Vy'drach
Shame Sony has made a disc that can hold a terabyte of data, so their next console will likely beat Nintendo's.

Guest Mr. Nintendo
By the time the next console from Nintendo is out, they need to get serious with the games coming out for it and...well, I don't want it to be a kiddie console like the Wii. El Zorro de la Estrella
Totally agree Mr. N. Nintendo is seriously pushing away harcore gamers these days. Sadly, they are gonna follow the money, especially with the global economy the way it is now. And, the games they do for Wii are gonna sell more due to families buying them. Sabre
I just saw this news and came to do a little sceptical beatdown, but DZ beat me to it ...kind of. The problem here is sources. Specifically this started as a game informer article. Since then every website and blog has been twisting the truth either accidently or in a way to grab the bullshit 'exclusive', IGN being one of those. All we know is that a new nintendo console is likely to be shown at E3. The rest has to be taken with a mountainous pile of salt.

Zzz
Totally agree with DZ there. But let me elaborate on my thoughts on the Wii... Even tho Metroid Prime 3 Corruption was a Wii game, it was still a continuation of a Gamecube game series. I don't even need to talk about the Metroid Prime Trilogy. Also, Twilight Princess was a gamecube game ported over to the Wii, let's don't forget that. Smash Bros Brawl gave me weird designs, unnecessary stuff and overall a bland experience. NO Starfox, NO F-Zero... And you now I could go ON and ON about why I don't like the Wii. But for me as a gamecube owner, the Wii didn't offer anything worth picking up. With the possible exception of You Are Mr Gay and...well I don't know maybe Mario Kart or something. But I would never buy a console only for Mario games. Many know I hate EVERYTHING about Metroid Other M. And to me, that's the game that symbolically stands for the whole Wii era. I'm quite disappointed that I had to skip this console generation. Bring on the new console and give me some GAMES.

Do we REALLY need a treabyte of data for games? Seems a little excessive. How would they ever fill it?
sjrathbun812
I really hope they give us a Starfox game for this new console....Sure, remakes are fine. But I want some MODERN stuff you know? All Nintendo has been doing is making remakes and saying, "Oh hey, remember this game? Let's port it to the Wii!" :P

Fire Yoshi
If most of this is true, and Nintendo actually wants to bring out more hardcore gamming, then I hope they bring back controller gamming. As in, make it so every game is compatible with a controller as well as motion control.

Nintendo wants to bring back hardcore gamming, but to do that and keep up the sales, they need to use both control styles. The folk homes would be pissed. :P

Sabre
Do we REALLY need a treabyte of data for games? Seems a little excessive. How would they ever fill it? Yes. Rage's dev build (uncompressed) is at 1tb and growing. They are having a hard time squeezing it onto 2 DVDs so it might have to expand to 3. Oblivion had to cut huge amounts of content, mostly speach. Dead Space 2 filled up 2 Xbox DVDs which are just under 7gb each (bare in might that games don't use a full disc, they need to include system files, DRM ect.) With new PC games reaching about 12gb these days, a next gen game filling up a 25/50gb blu ray isn't to far fetched. It's also worth noting that short sighted people have always said "We will never need drives bigger then X" but that has been proven wrong time and again. No matter how big you make the discs, devs will find a way to fill them, even if it just means higher rez textures.
DZComposer
Oh, dear. The codename is "Project Café," apparently. That doesn't inspire visions of awesomeness, but rather visions of Coffee, Mac fanboys, hipsters, and more casual gaming. IGN is reporting that it will ship with a standard controller with a DS-Esque LCD touchscreen. Fresh Rumors: CPU: Triple-Core PowerPC (same architecture as Wii/GCN, so it will likely run those games native), also rumors of a similar architecture to Xbox360 (Note that architecture alone means nothing, performance wise. The 10 year old computer your grandma has that can barely run Solitare and a $6000 gaming rig that can play anything you throw at it at 1920x1080 at full settings are both x86 architecture machines). RAM: >= 512MB Video: AMD ATi R700-based, VRAM >= 512MB (Think RadeonHD 4x00 series) Controller: Standard pad with accelerometers, 6" Touchscreen, and a camera Some are saying that the graphical power will not surpass Xbox360 or PS3. http://www.develop-online.net/news/37510/Wii-2-Fresh-rumours-emerge-on-Project-Cafe Of course, Nintendo is keeping quiet on all of this, so nothing official yet. As far as storage media, Sony did not develop that disc alone. They were part of a consortium. The consortium controls licensing of the tech, not Sony, so it is possible that Nintendo could use it. There are also other technologies out there, though, so the media could be anything. Regardless, Nintendo is likely to roll their own version of whatever tech they choose for piracy reasons. Prince Elite
If this is true, then Nintendo have to stand up, dust off the Star Fox series and deliver a game that surpasses all others.
Ghieri
Well, if this turns out to be true, I'll probably sell my Wii ASAP because the next Starfox game would most likely be for the new console. And right now all I care about from Nintendo is a new Pikmin and a new Starfox.
