As you can see, at 29 inches, I'm pretty well snowed in.

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1042885&l=2cb95645a3&id=1374930587  This one is kinda' neat... The snow nearly to the top of the fence leading to the neighbor's yard...

This is the pool area, but the pool is filled in.  You can barely make out the Webber.  http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1042503&l=949e96a058&id=1374930587

Let's see, how about two more... hm..

In this one, the lump on the left is a 2000 VW Passat. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1042494&l=1e3bd79ca4&id=1374930587

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1042882&l=a57ef3649e&id=1374930587 Okay this one is kinda' neat... from a window on the far end of the house, wind blew snow up against the window so it's quite literally higher than the window screen.  Hmm.

I don't live in Buffalo, New York, people... I live in the suburbs between Baltimore and Washington DC.  Nothing fancy... just record snowfall. xD

if any of these links don't work, let me know.

If someone doesn't have a Facebook, I'm pretty sure they can't see the pictures. >>

But good lord, that's a lot of snow. I've never seen that much snow in my whole life combined.

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1042891&l=1a58b77573&id=1374930587  Here's the walk after it got shoveled, HAHAHA.  Epic.  It's 5 feet tall (and in some places, up to 6), because of having to dump the snow somewhere, rofl.

I don't have a Facetubeorwhateveritiscalled account, and can still see them.

It's not bad considering how much further south you live than me. We've got a good deal more than that, but that's only to be expected.

LMAO!  You got MORE than 29 inches?!  AHAHAHA that's EPIC!

How much you get so far?  Maryland does not have the facilities to fight 30 inches of snow, lol.  Plus, there will be MORE snow on Tuesday! LOL

Right now, I still have power, a LOT of Maryland does NOT, right now.  A LOT!

Several of my friends are without right now.

...Just saw your profile.  JESUS! Norway?  No wonder you're not impressed! LOL

Norwegians are ready for this kind of stuff.  DC and Baltimore fail epically when this kind of snow hits.

About 1 metre average. More where it had to be shoveled out of the way, such as along the main roads, where the only thing one can see out of the windows in a normal car is a wall of snow.

Number 1. I don't see the reason for using caps unless that's how it's written on Facebook.

Number 2. I didn't know you could do that! That's neat.

Sorry you got so much snow.

Sissi, it's at the bottom of each photo that you post, it gives you the public link to show friends of yours who don't have face book.

And, Asper... A meter, nice.  That's about a yard, three feet in American Standard... which is the measurement stick I'm showing in the first picture.  Yes, you get about 7-8 inches more, give or take an inch.  Nice.  Buffalo , up in New York, gets a lot, too.  A few years ago, a friend of mine up there said she got 7 feet and the city was scrambling to help people get snow off their rooftops to prevent collapse due to weight... many roofs DID collapse. D:

I forget when that was... early 2000's, around 2003 or 2004, I think.  Anyhow, Maryland is not prepared for it and they're not geared for rescuing citizens who go out in this mess... SO!  They have the state locked down.  If you're caught out in this, you get ticketed and fined.  This country sometimes likes to make "stupidity" against the law.  Hey, it devalues the dollar in the end, because you have 15% of 300 million people walking around as total idiots... but!  It is what it is... They're allowed to breed more wackos but at least there are more voters out there, right?  lol

Yeah I'm fairly good with the imperial measuring systems, but as I'm most used to metric, and find them a lot more logical, I use them instead when writing myself. The exception being with measuring vague distances in fiction, where I use feet.

You actually have locked down the state!?!

I didn't think that was possible. Tought it might be something to consider here as well for the southerners when the first snow falls. The rest of us love to make fun of them when they slide around helplessly where we have no problems driving or walking, the sunny climate and closeness to the rest of the world has made them soft!

No, the lack of snow has made us soft. >_> It DOESN'T snow here on the coast, thus why we freak out when there's some ice on the roads, forget snow. Our cars aren't meant to handle it, our stores don't sell snow tires. The worst we have to drive in is hurricane force winds. And that's if you decide really late to evac. If it gets bad enough for us to get an evac order, they tell us way ahead of time anyways.

I didn't mean to be snappy, if it sounds that way, but I kinda started rambling in my attempt to get the point across.

Snow is a lot more common in the northern parts of the south, where they're more prepared, but still, not common enough for it to be an issue.

Just remember, there are proud southerners on this forum that you might offend by laughing at their hardships, just because we aren't used to it.

LOL, Sissi, he means southern Norway!  The whole WORLD knows better than to poke a finger or snicker at anyone from the southern United States (SouthWest is excluded).  The 'Ole South' is known as hard working people with exceptional heritage and values. They're also known for being tough.  How would I know?  I used to live in Tennessee.

And since Asper is no Yankee, don't let his words bother ya'  - he's only talking about lower Norway where people don't know how to react to the hard cold that upper Norway receives.

I promise, Belle, you're absolutely not part of his equation.

All hail canada!, for it has the best snow.

Cold weathers are nice...but really freaking snowing/super cold is just too much, it takes the fun of cuddling and it makes people more lazy. I'd rather have...stable weather, even if it doesn't have the fun of snow, or beaches.

I thought Asper was from Norway, but I wasn't all that sure. :) I got very confused with the context of this conversation, thanks for clearing that up.

And thanks for calling me a Belle. :D

I don't get it, it's like all of Canada decided to get snow, except for B.C. Where is my snow, I'm right beside the ocean, i should have lots of snow due to precipitation amounts over here... but no, the ocean was like, "Oh, I'mma be a big meany and not let it snow in B.C. because I'mma warming up throughout the summer, so when winter comes I'm really warm, cause I'm a meanymean pooface." and the winds all like,"OH OH it just might snow over thar in B.C., I bettaur blow really hard to make the clouds go somewhere else"

That's actually a REALLY good explanation for why it doesn't snow here either! I never thought about it that way!

Most also don't realize that the coastal southerner is the most refined and cultured.  I saw you mentioned the coast.  I rest my case.

You know the rain you guys got a few days ago?  That all turned to snow for Maryland.  And it's moved on as if now... the snow has stopped falling and now the Yanks are getting it good.  Heh.  That's the funny thing about Maryland.  Northerners think Maryland is southern just because it's south of the Mason Dixon line, Southerners think it's a northern state because it's north of Richmond Virginia, or even Appomattox for that matter.  (For those of you who don't know, that's where the Civil War was signed, sealed and declared as 'over'.)

Really, Maryland is just.... Battlefield Trash.  xD  That's what we are...  The government was union, the residents were confederate.  It was a mess, I'm sure.

But I digress!  anyone else have some good snow pictures? LOL

Here's one that amuses me, although I do NOT know where this was taken:  http://www.joe-ks.com/archives_jan2008/IceBoatA.jpg

But again, I digress - anyone have some good snow pictures around their town?  I can't be the ONLY guy snowed in right now! lol

I didn't mean to make fun of those who live in the southern states of the US. I'm a countryboy from middle Norway, a viking redneck one can say. It's the snobby "cityboys" that makes up most of souther Norway I was making fun of.

Rest asured, I've got nothing but infinite respect for the residents of the southern states, and I'm seriously considering moving there and stay for a couple of years some day. The only hitch is that I simply can't stand heat, I'd simply melt if I moved there.

:P We're the most cultured because we see the most culture. We have tourists coming out our rears and we don't know what to do with them.

Also, we're still getting the rain, it kinda left last night, but it's supposed to be back Tuesday.

Also, I think Maryland is a southern state >_> They seceded from the Union during the Civil War, and that's how I  make my differences between what's Southern and what isn't.

I'm actually really jealous of all the snow you're getting! I'd be so happy to get a snow day. :) It would be our first in more than 20 years. As long as me and my sister have been in school.

And Asper, I'd like to move further north, actually. It's really humid down here because we're close to the water. Which makes our hot days hotter and our cold days colder. It sucks. :P

I've got close relatives in Minnesota, which I'll visit this summer if everything goes as planned.

Of all the people who left Norway to settle down in the US, almost all moved to the states at the northern border, as that had the climate most similar to what they was used to. Particulary Minnesota, North Dakota and Montana have a lot of inhabitants of Norwegian decent.

LOL, Asper!  If you don't like heat, move to East Tennessee and stay up in the mountains.

However!  Most of the south has one very horrible thing... HUMIDITY!  So, unless you plan on evolving fish gills to breathe all the water in the air... FUHGIDDABOUDIT!

Also, you can be a LITTLE countryish without the heat up in... ah... Kentucky.  West Virginia has mountains, too... they're just east of Maryland.  There's... a lot of Rumors about West Virginia, though, if you get my meaning.  They're just rumors, though.  *Cough, cough, inbreeding, cough*

AHEM... If you hate heat, stay away from places that are low, like Mississippi.  Maryland has really humid summers because there's SO MUCH water here.  The figgin' Bay, the Ocean, a billion lakes, rivers, ponds and all that crap...

Maryland sucks for weather.  Muggy summers, frigid winters... or, if you want to look at it in a different light... they have the most intense of every season - a jack of all seasonal trades, but a master of none.  Oh and pollution.  We got that, too.  >_>

Quality of life for Maryland will never show up in a "LIVE HERE!" hand guide.  Just... never.  lol

LOL Sissi... Northern tourists are the funniest people to see moseying around the South.  I get tickled whenever I see someone wearing socks with their sandals.  That cracks me up.  They're all, "I wear socks because my feet are cold!" and I'm all, "Then don't wear sandals!"

Where you at that you've not had a snow day in over 20 years?  Savannah area?  That's a beautiful place, though... I'd love to have beach-front property in that region.

I live in the Mobile Bay area, with a lot of historical towns and historical sites and such. :P And a 30 minute ride to Gulf Shores.

I admit though, I've never seen a tourist with socks and sandals, but I've heard horror stories.
