A Star Fox source mod?

I've lately been playing a lot of Source games and mods. I've seen the flexibility of the source engine and I'm really surprised at what can be pulled off with it.

In thinking about it, I've asked myself if PoF would make a better Source mod than a MP2 mod. And now, I'm asking you people. Would you all prefer I stick with MP2 or move on over to Source? With Source I can add my own gameplay elements thanks to access to the source code. There's also multiplayer modes in Source.

Not only does it have a lot more stuff in Source, the graphics engine is also vastly superior to the point of having effective use of mapping effects.

Please share your input on this and if I do decide to work with Source, I'll need some help, preferably from people who've modified Source games before and know how it works inside and out. The most I know is model and texture modifying.

Ah good ol' Source, I remember making a few custom maps for Counter Strike Source.

Well it seems you won't be as restricted on the Source Engine from what you have told us. I'd personally like to see what you can do on the Engine. So long as it doesn't mean you have to start over.

If this doesn't mean you'll start from the beginning, grind along for a while untill you finally reach the limit for human patience, and give it all up, I say go for it!

The MP2 engine hasn't aged to well, so it makes sense to place your time and effort with the engine that will give you the best possible game when it gets finished.

Well.... PK was supposed to be a source mod but they just announced that they're switching to the Unreal Engine.  :?

So yes.

i'd like to see A Starfox source game, i was very disapointed to find out that PK switched to a Engine that i havn't played before.

as long as it's still free and you don't have to redo everything (I assume you don't since you've already ported to garrys mod.  I don't care which way you go ,but I think i'd be alright with the switch to source mod sinc Pk is no longer a option for me since they switched engines......(Sigh) besides you'd have alot more flexiblity  and might even be able to get flying into the game better.

Oh and have fun with Half life episode 2  :P

 

ONe last thing: I'd like to  play with ya on garrys mod sometime if your okay with that.

As long as it doesn't mean you need to start all over again and I still voice angelo (I'm a greedy bastard) I'm cool with it.

And finding help with it to make it go faster won't be that hard since there are probably alot of people who mod with source.

Well it's only going to be an engine change. So all the story, characters and elements will still remain.

Well, considering that my brother

has HL2, maybe I could make it work

with it, so I say that if it does not really

forces you to lose progress, you can

give it a try.

most likely it will be like the orignial project Kursed free.

Well, unlike Max Payne 2, Source is editable from the source code, allowing completely NEW gameplay. So gameplay won't be the exact same as Half-Life and stuff.

I know, but I'm asking will it still be a third person shooter? Or at least have TPS elements along with Arcade shooting?

I can't say, at this point, if there will be on-rail arcade style shooting. But there will likely be more emphasis on ground-based third person combat.

I was also thinking of some slight RPG elements such as leveling up a character. To improve their accuracy, speed, strength, etc.

Suppose you're right. Well, for now, I'll focus on basic gameplay and add all the random extras, afterward.

yes I have to agree with him i think your just piling up more work on yourself...

I mean I really have been keeping my mouth shut on subject like this until now rob ,because I didn't want to hurt your feelings.... I'm sorry.

Yeah, I would definitely want Source vs. MP2, especially since alien swarm was released with full source code!

Source is a garbled mess which is why people are moving to unreal, or are waiting for rage which promases to be excelent technically.
