DZComposer 2309 Report post Posted April 15, 2013 Just a reminder that animated avatars should not be too distracting. Lately there have been some that make it hard to focus on reading posts.Fast movement, flashing, and rapid changes should be avoided if possible, please. Please be courteous of other users and not use distracting GIFs in your avatar. Sigs have more leeway, but an overly distracting sig is also annoying. Please don't be that guy.If this becomes a problem, I may have to disable animated avatars.

Vy'drach 867 Report post Posted April 15, 2013 I would say not to worry, Kage. I've seen still avatars more distracting than that one.

Redeemer 1399 Report post Posted April 15, 2013 It's also important to note that flashy avatars can affect those with health conditions such as epilepsy. I myself suffer upon the sight of moving colours or severe contrasts, so if you can, please keep this in mind. Kage and Snes, your avatars are fine.
DoctorAllosaurus 215 Report post Posted April 15, 2013 In laymans terms this means no super disco strobe light fun time. This is SF-O, not the second boss stage in Revenge of Shinobi.
Dr. Orange 1554 Report post Posted April 15, 2013 I doubt mine is too distracting.
Redeemer 1399 Report post Posted April 15, 2013 High, it kind of is. I advise you get rid of the flashy thing.
Dr. Orange 1554 Report post Posted April 15, 2013 I was in production about a new avatar that's in the making. Because I know that this whole thread has my name written all over it, and I thank you! :3 I advise you get rid of the flashy thing. This thing is the Lord of the Universe, who sees all of time and space. The beginning and the end.
Redeemer 1399 Report post Posted April 15, 2013 Well can you honour your topic and take your avatar down at least? Until you get your new one up.

If a staff member asks you to change your avatar, do so. Failure to do so may result in you avatar being removed. I do suppose that would account for the removal.

High, you've been asked to change your avatar, and you knew that you fell in the category of overly done avatars. There is a reason why they aren't allowed, not the least of which is the health and well being of other members. Might I suggest you rectify the situation as opposed to being a cheeky monkey about it before things begin to... escalate?
Redeemer 1399 Report post Posted April 15, 2013 Okay it's all cool, so from now on, no more avatars that are not only distracting but damaging to the health of others. Not being funny but flashing avatars are a health risk for me, as I mentioned before, so I would appreciate if that could be remembered. I live alone and if I get too ill and can't use my phone, that's a bad situation. Granted it's unlikely because I nip stuff in the bud with medication when I feel it coming on, but you never know. And I was complying to take the avatar down I was at least just hoping I could get a day to finish the newer picture for I have more important work that needs my attention at the moment and yes I did know that this was aimed towards avatars like mine. I don't mind having my avatar taken down, I just didn't expect it would escalate to that extent to where the little comment that I meant for a little fun before I removed it to where I'm a cheeky monkey. I guess it's time to revive the snake Transylvania.

I guess it's time to revive the snake Transylvania. The main issue was that it was affecting peoples' health. That means change it ASAP because it is physically and negatively affecting people. You should not be hamming it up.

manthony_Higgs 76 Report post Posted April 16, 2013 While I do think this topic is necessary I think a bit more can be done. Perhaps a PM to the offending party? "Hello person, your avatar/sig is flashy and distracting, and as a moderator/administrator I am asking you to take it down." It would be a bit more effective than having every single person coming in here and asking "Is mine too bad?"

"Hello person, your avatar/sig is flashy and distracting, and as a moderator/administrator I am asking you to take it down." It would be a bit more effective than having every single person coming in here and asking "Is mine too bad?" Perhaps, also, a comparison of a few hand-picked animated avatars, showing what is typically acceptable and what isn't. That would be even more helpful IMO. Fire Yoshi 17 Report post Posted September 21, 2013 The interface of this website is mostly black, so that probably makes the flashier animated avatars stand out more.
