Dermot
What are your favorite foods? There are too many possible options to list, so no automated polling on this one. Maybe I'll do a desserts poll sometime, but this poll is about meal entrees - breakfast, lunch or dinner. :3This is also yet another lame excuse for Food Porn. X3 (Note that you don't have to post pictures - it can just be fun. :3)Here are some of mine. *hums the recipe selection music from Personal Trainer: Cooking and Cooking Guide*Chicken alfredoPizza MargheritaOrange chickenButtermilk pancakes
Vy'drach
I do love most types of pasta, and that chicken alfredo made me hungry again, even though I ate not long ago. (I may have to go and cook me up some spaghetti).I also love sea food, my favourite being halibut. And the Wiki on the halibut, which describes the fish and type of meat it has.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HalibutI also happen to love crawdads. I prefer then boiled or their tail meat deep fried. (That's good eats right there)And of course the wiki on them.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CrawdadsAnd, depending on what it's made with of course, I love Japanese yakisoba noodles. And the wiki on it.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YakisobaAlso, has anyone here ever tried frog legs? If not, they really do taste like chicken, that's not a cliche, they really do, and I recommend you try them at least once just to say that you have. Dermot
Ooooooooooh, I love tilapia. Forgot all about that. X3I also really like salmon cake, with applesauce and lemon juice. But I haven't had it in years. Salmon are endangered in the Atlantic, and have to be precariously farmed there. They're also endangered in Alaskan Pacific waters, but there are still some healthy Pacific stocks.
Vy'drach
I haven't heard anything of salmon being endangered, and they still serve it, so are you sure that's right?
Dermot
I haven't heard anything of salmon being endangered, and they still serve it, so are you sure that's right?Ahh, yes, they still serve it. I just was under the impression they were endangered. Just in the Atlantic, so salmon is now farmed in coastal salmon farms. It's still captured in nets in the Pacific though, but has been depleted around Alaska. Now I really miss salmon cake...and its heavenly aroma. Even if it's considered a foul odor in this landlocked corner of North America I'm currently stuck in.By the way, our friendly neighborhood Sabre just said to me in PM:A Chippy(I would have posted in the thread, but I kep getting the error that wont let me post.)I wonder what a "Chippy" is. Asper Sarnoff
I made a food thread some time ago, so I'm just reposting from there. What I'd order is kind of difficult to explain. The main dish would be centered around a large bit of fine beef. Rare done, of course. In a strong, dark sauce, with fried vegetables such as squash, onions and mushrooms. All with a solid dose of potatoes gratinated in cream and cheese. To round of with, the best dessert there is. Panacotta with homemade raspberry jam. I'll add that I like most sorf of BBQ food. Spareribs, marinated beef, roasted potatos and one of my dads special salads.Chinese food done well is also something I appreciate VERY much.Oh, and salmon is (along with whale) the only seafood I like. You can say what you want, but they are definatively not extinct on this side of the Atlantic. Much of it comes from salmon farms, but there is also no problem getting hold of wild salmon either. Norway is among the largest exporters of salmon, and we have a very viable stock.Salmon pieces packed in aluminium foil with vegetables, herbs and butter, and then roasted in a fire is delicious! Vy'drach
Now some food from my the Greek side of my family. (Some of the few Greek foods that I actually like)Avgolemono soup (Egg lemon soup, basically Greek chicken noodle)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AvgolemonoGreek Saladhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_Salad(Though I do not like olives or tomatoes, so everything except that)Horta (Pretty much means "Greens." My favourite is boiled dandelions, tastes just like spinach, but a bit better)Kleftiko (Basically, lamb roasted over a pit, marinated in garlic and lemon juice)I don't really think a picture is necessary, it looks like roasted meat.Tsoureki (Easter Bread, Greeks use it to celebrate Easter, and the bread is very light, fluffy, and sweet)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TsourekiKoulourakia (A Greek dessert, usually served at Easter, but not necessarily limited to it)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KoulourakiaMan this stuff is so sweet, and fun to make too.Kourabiedes (Christmas cookies, served at Christmas and such, but not necessarily limited to it)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KourabiedesNow these things are so damned sweet, and addictive as hell. Asper Sarnoff
And Asper, whale? People actually kill and eat whales? I thought that those were definitely endangered. Not all species are endangered. Norwegian whalers have very strict quotas and regulations to keep to. One whale to much, or of a wrong species, and they'll have to pay a fine so big they will lose their boat, and still be deeply embedded in debt. It's very expensive, but taste really delicious.
