Guest Para Astaroth
Where I live, there are way too many 'jump scare' movies, so I'm picking the 'psychological' one. I've watched one and I was quite pleased with the movie
Guest DRL
I am not really much into thehorror genre... Not that I do notwatch one sometimes, but todaythere is TOO MUCH blood, gore, ect.In the past the thing was to 'scare' -not show a bad guy ripping out someone'sintestines... Asper Sarnoff
Western 'jump'-scare. At least they can get me my heart up in my throat if they're good. I don't find any of that phycological horror scary. The original Ring being a good example of that. Not once during the whole film did I get a hint of scared, and that kind of defeats the point in a horror movie.
Vy'drach
Since I prefer old-school slasher films, I had to pick the "jump" genre, but I tended to find them scary for reasons other than them suddenly appearing. My favourite horror person would have to be Jason Voorhees, just because of some of the later movies, my personal favourite being Friday the 13th part 8: Jason Does Manhattan. When he's chasing the people around the city, he doesn't run after them, he walks, and he still catches up to them. That's what scares me about him right there, the fact that he's basically thinking, "No, go ahead and run, but I will find you, and I will kill you." That type of thing where you have monsters that represent guilt, lust ect generally make me more confised then scared, sometimes they are just silly. Also it defies logic. Why not just but the tv screen down. She'd be buggered then.

tomas20
I'm a big Silent Hill video game fan, so I'll have to say Psychological. I've always enjoyed figuring out everything at the climax of the movie/game. Where all questions are answered as to the origin of monsters, etc. Like, most of it comes down to the protagonists mental stability. Like the movies, Stephen King's: Secret Window and The Number 23.But that doesn't mean I don't enjoy the jumpy kind of horror movie. Though, I think most of today's movies use WAY too many predictable jump scenes. That, and most of today's movies only care about making movies as bloody and gory as possible (Yes, I'm looking at YOU, Saw... stupid gore porn). The idea behind it is kind of strange, but yeah.

The point is these films are sex, pain, blood. No story beyond that.
Guest DRL
I think I go with Psychological. The Ring I saw it once with somefriends, and after that Freedy vs Jason...Not that the later one was not cool (it wasquite), but I think the first one was cooler.I just like the... 'Mystery/Supense' combination...
