Here in this thread, we're here to talk about the law, the cops, arrests, the slammer, and sentencing.  What we know about it, what we would like to learn about it, fact vs. fiction, etc.  I got a bunch of friends who have served a dime, and have told me lots of stuff.  Let's NOT talk about weapons making/smuggling, illegal activities/breaking the law, beating up, "shanking"or killing someone, how to escape, or how to pick locks or steal stuff.

One friend of mine, whom I met in youth group/sunday school, had served a dime, he warned me that in prison, don't let anyone do anything for you, they are not your friend, and if they do you even ONE nice thing, you'll end up "owing them", and they'll make you "pay up"...

Don't run from the cops, they will give chase, and you get some maniac cops in the city, especially, who will shoot first and ask questions later.  In L.A., lots of unarmed suspects have been needlessly shot just 'cause they ran away from a cop who shouted "Hey, you, get over here!".

NEVER take a package from/for ANYONE across international borders, even if you saw what went in it.  If they won't ship it via postal or parcel service, it's probably illegal to have/possess.  Many have been arrested/jailed in brutal conditions in foreign countries because of this.

MANY countries have a "Guilty until proven innocent" legal system, unlike America.  Confessions have been beaten out of innocent people.  Also, you could languish in jail/prison for years without a trial or even a hearing.

Diplomatic Immunity does NOT protect diplomatic personnel from parking violations, and it can be revoked by the Embassy, Consulate, or the Government of the Nation they represent.

...this is all a fraction of what I know/remember so far...

What do you mean 'served a dime'?

It's an American expression for "Spent time in jail".

Don't talk back to a cop either, lest you want to know what a taser feels like.

If your woman is mad at you, there is nothing she would like to see more than you getting your ass kicked.

True.  Also, don't lie to a cop, either.  Especially if they ask if you got any "priors", they can scan your ID and/or detain you and find out...

If you get pulled over:

Turn on your hazard lights, and when possible, find a safe spot to pull over and come to a full stop.  No cop, judge, or jury would fault you for trying to be safe.

Turn off your radio, set your transmission to "Park", set your handbrake, turn off your engine, take off any shades you're wearing (cops HATE avoided eye contact), and put out your cigarette, or swallow/dispose of properly your gum (when applicable).

Address the officer as "Officer".  Showing respect towards someone with a badge and a gun is a smart thing to do...

NO JOKING AROUND.  Saying something stupid like "Hey, you guys, be quiet back there!" can get you into serious trouble.

Don't act surly or panicky, and don't try to argue with a cop over what said cop claims you did.

A 7-year old girl. What the Fuck?!

At least the warrant was actually for a real criminal instead of for weed, but they do the same shit for that, too.

Doesn't surprise me this coming out of the most dangerous city in the nation for homicides. :(  It's really painful to see something like this happen  :(
