Your take on: Andross

Only he has the brains to rule Lylat! But apart from that, what do really know about Andross? Is he a true villain without any straw of empathy? Or simply a misunderstood genious, victim of unfortuante circumstances?

What's your take on this character? Do you like, or dislike him? And why? And anything else related to this character.

If you take the original comics, which while considered noncanon, can still apply in this situation, Andross was responsible for the death of both of Fox's parents. Andross was in love with Vixy, and jealous of James, so he rigged a car bomb for James, but Vixy's car did not work that day, so James let her use his, and the bomb killed her instead, causing intense grief to both James and Andross, and likely made Andross more mentally unstable than he had been previously, and increased his hatred for James.

What can I say? I consider him

to be the 'first true enemy' of Star Fox Team.

BUT, he has been defeated, killed, as his

time for Mega-Lo-Mania is over.

I say Nintendo should abandon him and

move to a new villain. Sure, maybe we

can have cameos, but in this case,

he has been... 'slain'. There is

no point in making him return as a villain;

we all know his methods, his attacks, ect.

To me, he was cool back at

SF64/SF2/SF, but that is it.

Andross is a rather underrated character, I think. He's always cited as "not staying dead", even though he's one villain I wouldn't mind see coming back if done right. And he has the means of doing so, too.

I like to take influence from the SNES comic for him. The backstory of being raised in an adoptive family that was killed in a Cornerin military accident, the romantic attraction to Vixy that resulted in her accidental death, and the personal factor in his vendetta against the McCloud family. My favorite moment of Andross actually comes from Farewell Falco:

p53t.jpg

His cloning ressurection incomplete, yet he still can remember the raw hatred he has for the McCloud family. It sort of gives a personal connection between him and Fox that most heroes and villains don't have.

I sort of always saw Andross as one of those man-and-monster types. A collected, intelligent, sensible doctor, who wants revenge for the injustices against him, and make himself emporer of the system. All he has is Herbert and Andrew, and even they are slipping away from him. If you notice in Area 6, when you answer Andross' messages on the C buttons, he fist says "Ah, the son of James McCloud", with a -mostly- normal voice that has some distoriton. Then as you receive his other messages they become almost intelligible, followed by silence. Maybe Andross did his experiments on himself to become a giant telekinetic head at that moment and was mutating? Was he desperate and not expecting Starfox to be so victorious? Its possible, I think. Command supports this in parts of the game, where Dash muses on Andross, and how it was sad he let himself be consumed by anger and madness.

This all said, I sort of hated how they just pasted Andross to the end of SFA. If the big guy is going to make a come back, he needs to have adequete build up. I also wouldn't mind seeing Andross in his non-giant-head form.

If he were portrayed as he was in the Nintendo Power comics, I might respect him, and Command actually came pretty close to that. That's one of the reasons I liked Command: There was a lot of moral ambiguity surrounding Andross.

Exactly. Andross should be the kind of villain that, while you can never justify his actions, you can at least sympathize with his causes.

I hate that guy...

He's a true villain without any straw of empathy.

That makes pretty much the perfect villain. You don't want a villain that's all lollipops and rainbows (though that would be hilarious), you want one that will burn down an orphanage simply because he can. That happens to be why I like Richard from the Lookingforgroup comics (though he isn't a "villain," he still did burn down an orphanage, then claimed self defense)

gonna be honest, one of my least favorite villians, he is also one of the most boring villians

the version of him from the Nintendo Power comic was better IMHO

^This, definitely. One of the best videogames ever. Cold, ruthless, manipulative, and insane. It is quite satisfying to see him defeated him in 64 and Adventures.

I would not mind though, it if Nintendo put's in a new main enemy for the next game like they did with Assault.

My input...

If Nintendo is going to put in a new enemy, then I hope they put some effort into developing it instead of the generic Aparoids and Anglar Emperor.

I liked the whole intergalactic mad-scientist thing they had going on with Andross, with the story-telling that games are now capable of acheving that wasn't quite possible back in the 90's, they could make quite an interesting and layered villain out of Andross, especially with insights into his character that are given the Itoh comic and SF Command.

Now if only Nintendo made her a refference or cameo or even playable character...

That bastard Oo

I bet Fox's mom is hot :D

I wish they would have made Andross more of a challenge, he is way too easy imo.

Apparently, Fara looks strikingly similar to Vixy.

Yep.  Throughout the fandom that's been agreed.  There's only 1 known image of Vixy, an old photograph of her holding Fox as a baby.
