geoprimedonna 217 Report post Posted January 7, 2015 OK, does anybody have a suggestion of a good mp3 to MIDI program? If so, give me the name. I tried to use WIDI, but it makes the music sound "lumpy".
0 DZComposer 2309 Report post Posted January 8, 2015 There is no such thing as a "good" MP3 to MIDI program.Different types of data. MP3 is compressed audio. MIDI files are essentially "scripts" that tell an electronic instrument what to play. It's easy to go from MIDI to MP3 as all you have to do is record the sound generator. The other way requires very very complex code that has to pick out individual frequencies, determine if it is a different instrument, and then output a MIDI file. Oh, but what about noise? Not only non-music sounds in the recordings, but MP3 is notoriously noisy compression. Yeah, not really possible beyond very simple stuff. Even if it was, it wouldn't be some freebie program. You'd have to pay audio-production software prices for it.If you want to transcribe things from recordings, I suggest putting in the effort and doing some ear training. There are no shortcuts in music. It is something you must invest years of time into. Remember: you can't build a log cabin unless you chop and haul the wood first.
