Rally X and Star Fox Assault?

Has anyone here ever noticed that the S Flags in Star

Fox: Assault are very similar if not the exact same

flags as the ones in the 1980 arcade game New Rally X?

My guess is that this isjust for old times sake,

as Namco put this flag sprite in many

of their games way back in the 80's.

There was an awful lot of homage-paying in Assault by Namco. Xevious, of course, was the largest one, but there was also a brief cameo of a canine version of Shion Uzuki from Xenosaga in the Corneria level (the reporter on the screen). Good stuff.
