized/"humanized" like the female counterparts of most fantasy/scifi races
-The grizzled warden dude's name is Blackwall
-You can have different kinds of mounts, not just horses, including lizard things
-Over 200 spells and talents to learn
-When a party member is close to dying their icon flashes (WOW THANK YOU)
-You aren't locked into fights, like in DA2, so you can leave/ignore whenever
-You aren't locked into conversations either, and can still walk around/do stuff if people are talking to you
-Weapons/Armour are craftable and completely customizable (eg. you can change what the hilt of your sword looks like)

-It's up to you to find and recruit your companions

-Your companions can hate you and end up ditching you (this is going to be so stressful)

-"Most romances ever" apparently.

-You can swap out your companions' armour

New Companion reveal: Ghost-Kid Cole is a Companion, apparently I/someone goofed and Cullen isn't a companion and is just an adviser (and is still romanceable so don't you worry your macaroni-hair thirsting hearts)

That reminds me, I haven't really played any of the Dragon Age games, a little bit of the first is all. I should really go and beat that.

Fandom confession, I still haven't finished Origins because the gameplay feels like a huge grindfest as much as I love the writing and characters, and mostly just filled in the gaps by reading the wikis/extrapolating from stuff they said in-game in DA2 >_>;

I recently went back and played both DA: Origins as well as DA 2 and earned almost every achievement but 3 between the 2 games. Now I want to get Inquisition, how awesome is it?  :-)

It's really really good. Kind of like a hybrid of Origins and DA2 stuffed into Skyrim. Characters are all lovely, worlds are neat, there's a lot of fun stuff going on with armor/weapon/building customization, has some really freakin' good story stuff going on despite the villain being hilariously cartoonishly evil. Don't feel pressured to do the seven million bear ass gathering quests right away and you're gold.

Well, I played the heck out of Skyrim and Origins so now I am really amped to buy this game... If I get it for the Xbox One is there an option to transfer data from the 360?
