Fox P McCloud
In short, I do not like the EU, at all; I believe that all the countries should stay separate entities.... Sadly, it appears that an economic union is quickly turning into a international union...
Scott_Wolf
Only by uniting could they rise as far as they have. The fact that they are united means there is no war. Rising high isn't necessarily that important, but for the prosperity they're after- I guess its fine. The fact that they produce a shiteload, invest millions in productive, efficient technology through cooperation and actually share what they come up with before it's 20 years old is quite the plus. And considering the first and second world wars, I think that they have the right to take the measures to prevent such a war ever occurring again. And for this single entity thing, thats fairly old fashioned and hopefull, because it wont really apply for much longer. Globalization tends to do that. And hell, soon you can have your single entity wish, and the UN will have over 20 less people to bicker with. Overall I'd say the EU is good. Mr. Krystal
Countries rise and fall all the time. That's not why I say it's bad. Personally, anything with the name "union" in the name, I dislike.

Fox P McCloud
yeah...the unionization of companies has nearly destroyed a couple of them...but anyway, aside from that. I just fear that the EU, once fully established and formed, will turn into another totalitarian state that has "democracy" as a false front. Scott_Wolf
Every nation, and Alliances between them has that risk. Europe is a modern, civilized, and well organized continent with good values to stand by. I don't think they will become totalitarian.
Four-eyed Vulpine
Only by uniting could they rise as far as they have. The fact that they are united means there is no war. Except against the other countries of the world. Such a conglomeration of states tends to lean primarily on its military. And by the way, I voted that the EU is bad. Scott_Wolf
Why are you all scared of an Ally? The US leans on its military a shitload. The EU is simply another rising power like India and China. Considering the fact that the EU is essentially a creation helped on by the USA, I'm finding it quite humorous to read all these claims that its bad. Fox P McCloud
it doesn't matter if they people have good values; if the government has other plans, then forget it...and whether or not Europe has good values is HIGHLY debatable. Not only that, but the EU doesn't like the US...they see us as a flailing soldier going down hard....as does China; why else do you think that China (and practically every other country) wishes to drop the peasely US dollar? Scott_Wolf
Have you been to Europe? They're helping each other out of the dirt. Do you know if they hate you? Everyone I met in Europe said they were fine with the US. Europe is a rising star, so why try to stop them? I'm pretty sure they saw the US as an upstart as its beginnings as well. Now the same is happening the other way. One might call the US wary when it comes to its allies, I'd say its paranoid. When the world is starting to get a little darker every day, the worst thing you can do is point your finger at your ally and tell them its their fault, and that they shouldn't exist. It's foolish, and naive. I'm not going to push my point, because I can feel controversy on its way. And obviously we can't agree. *takes leave*
