Hi all. I was just curious what exactly is starwolf on venom? Do they just have newer and fancier ships? or are they themselves robotically re assembled? does anyone know?

They have new ships and are covered in bandages from the last time they got their asses kicked.

So their burnt/charred remains were able to be re assembled? That sounds like quite a feat, even for andross!

I assume the game relies on the same logic that it does when you fight Star Wolf at the Sargasso Space Station in Assault.  Their ships explode, leaving no trace of liveable conditions whatsoever - yet they are available immediately for the cutscene that follows.  Hell, they even get on the communication system and complain about being killed after they've clearly been annihilated before your eyes;

Not nearly as blunt as Zero said. Nintendo decided you were too good for the Fortuna/Fichina AIs so they gave you slightly more difficult ones. They still use Wolfens, but they now are not totally incompetent. They also wear weird goggles.

Well..if you see it like the games shows you..the three routes..it doesn't make any sense.

But if we would go deeper, say, view it as a 'movie', then there would only be one route and completly different

as well. They could go from Corneria first to Meteo before they reach Sector Y. Leaving 'unimportant' Planets

out like Titania, perhaps Solar and Aquas too (you could still get rid of those Monsters after Andross is defeated).

On their Way they would save the Cornerian Base on Fichina -which I think would be important- meet Starwolf, defeat them

and later they meet again on Venom.

..I try to put too much logic in it, don't I?

(and I hope you could follow me..I tend to be confusing with my explanation ^^; )

Fun little observation is that the new Star Wolf AI will, with 100% accuracy, deflect all targeted charge shots and often maneuver after. They're still not very good at surviving repeated single fire though.

Guys, it's a space arcade shooting video game. There's really no explaination why they're able to survive explosions and crashes. Think of them as Team Rocket, being able to be blown up and shot away when the plot demands it, but survive if the plot demands it.

I agree, the fact that you fight them on Venom when you didn't fight them on Fichina...doesn't make any sense what-so-ever. I think it's because of the slightly poor mechanics of the N64, but thats just my opinion

It's also worth noting that they aren't flying their normal Wolfen fighters. For that mission, they switch over to the Wolfen II. It's actually a better fighter than the Arwing, it turns tighter, guarantees that bombs and charged lasers fail (though that could very well just be an AI thing) and the pilots seem augmented to use them. At the very least, they seem beaten up. This can seen on Pigma, who now wears a helmet that puts red lens over his eyes, and Oikenny who wears those weird goggles (Arwingpedia calls them macrobinoculars. Anyone know about that?) and Leon, who has that scouter-like thing over his eye. Wolf is badass enough to not need augmentation I guess or all the augments are really just futuristic healing

apparatuses.

The augment theory can make whether you fight them earlier than Venom or not or not irrelevant since it really doesn't matter what they pilot. If those really are for healing then I dunno.

Well there is a somewhat canon storyline but it's impossible to do in-game because it involves going to Bolse, beating Venom 1 and robot Andross then going to Area 6, beating Star Wolf on Venom 2, then beating Andross for real. This would explain the stone golem in the temple that leads you to the decoy. Also since Star Wolf is fightable on Bolse it justifies their reappearance despite the time it would take to repair them. That's just my 2 cents though.
