Toonami Star Fox: New Fan Project

This is not fanart... YET. It is a project I am beginning now, and I'd like suggestions.

Ok, so I've been reminiscing lately about Toonami. Not just the shows on them, but the intros, promos, and the general cool factor they had back then. I think I've managed to calculate their formula:

1. Deep voiced narrator explains the basic plot very briefly.

2. Background music of highly repetitive ambient techno.

3. Video clips showing mostly action and the main character(s).

4. Occasional clips have their voice/sound clips active, other times not.

5. Interspersed audio clips of the main characters talking, saying something cool or explaining part of the plot themselves.

6. Date/Time announcement by narrator.

7. Narrator says some clever catchphrase that can be easily associated with the show.

8. End with narrator saying "ONLY TOONAMI!"

Here are several examples to get an idea what I'm talking about or to refresh your memory.

Now. Star Fox. I want to do one (or three) of these things with Star Fox. Specifically (at first), Star Fox 64. I'm looking for suggestions! I need suggestions for the ambient techno, stuff to say as the narrator (I'll work with some voice filters to get it sounding epic), video and audio clips to use, etc. Remember, I'm going for the format listed above, so any suggestions along those lines are encouraged. I'm aiming either for a 30 second or 1 minute ad.

I'm leaning towards "Use bombs wisely." as the catchphrase, but if you think of something better, feel free to tell me (no, "Do a barrel roll" is not an option).

If this goes well, I'll try and do one for Adventures and Assault. The other games just aren't as easy to record, or don't have the amount of cutscenes I really need.

Very ambitious project, hope to see it pan out to its full potential, now lets see, for the techno, I could see using a snatch from Scooter's Trance-Atlantic working out well.

For video clips, from what I can remember of the cutscenes, I'd say part of the opening to Corneria where Star Fox is in formation, perhaps the one from Area 6 where they take out the small formation of fighters, and maybe take a gander at Sector Y's and see if its serviceable. May I also suggest General Pepper's asking Star Fox for help as an audio early into said promo.

As for the catchphrase, "Never give up, trust your instincts" or, "We prefer doing things our own way" would also be worth looking into.

And I'd think it'd be rather epic to have, either through direct audio rips or voice filter approximation, General Pepper narrating, if that sounds intriguing to you.

I think a good scene for the aventures part. would be where krystal says "I'll join if you kiss me  and actually have the scene where Fox gets enough  guts to kiss her in front of everyone. or just have it fade out there.

Assault: Rob saying "Aparoid Aparoid...." Krystal saying "A mission together at last.

General Pepper's voice is good, but I feel like it would be weird if he was addressing the story in the third person.

I like your cutscene suggestions.

The catchphrases aren't ringing true for me. They are great phrases, but they don't seem to fit right for this.

Here are the other catchphrases, with their accompanying series:

Teen Titans - School's out forever.

Batman - Good guys wear black.

Big-O - Good guys still wear black.

Batman Beyond - Justice returns to Gotham.

Cardcapters - It's all in the cards.

Justice League Unlimited - There's strength in numbers.

Cyborg 009 - Being half-human ain't all bad.

Rave Master - Stone cold.

DragonBall - They're so cute at that age.

Naruto - No guts, no glory.

Transformers Armada - Much more than meets the eye.

Hamtaro - Big things come in small packages.

Gundam Seed - Reap what you sow.

.hack//sign - Hate the game, not the player.

Sailor Moon - Soul of a princess, heart of a soldier.

In fact, probably should use something not ACTUALLY in the game. Maybe something like "Sometimes it takes a fox... to do a man's job!"

Finally, scooter's stuff is good techno, but it isn't ambient techno. Have a listen to the Toonami Blackhole Megamix to get a better idea of what we're going for:

The only General Pepper quote that I can think of that might go somewhere is "Reports indicate that Andross is working on some secret weapon!"

I would need to see in detail what your doing in order to help. But it seems like a pretty cool idea.

For the music for the Star Fox Assault one, you could probably just use one of the songs from Multiplayer, there is one or two ambient songs in there I think.

Why do you want to do this?

Cause it's awesome? Because I can? Because I think that I both can do this AND make it awesome?

Focus people. I need ideas. So far, only one person has really contributed Star Fox 64 ideas. I need MOAR!

How about "Time, to rock and roll."?

Area 6 voice clips would be good. As for naration lines maybe stuff like:

"When evil comes into your system *Insert http://f.starfox-online.net/sf64/voiceclips/andross-EndGameLaughter.mp3 *, you call in a team that knows how to get the the job done. *Show clip of Starfox team running down corridor here* *Insert http://f.starfox-online.net/sf64/voiceclips/pepper-WeNeedYourHelpStarFoxIntro.mp3 (Just the "We need you help Starfox" part)*

No playtime for these party animals. Because when you got Starwolves, *Insert http://f.starfox-online.net/sf64/voiceclips/wolf-CantLetYouDoThatStarFox.mp3* Ugly monsters, *Insert clip of an ugly monster here. Maybe Goras or Vulcain since they're pretty ugly. :P* and a Giant Monkey Head, *Show clip of Andross shooting lightning, or punching at a Arwing* it's time to get serious. *Insert http://f.starfox-online.net/sf64/voiceclips/fox-SplitUpAndTakeItToEm.mp3*

*Insert http://f.starfox-online.net/sf64/voiceclips/area6General-TheseGuysAreCrazy.mp3*

Just who are these guys? *Insert http://f.starfox-online.net/sf64/voiceclips/fox-WereStarFox.mp3*

Starfox. For the N64.

It's time...to rock and roll.

*Insert http://f.starfox-online.net/sf64/voiceclips/falco-YeahJustOneMore.mp3 (Just the "Yeah!" part)*

ONLY TOONAMI.

Gonna toss up links to some songs, some will have vocals, but if you can find the beat you want, great, if not, tell me which ones come closest to what you want so I can fine tune my search, its just a matter of trial and error, and I recommend forwarding through songs before dismissing it as they usually change beats now and then. I want to see this project to fruition and help in any way that I can, and not sure what you mean by ambient, for me ambient techno equates to trance.

Sorry for the mass of songs lol, but I think they're pretty good ones though, and finding that song you need is going to be a matter of fine tuning the search, unless you get lucky and happen to hear that one, perfect, song.

Voice needs to be filtered. Also the low quality SF64 voices don't fit with the rest of the audio. Good, just fix the voice at least

Voice was filtered, lol....

And Low quality SF64 voices? Those clips were taken from right off this site. O_o

No the voices are low quality compared to the voice, and I mean filter as in deep, dark sounding.

Oh that. I thought you meant Noise filter it.

No, my voice doesn't come out too good that way. I sound like Venom or somebody. (XD) I went for kinda a "Disney XD" feel. Anyways, just really did it for fun, and it may help Mr. K out a little.

Wow. This is a cool idea, Mr. K! I'll try to help with some suggestions sometime, for now, I've got nothin'.

Vydrach, almost all those songs were trance. Forgive me, my wording was wrong. Apparently, Toonami-styled music is called "break beat" or "experiemental." So, the closest one you picked was this one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71WRHjD1Co4

Try searching for break-beat itself, rather than "techno."

I experimented a little with my voice and I've concluded I need more practice and experimentation. I will work on deepening my voice naturally. Meanwhile, here's a short script I've made up. I have not inserted Star Fox clips, and I intentionally 'adjusted' a few of the plot details (like they did on Toonami) to make it more interesting.

Lylat. The peaceful federation of planets has been ravaged by war at the hands of a mad scientist named Andross. He has slain the galaxy's greatest hero, and now only one planet remains free of his diabolical grip.

Their forces overrun, General Pepper of the Cornerian forces makes a desperate plea to a team of four hot-shot mercenaries out to make a name for themselves. Their leader: Fox. Ace pilot and son of the legendary James McCloud. With his crew, they fight their way across the stars, bringing the war back to where it all began: planet Venom.

But team dynamics ain't easy in space, and a rival team is out for blood.

Star Fox!

Beginning April 27th.

Sometimes it takes an animal, to do a man's job.

ONLY Nintendo.

Alright, yeah, threw me off with the term ambient, but if its break beat you want, break beat you shall receive, looked up a list of break beat artists, hopefully that will help.
