I need to be more active on this forum, and now that I can finally login I will be!
But- I do have one thing that i'm curious about. Has anyone attempted to actually look into the internal files of Zero for Audio clips, Textures, models, etc?
I can hardly find anything related to that myself. And feel like it'd be a neat project to do.
Keep in mind that I don't wanna do this to widely distribute the assets. This is more of a "How hard of a task can this really be?" Kind of deal.
Just more of something that would be neat I guess.

Im kinda surprised that there's few topics on Zero being made. I mean Zero's been out for a while & its the same old people with few topics on Zero, let alone interesting ones. It looks like a clear sign that the game barley had any sufficient content to talk about.
Anyways, according to a video game analyst, Zero was not profitable at all & hasn't sold 500,000 worldwide. https://mynintendonews.com/2016/06/02/zhugeex-says-that-star-fox-zero-was-not-profitable-at-all/
I doubt it'll be the last Star Fox game but I do hope Nintendo learns their lesson; Dont force the player to change views with motion controls & having empty/dull all-range levels with a horrible rewarding system doesn't work in 2016 especially if it's going at $60.

So with Zero here and out and an all new timeline established both familiar and different to what we already know, I figure it'd be fun if we collaborated on organizing the unique differences between each (as well as the similarities). I'm only listing what I know, so comment on what I forget or miss and I'll add it!
The SNES Canon:
Material Included: Starfox, Starfox 2, Nintendo Power Comic, Starfox Manual
Storyline Highlights:
-James is known as "Fox Sr.", Fox is known as "Fox Jr.".
-Star Wolf exists in Starfox 2; unsure if this applies any of their backstory from 64 though (Pigma's betrayal, etc)
-Andross was raised by CYBORG PIGS, has a robot pig adjutant named Herbert (the comic was weird)
-Andross also was in love with Fox's mother, Vixy, and accidentally killed her with a car bomb meant for James/Fox Sr
-James/Fox Sr. died when transporting an experimental weapon that exploded, most likely booby trapped by Andross.
-Andross was banished to Venom after an experiment of his caused a natural disaster on Corneria
-Andross discovered ancient technology on Venom and used it to create his army alongside recruiting/enslaving/mind controlling the native reptile inhabitants
-Fara, Fay and Miyu are exclusive to this canon. Honorable mention goes to Algy (Was he meant to be Andrew or his own character?)
-Andross dies a LOT in this canon. (Once at the end of Starfox, then THREE times in the post-game comic, then a fifth time in Starfox 2!)
-Venom is terraformed in Starfox 2; may have been green before Andross's arrival (the comic suggests it was barren, the manual says Andross polluted it)
-Sector Y is a "space ocean" full of aquatic themed animals; Sector X and Z are just debris fields orbit Corneria
-Macbeth is a volcanic planet with a hollow interior. Titania is a frozen planet (that or Doctor Hangar's weather controller made it frozen?)
-Locations unique to the SNES canon are Meteor, the Black Hole, Out of this Dimension, Eladard, and Astropolis.
-Star Fox start out as bandits who raid Andross' armies, illustrating them as a Robin Hood against a corrupt empire; the greater implication is that Venom and Corneria are opposing super powers fighting across the Lylat system.
-The Arwing is experimental technology that Starfox was asked to use; it did not exist previously.
-There is no "Original Starfox" before Fox/Falco/Slippy/Peppy; James/Fox Sr. was a Cornerian pilot
-Starfox's ages are different than other canons: Fox and Falco are in their mid20s and Peppy only in his 30s. Slippy is still 18, however.
-The Arwing has a mecha form in Starfox 2
The 64 Canon:
Material Included: Starfox 64, Starfox 64 Player's Guide, Farewell Beloved Falco Comic, Starfox Adventures, Starfox Assault, Starfox Command
Storyline Highlights:
-Introduces Beltino, James as "James", and the "G1" Starfox team along with Pigma's betrayal
-Andross before the war seems much more sinister, having once reduced Lylat to a "wasteland of near extinction"
-Andross is again banished to Venom but the ruins this time seem to be ancient instead of advanced.
-Andross' army consists mostly of apes instead of reptiles
-Unique major characters are Krystal, Panther, Dash, Amanda, and Lucy.
-Introduces other species beyond Lylatians: Anglars and Aparoids
-Introduced the Landmaster tank and Blue Marine
-Andross has a more tangible, physical form in this canon compared to others
-Unique locations are Katina, Aquas, and Solar.
-Sector Y and Z are different from the SNES canon: rather than a space ocean and a construction yard, they are merely massive radioactive nebulae and space graveyards.
-Fichina is erroneously called Fortuna in SF64. This is remedied in Assault.
-Solar appears to be a red dwarf in SF64, but is changed to a yellow or orange dwarf in Command. This is retroactively applied to SF643D as well. The truth is though Solar is not a star at all, but merely a molten planet like Macbeth is in the SNES canon.

Alright, I finished my first playthrough (well, first route through the game, I haven't seen everything yet!) of Zero last night. Holding my opinions back for now (Hint: I loved it), can we talk about how absolutely fantastic the soundtrack is for this game? I really enjoyed almost every track in the game, but some of the standout ones for me were Katt's theme, Sector Alpha, and actually the Mission Complete theme. Nintendo/Platinum did an absolutely wonderful job on this one.

This is only an excerpt. If anyone is interested in doing a Chanbara (samurai genre) based StarFox fanfic:
The dingy atmosphere of the bar mingled with the stench of villainy present within. Places like these were rampant across the backwater planet designated as Kew. It is here crime and all sorts of sin were committed by countless individuals who's hearts were blackened with hate and anger.
In the corner of the room sat a lone vulpine quietly eating his grub. he wore a slightly worn flight suit with a Wakizashi and Tanto strapped on the side of his hips. On the table next to his meal lay a basket weaved conical hat with holes cut in front to provide the wearer some vision. on the bench he sat on, a Katana lay just within his reach.
This man here is non other than former mercenary pilot, Fox McCloud. It had been roughly 2 years since the Anglar war had ended. For him it was no happy ending. He had lost everything, his team, the woman he loved and worst of all, his family honor. all of which was taken from him by Star Wolf. It seemed as though the McCloud bloodline would end in this shameful manner, however after a full month of wallowing in depression, he was later on plagued with visions of an astral hand forging a celestial blade that he saw in his sleep. as 5 months worth of visions progressed, the blade in these visions glowed faintly but grew brighter as time passed.
By the end of the fifth month a miracle occurred. That fateful night, His friend falco, came to check on him but as he entered the room he was unprepared for the great spectacle that unfolded before him.
Fox was levitating a few feet off his bed, his eyes replaced with a starry void in their place. In a great flash of light, an astral arm erupted from his chest holding a divine blade, a sacred katana firmly in it's grip. Falco saw that Fox suddenly regained consciousness and gladly held the sword, of which the astral hand disappeared. He then receded the sword back into a sheath that Falco claims was not there when he came in. As soon as the sword was fully withdrawn back into it's sheath, Fox's eyes returned to their usual green color and he calmly looked back at Falco who was in total shock as to what had happened.
On that night, Fox found a new purpose in life upon acquiring this sacred blade. For about a year and a half, he wandered lylat and the galaxy protecting the innocent and smiting evil with this weapon, forged from his own soul and imbued with purity and strength. In time stories of this lone swordsman pilot spread and in time he became a legend and ascended to a mythical status as he who is called the "Samurai pilot". However he had created many enemies from crime lords, gangsters, and corrupted military officials, who only wished to destroy him and take the divine weapons that he had possessed.
By this time, his wandering had brought him to Kew. at that present moment, his bounty on his head was greater than Star Wolf's during the Anglar war.
As Fox quietly chewed his meal, he calmly noticed that a particular blue furred vixen was eyeing him on the far side of the table. Her fur was grimy and she wore a rather revealing outfit. Her hair was purple and she wore a green diamond over her forehead. she glared silently at the vulpine with an unusual air of familiarity, almost as though she knew him long ago. Fox quietly continued eating despite of this. As soon as he swallowed his grub, he set down the plate and quietly reached with his left arm, for the Katana near him.
For a few seconds of silence his hand slowly inched it's way toward the sword. suddenly as he was almost about to grab the Katana, the sound of a blaster charging entered his ears, he looked back to see the vixen and several other bounty hunters all pointing their weapons in his direction.
Using his right hand he quietly ate another spoonful, calmly ignoring the bounty hunters's guns. As soon as he swallowed. He quietly and silently prepared himself to grab the katana and dash under the table. . . .
I hope there is anyone interested in writing a Chanbara StarFox fanfic. I can't write a full on fanfic. only drawings and small excerpts.
If anyone is interested in doing a chanbara work set in the game's timeline. It must evoke the action and grittiness from Samurai jack and Afro Samurai.
