Colorado Shooter's Motive?

Why do you think this psychopath did what he did?

Personally, it gives me the heebie jeebies, because even though I live in Illinois, I saw the midnight release in theater #8 at my local cinema.

Anyway, I think that he was just mad at the world, (reports suggest he may have been forced to withdraw from college) and didn't see these people as people, just targets. Also, he may have just been trying to get attention by putting on a batman-esque show. If you recall, in the first Dark Knight movie, the Joker walks into a room full of people and starts slaughtering them. The cops are called and he gives himself up willingly. Only then does he tell them that he's set bombs to blow in the city. This guy did the same thing, planting homemade explosives and tripwires in his apartment. Also, before Holmes was arrested at the theatre, he pulled his mask of and screamed "I'm the Joker!" Second, how the hell did he get all these guns he had without the Feds keeping an eye on him while he also bought equipment to make bombs ON THE INTERNET?

Perhaps he was sick in the head, or just angry. You guys should decide that.

Our condolences to out to those who were injured and killed, along with their families.

The guy seems like a class "A" psychopath to me, he probably did it for attention, the bad way of it, but

he was probably a man of distance. He probably didn't do much in his life, hid from society, and he felt bad inside for not being

"known". It's a stupid concept bu that's what I think it went to for him.

The guy was pretty intelligent though when it came to the bombs in his apartment. It was a very sophisticated setup and you wouldn't be able to do something like that without a lot of preparation and training. I think he used some of the skills he learned in school to set up his apartment this way. When you need that many specialists flying in to disarm your apartment obviously you aren't a n00b by any stretch.

I'm surprised he told the police about this though, if he didn't tell anyone and they tried to enter his apartment the whole building could have been blown to pieces and many more lives would have been lost.

You have a pretty good point there, but it still hits me to know why would you do something so impacting to other peoples lives?

Was it that he was just plain crazy or what? It's just banging against my head wondering what went through his.

I think of this as Columbine or Virginia Tech. Someone got their dormant mental disorder triggered and went for it. There wasn't any other motive that just the thrill, or at least that's how it looks like.

Other than someone who flipped their lid and murder others......not entirely sure.

And no I am not trying to be funny.

This event has lead to a lot of questioning, it's very unique yet very disturbing. I just hate not being able to

put the pieces together.

Well judging from the News, they're doing their best.

Its rumored that it was planned for quite a while.

Wait wait wait wait ... He yells "I'm the Joker!" in the theater? I have some details as it is but this ... this changes everything.

Now take away the fact he was able to make a apartment boobytraped to the point where it looked like Michael Weston made it. When one says "I'm the Joker." after shooting, was it 10 people? He is completely crazy.

Who says he pleads insanity?

I think he was just crazy, but he was smart and that combo is dangerous. I'm in New Hampshire right now and its all over the news. When I first heard of what happened, my stomach twisted up. I love Colorado and Denver is my favorite city. To think this happened over there makes me sick.

This does make one wonder.

Even if he was crazy, why would he give himself up willingly? If he is as smart as he is, he could have eluded the police by at least a couple of days. Why go to the trouble of boobytrapping his apratment, just to tell the police that he did it? Its like he should not have gone to the trouble.

His background needs to be investigated. Were his parents abusive/ negligent? I think he is just crazy. This is awful and makes no sense.

I hope some good can come out of this, in that stricter gun control laws will be passed. They are long overdue!

Geez...he's either onsomething fierce, or he's actually just crazy in the head.....

Well looks like we have a real life Joker here, but what if he has planned his escape? Like so in The Dark Night when the cell phone blows up.

It's very unlikely, but a possibility.

I had the same idea. *shutters* I really hope I'm wrong though.

I am against the death penalty, even in this case I still belive he shouldn't be killed. But I doubt most people will agree with me.

Especially the people who lost their family members that night. :(

It seems like he should, even if he was "insane". He just blatantly walked into a movie theatre and murdered people for no reason.

He must know deep down that its unjust for him to keep his life after depriving so many of theirs.

I used to be against for violent psychopaths ( Bundy, Gacy, etc.) Because of their hideous childhoods/ mental illnesses. But in this case I may be ok with it.

So do you just think he did it for fun, and not for the reasons of him having a bad childhood or illness like Bundy and Gracy?

Not saying he did have a bad childhood, just comparing.

To be honest. I can give a single damn if he dies by the man's hand or not. It's either that or being locked up in HIGH security for the rest of his days.

Honestly, I think death is the easy way out, they should let him rot in a confined space for the rest of his life, that

to me is the greatest punishment.

In the US, those kind of things are normally perpetrated by people who are out of their mind or have something snap at the moment. Psychopaths who just enjoy the thrill.

It's not like here where there money and mercs actually are a primary reason.

Too many innocents killed in order to do that, IMO

Well yes, there must be justice to that extent of execution at some point, but there are other more horrifying things

than death. Punishment in my eyes should be terrifying. Make you learn your lesson so that it will never cross

your mind again.
