Geev me yo favourite vegetables

Recommended Posts

Redeemer

Yeah, I said it.

The "v" word.

I see many of you gasp in shock, recoil from your monitors and clutch your chips and meat close to you, holding them at your chest protectively and hissing at the text in this topic.

I see you.

But I'm going to completely ignore that and enthuse with the few and far between, happy vegetable-consumers in SFO

It's approaching November, and we all know what that means! Winter is here and it's going to take a nice big bite out of your butt and bitchslap you with the cold and flu. That's why we need these anti-bitch vegetables on our side, protecting us from such frigid aggression.

What are your favourite vegetables and how do you prepare them? Do you have a go-to soup or dish that keeps you fit during the festive season?

I'm absolutely addicted to aubergines/eggplants. Something I will happily eat alone:

Take a large aubergine.

Shove it up your godda- Cut the top green bit off and cut the entire vegetable lengthways.

Place it skin-down on a tray lined with baking paper/tin foil.

Cut a grid like set of scores into the flesh, about half deep into each part.

Take a large garlic clove.

Chop it roughly, into small pieces, and stuff each piece into the scores you made in the aubergine/eggplant.

Drizzle with a little oil, salt and pepper.

Roast for half an hour at 180C/350F.

Also protip: Make a tuna-mayo dip to make any vegetable bearable. I'm about to chow down on some carrots and peppers that way yeahhhhh.

I'd like some more ideas for this stuff because I don't want to sicken myself of my currently favourite things.

Potato all the way.

I also like cooked broccoli, can't stand it raw though.

I'm a fan of spinach.  Especially in my famous cream of spinach soup.  Maybe I should share my not so secret recipe.

Boil up about 1 1/2 cups of water, a can of spinach, and about 3 cubes of chicken bouillon.  In another pan, you should melt some butter(About 3 tablespoons) then add about 1/4 cup of flour.  Whisk in 3 cups of milk gradually, and then season with your favorite... Well, seasonings.  Once it's thick enough, mix it into the spinach chicken stock mixture.

Viola, you have yourself a tasty spinach soup for the whole family to enjoy.

There seems to be a distinct lack of green beans in this thread.

Stringy green beans are best.

Y'know even when I was a child, I could never understand why most kids hated vegetables. I guess they had parents who didn't know how to cook.

Anyway, I've been taking a liking to green onions lately, I like putting them on my salads and sandwiches.

And I know it's fruit, but avocadoes are fucking awesome.

Kale and a citrus dressing work really well together!

I love mixed root vegetables that have been slow-cooked or boiled; take carrots, potatoes (Yams too), turnips, and parsnips.

Fear not! For mushrooms are neither fruit nor vegetable. Mushrooms are fungi, and therefore exempt from both categories.

Ah, I see.

Whenever it's a cold day,I love heating me up some minestrone or veggie soup.

Well, I usually don't mind mushrooms when they're sneaked into my spaghetti bolognaise/carbonara, mainly because I at least can't taste them.

I'm a fan of potatoes, cooked in any way: mash, roasted, pan-fried... but not BOILED, unless it gets mashed. A sauce I recommend making for pan-fried potatoes is this:

Mix a little 'creme fraiche' (I'm not too sure what the English word for it is, but I think it's sour cream, I may be wrong) and some sweet and sour chili sauce together. Dip potatoe in. Eat!

I absolutely love both GameCube Star Fox games. Even more so, I can't pick a favorite between them.

I love Adventures for its beauty and intricacy, as well as its close connection with nature. I thought the idea of spellstones and Krazoa spirits was so clever. The game's landscaping is so beautiful--all the different places are gorgeous and well thought-out, I think. And I don't care if I get hate for this--I love Krystal. I love her. She epitomizes strength and beauty and intellect and bravery, and I love her accent lol But yeah. I love RPG games, and Adventures was the first game that I fell in love with. Krazoa Palace was so mysterious to me, and as a child I would ride the arm of my couch and pretend that I was Krystal riding her CloudRunner (awkward, I know)

I love Assault because it allows all three elements of a Star Fox game--Arwing piloting, landmaster navigating, and on-foot ass-kicking. Also, both Falco and Krystal are on the team at once, and NOTHING CAN GET BETTER THAT THAT. Falco makes me laugh so much in that game with his snarky comments. That's what I love about Assault--it had a great balance of story developing, humor, and combat. I loved the story about the Aparoids, and I always appreciate the moments that Wolf comes through and lends a helping hand to Fox, as well as give him his top-notch advice. I also love the maps of Assault. Great game.

What about you guys? Do you like Starfox Cubed? Or do you not? I couldn't live without it!!

Also, all of my previous posts have been dumb and in the wrong forum, so I hope I'm doing this right! I'm new to this and all I really want is to start conversations with people Thank you all for being so welcoming, and I hope you guys have a great rest of the week!

We've been teased to the point of blue balls, but is LoZ:MM finally happening for the 3DS? Give this article a read, tell me what you think. I'm aware that this is really, really, really optimistic but as a rabid fan of this game all I can say is "don't poop on my hype pie".

I swear to god man, if this happens. If this happens.

      I don't even know what I'll do.

That's right. I finally completed my degree, I graduate on July 11th. And I move in with R3dFiVe on the 19th July.

I can barely contain myself, all the crap I've rattled on about for months is actually happening now.

This won't affect my activity on SFO. I just wanted to tell you guys, because you're a significant part of my life and thought you might like to know.

This really isn't worthy of the other forums and stuff, so I'll just leave this here in our good old Rec Room!

      I just uploaded a tour of my new flat. I know I was talking about it and promising glorious tours before I got super busy with commissions and overtime at my job, so I'm sorry this took forever to do. ;_;
If you follow the blog link in my signature you've probably already seen it, or will notice it posted there. But I just wanted to show you guys where I live now, seen as some of you were worried about the crazy drug-taking guy I was sharing with before.

This video was originally for R3dFiVe's friend, Tybrone. I promised him a tour months ago and today he was like .

I hope you guys like it. If any of you ever come to Scotland you can totally crash on that couch! It's a recliner!

Edit: MFW I see the related videos. ಠ_ಠ
