Fookes 178 Report post Posted August 8, 2015 I was diagnosed with Asperger's when I was 8. If you are wondering what that is, then search it! Google is there for a reason. The reason I am posting this is that I have gotten to know y'all more, and I am wondering... am I the only autistic person here? Also, please do not be rude to me because I have it. It isn't anyone's fault I got it. I didn't do something stupid and got it, my parents weren't abusive and I got it. My parents might have passed it to me through genes, but they have no control over that.So... are there any other autistic people here? P.S: You don't have to tell me whether you have it or not if you feel uncomfortable about it.
Arminius H O Fiddywinks 210 Report post Posted August 8, 2015 There are several people on this site who are autistic. I know: they've said so. They're free to tell you about it or not.Me though, I am not. But to answer your question, no, you are not the only autistic person here.
fanfictiondreamer 193 Report post Posted August 9, 2015 I completely agree. I have Asperger's Syndrome. I have written about it on my profile. I have written a bunch of things, including a few forums and a blog about how I have been living with it. Don't ever feel like you're an outsider. Feel free to search out others with Autism. I'm sure they would love to hear from others just like them. I know I would.
Sideways 119 Report post Posted August 9, 2015 I myself have Asperger's Syndrome, along with ADD. I've had it since I was a kid as well. I'm considered "high functioning". I'm able to have and keep a job, as well as relationships. My younger brother however, is not so fortunate. He's also Autistic, but he's not as high functioning as I am. I will admit, I DO take offense to the use of "Ass Burgers" or any other derogatory remarks. I'm not uncomfortable with who I am. I've actually learned to embrace it. If you want to talk about it, I'm always open. Leave me a message here, or contact me on Skype.
StarFoxMaster64 42 Report post Posted August 9, 2015 I am actually glad to see people open about being autistic. I am not autistic I just have anxiety problems but I am glad to see people are comfortable talking about it. Like others mainly you just have to embrace it, heck one of my best friends is Autistic and he's a 4.00 GPA straight A student. Keep up the strength my friend it makes these things easier

Guest Report post Posted August 9, 2015 (edited) Asperger and Autism are completely different the only thing that share in common is that both are a Neurological developmental disorder. Similar? Yes! But are the same thing? Short as answer is No. The long answer is noooooooooooooo. There a lot of complexity that make the two things different. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autismhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asperger_syndromeAnyway to answer this question I am Autistic. Further more I was diagnosed with High-Functioning Mild autism when I was seven. Edited August 9, 2015 by Guest
InfinitySquared 163 Report post Posted August 9, 2015 (edited) Well, technically Aspergers has been retired as a clinical term, since really there's little to differentiate it from Autism (although people with Aspergers tend to be higher-functioning than people with Autism, it's very give-or-take). It was also pretty redundant, as Autism is a pretty broad spectrum. How broad? Well, it covers anyone from Dustin Hoffman's character from The Rain Man or any number of characters who are essentially blubbering shambles who have profound talents/obsessions (usually numbers, trains, elements, etc.) to people like Glenn Gould or Clay Marzo-people who really more eccentric than anything else. Pretty fuckin' broad if you ask me.FWIW I'm not autistic, but my mom works with special-ed kids who range from completely non-verbal autistic with a helping of CP to "why is this kid even here?"-levels of high-functioningness. I do got dat Ayyy Dee Aych Deeeeee tho, but so do 99% of kids born between 1993 and 2003 Edited August 9, 2015 by InfinitySquared

The VGM Lover 194 Report post Posted August 11, 2015 Let me contribute also: I'm not entirely diagnosed with aspergers, but I do have some of the symptoms. The symptom that sticks out the most is lack of proper focus; I always need someone to scribe for me when I'm doing an assignment, more so an exam...

The VGM Lover 194 Report post Posted August 11, 2015 I don't know. There are other symptoms that I have associated with aspergers, but while I can't remember them, I know it's not enough to completely diagnose me with it.
