Oh, hi!

Hi everyone.

First of all, I didn't know there was a Star Fox Fan Community until now, as somebody gave me a URL to a Forum Thread here.
Then I joined this Site, because I really love the way it's designed (okay, and I love Star Fox games as well).

In short, I'm a girl from Japan, and I own a Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart 7 ROM Hacking Community (you should find it somewhere on my Profile), of which its Forum Software is all built from scratch by me and a very few other people.
You may as well know me for my YouTube videos.

So, nice to meet you, and 初めまして!

Oh cool, someone from Japan.  We don't have many people from there, so it's very nice to see one.  Name's Tiger, welcome to the site.  Hope you enjoy your stay here, and watch out for the nut cases here.  (Especially Flare, she loves to weird out new members.)

I've been branded a nutcase..? I'm so...HAPPY. Someone is finally recognizing my talents! T^T

Oh, hai. Welcome and stuff.

A Japanese member? Now that is definitely a sight to see! :D

Anyway, welcome to SF-O! The name's Clearwater, but feel free to simply call me Clear. I'm SF-O's resident Blue Spix Macaw and local British guy. I just love it when people from all over the globe of different nationalites mingle with each other. I hear it's great out in Japan, I'd love to go there myself one day.

Enjoy your stay here!

A new member... Excellent.

I'm Shmi, SF-O's resident Bondian and Tarantino lover. If you need any help around the site, feel free to ask.

Oh my gosh, someone located in Japan. This is great. There's a chance you'll get drafted to send in physical copies or scans of future canon material, or do translations, depending on your language skills.

Welcome to the Andross cult, mate. You'll fit in fine, here.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes.
After being here for a while, I see it's clear that this Forum has a similar issue as my Forum: Chat/ShoutBox is very active; Forum is not really active.

Perhaps we may think of a solution together? (Not as in, let's swam Members, or let's work together. I rather think of a solution that works for both of us, while still remaining independent from each other, we have a completely different user base, anyway.)

You mean a solution other than providing interesting content and relevant news directed to the purpose of said forum?

No, that's not what I meant.

All I mean to say is, we both have a similar issue in terms of activity, so we both have to solve this, somehow.

I get that.

I'll just be honest. Everyone has tried to find why sites aren't active to the max on the forums. But the only solution is interesting and relevant content and a dash of fun and games and a heap of Opioids and The Police albums.

It seems that way. We've been trying to think of things, and nice topics to talk about, but on our site, the ShoutBox has most of the activity.

Things we talk about in the ShoutBox could be turned into threads, but the only reason people use it so much is most likely because they get more of an instant reply. Of course getting rid of it would be a solution, but as far as we know there isn't anyway we can remove it, without the likely hood of our current user base getting mad at us for it, or just leaving us for 3rd party chat apps such as Skype, and Discord entirely.

Actually, I can remove the ShoutBox, by just changing 1 variable in the Config File.

I'm sorry, but how is removing the chat box in anyway, shape or form, a solution to the problem of inactivity? It sounds like a focal point of activity. You remove the interesting tool it's just going to be more inactive. People use the chatbox here for example way more than the forums in some cases. Is that a problem? Not really since it's activity.

I get that you guys want to make an interesting forum site that's active and people want to go to on a regular, but I'll be completely frank and I'm sorry if this sounds mean in someway, but I've looked at the forum and it completely focuses on hacking ROM games. That's a really narrow activity that people are into. It's going to be tough to get activity of such a specific topic.

Best bet is making something as a community that catches on (similar to how Project M came about...?). I give you the best of luck in your venture but I can tell you it's not with killing the chat box.

You have a point there, although my post you have quoted only states it's possible to do so.
I've never been into forcing people to do something, which is why we hold Polls for any big decisions, the latest example being whether we should have a Documentation Wiki back or not.

Besides, the ShoutBox serves more purposes than just chatting, for example, it also notifies you whenever someone makes a new Forum Post or Thread.

I never said we should take away the ShoutBox, and force people to use the forums, I said it might be a solution, but that would depend on how the user base would feel about it, as Yami said above, I was mostly being hypothetical.

I can't say I would force people to do something, either.

Well I can say that it won't work.

I can't say I care about what you both do with it, I'm just giving the advice.
