DZComposer
Since some of you apparently think it is cool/entertaining/whatever to flood the report system with bogus reports, I have disabled it for three days.
Kursed
Maybe we're finding something completely offensive....
DZComposer
The report function is not for posts you don't like. It is for rule violations. When you make a report, it sends them to our inboxes. If you send a bunch of reports that aren't for rule violations, you are essentially spamming us. "User"
Maybe we're finding something completely offensive....Consider though, that If NONE of the staff (and I'm sure most everyone else if it was make public) find it offensive and if the same person who reports it has, in the past, reported very trivial things that could constitute taking up (or in some cases wasting) the staffs time you would think that maybe...just maybe...it's not at all offensive? I'm not saying people should stop reporting things but really...just maybe review said offending post again and try to approach it from a different angle to see if it's really worthy of being reported in the first place? The report function is not for posts you don't like. Scott7
okay... is this really how to react? I mean Come on guys! he was asking a simple question... Sure, I can understand that some reports might come in more often then they should reguarding a topic. But Seriously... There's no need to reply with that sort of tone in the text...
Xortberg
okay... is this really how to react? I mean Come on guys! he was asking a simple question... Sure, I can understand that some reports might come in more often then they should reguarding a topic. But Seriously... You know, I'm not about to say the staff can do no wrong, but think about things a bit. DZ is, in my experience, not one to do things rashly. He's seemed reluctant to do things I wouldn't have hesitated to do because he's worried about being fair. If he thinks this is appropriate, I'm rather inclined to trust him. DZComposer
Well, when you get a bunch emails in a day about frivolous reports, it is understandably frustrating. We have to go through shit just as you do around here. Only we also have to deal with everyone else's shit. I'm seriously getting frustrated with these feelings that us staff are just power-mad assholes that enjoy pushing peons around. I actually quite dislike having to deal with some of the crap I have to deal with, and to have people talking about power hunger it offends me. I don't want to be the BOFH over this, but I am getting really damn close to snapping and becoming one.

I was only advising him of an alternative way to look at things and as such I consider it being helpful. I fail to see how I had a negative tone in the way I worded things at all, it was clearly not my intention but if he wants to take it as such then that's his prerogative. Dz... We're getting tired of the sh!t... you as well as i Do, know That i'm not the type to rage... But Really... taking this ability away is just going to far.I was only advising him of an alternative way to look at things and as such I consider it being helpful. I fail to see how I had a negative tone in the way I worded things at all, it was clearly not my intention but if he wants to take it as such then that's his prerogative.Well... I apologise then. -_-'Sorry... I'm just a bit stressed about this...I'm seriously getting frustrated with these feelings that us staff are just power-mad assholes that enjoy pushing peons around. It's just when you have alot of pm's complaining about a particular topic, all revolving around the same one, Can't a warning or at least some advice be given to the person starting the fuss? "User"
That's not what I'm saying man. It's just when you have alot of pm's complaining about a particular topic, all revolving around the same one, Can't a warning or at least some advice be given to the person starting the fuss? And in those cases action IS taken. The vast majority of the time though, it isn't "a lot" of PM's and most of the time it's from the same person or, in some cases, two people that are, pardon my choice of words, being obnoxious about it. You have 0to understand that we have to look at both signs of the equation here (which is more difficult than people think). From what I've seen, if it's multiple people complaining about a post that one person makes then yes, action is taken almost every single time. However, it's very easy to tune out "repeat offenders" when it comes to reporting things that, for all intensive purposes, shouldn't even be reported.
Milkyway64
It's not hard to figure out this is me. I have a message to the reporters;Ha! Ha ha! Ha!Honestly, I haven't even done anything. Your vendetta is your business, not any of the staffs'. Seriously now.
Scott7
Right... I See what you mean. I only just assumed that if there were alot of reports they would be from more then just 2. Honestly, I actually would've expected a limit to how many reports you could send from the same topic or something....And... Again, I'm sorry for the overeaction. I might've jumped to conclusions a bit sooner then i should have, I guess it's just how the post was laid out or something.... -_-'
Sabre
Once again not naming names, and as for the power mad thing, I think some staff do and have seen it kill entire forums in some cases, but that's off topic. When I first started reading this thread I assumed it was me, but apparently that is not the case.As I said in my return thread, durig my temp ban something else happened elsewhere that made me come to various conclusions. One of those was the idea that people who purposfully twist a wording or pretend to miss a certain point are trolling. Not only that, but bringing a disagreement from another thread is also something I've considered report worthy for the same reason. Steve
I'm not sure if I entirely agree with the whole decision of taking the report feature off for 3 days, however, I do agree that 50% of the reports are silly. I don't believe we are getting a ton of reports, so we can handle them even if some of them are silly. With all seriousness, if you get annoyed by the slightest thing, solve it through pms with the member you have trouble with, instead of issuing a warning. DZComposer
OK, I'll turn it back on. Just please only use the report feature for its intended purpose.
