An RP idea that's a little different. While I do have another RP up. This one I'll have on the backburner, ready to go when I'm done with my current one.

RP Name/Title: Call of the Forsaken

Style: Forum

Theme: Survival Horror

Goal: Described below

Player count: Any

Back story: You are one of a team of mercenaries hired to investigate the disappearance of a town, a former vacation resort on Zoness, nicknamed 'The Closest Place to Heaven', really known as Montero City. It just simply vanished, according to General Pepper, and he had already sent some of his men to investigate this. However, whenever Pepper tried to make contact with them, all he got was static.

Something is obviously wrong, and you were all sent on your way, going your separate paths to rendezvous in the town square, or at least where it used to be. However, upon landing, you, and the other mercs can easily notice something wrong. A deep, thick fog pervades the area, and you're in the town, in it's own sense, however, there is no signs of life around... And when you attempt to make contact with General Pepper, all you receive is static... The ships seemed to malfunction, the roads out of town seemed to become cliffs and it seems there's more in this fog than just any vehicles, buildings, or even the soldiers sent before you... this fog has an almost... demonic feeling... Something is obviously wrong... Sirens sound through the air... As monstrosities begin to form... What was once a normal mission has become a desperate attempt to escape this nightmare...

RULES OF THE RP:

This is based in a Silent Hill-esque setting... The town itself, Montero, is in a state of chaos, caught in a flux between a world of nightmares, dubbed the 'OtherWorld', and our reality. The town will occasionally flux into this 'OtherWorld', signified by the sounds of sirens wailing, sending an echo through the town. This 'OtherWorld' only barely is similar to the town, but is known by symbolizing darkness, decay, death, and isolation. There, of course, are demonic entities, but their form is not definate... Their form varies, depending on one's fears, regrets, and inner darkness. The only creatures that appear the same are the entity Valtiel, and the 'Nurses' that occasionally roam the streets. You can either be one of the stranded militia or one of the now-stranded mercs. Townsfolk and other NPC types will be played by me.

I will be GM'inf for this RP. I will be the one to provide the bulk of responses to your posts, barring interaction of some kind with another player.

Valtiel: Appears in: Every sort of locale. He is usually seen before the shift to the 'Other World', or in the off-chance someone dies in the 'Other World', he appears and drags the dead off to resurrect them at a certain point. He is usually seen turning a valve whilst spasming horribly. NOTE: If dead, you will respawn at an isolated point.

Nurses: Appear in: The Hospital, any medical related area, occasionally roam the streets. They travel in 'packs' of at least 3, and at most 20. They appear as normal nurses you could find in any hospital, except the way they move is 'wrong'. It appears their upper half is barely attatched (in the figurative sense, as in, it just looks like their upper body is hanging and flops around occasionally. They aren't cut in half literally) and they are covered in what seems to be blood. They are generally very well armed, utilizing firearms and knives with terrifying expertise. They have no inhibitions, seem to not realize if they are injured, and strike with strength that overpowers even the strongest soldier. Obviously, they're most prevalent in a hospital.

Other creatures: Feel free to create your own monster and how it behaves! How it attacks, and how it appears to you! Let your imagination fly at this.

The goal of the RP is to try to actually find out what's going on, find any surviving militia, and then find a way to escape.

CHARACTER RULES:

Okay, now we have gotten the basics out of the way, here's how we create our characters! I know we all have established characters, but I'm going to be taking a more stand-offish approach to this RP. I won't have a character, but I will GM for everyone else.

STEP ONE:

Assign status points. This is pretty simple, it's to make things interesting by giving us an exact idea on how good your character is in certain areas and give me something to base what your characters can and cannot do when confronted with a specific obstacle. They are separated into Primary and Secondary attributes.

PRIMARY ATTRIBUTES: You must put at least 1 point into all of these.

STRENGTH: Your character's ability to move heavy things, how devastating their melee attacks are, etc. A single point spent equals 30 lbs. of lifting power.

AGILITY: How fast your guy can run. Important if you need to escape hordes of monsters, and also can help in scouting. 6 points is average running speed. 14 points is Olympic level.

STAMINA: How good your pain tolerance is, how long you can run, fight, go without sleep, etc. Average is 6 points, which equals 3 or so minutes of strenuous activity before getting tired. So every point is 30 seconds of strenuous activity. Pain tolerance, well, to be an Ironman, you need 14 points in this.

INTELLECT: How smart, witty, and obviously intelligent your character is. Please try to use words APPROPRIATE for your intellect. 6 is average intelligence, 14 is genius level.

You get 35 primary attribute points.

EXAMPLE ON HOW TO SPEND THEM:

Bob is a strong, and durable fellow, but sadly none too fast or bright. Thus, here are his stats:

STR- 14

AGI- 4

STA- 13

INT- 4

So, according to this spread of stats, Bob can lift up to 420 lbs. (Wow!), and can take a lot of pain, as well as perform strenuous things for up to 6 1/2 minutes before feeling fatigue at all. However, poor guy is easier to overcome and he's easy to outwit.

SECONDARY ATTRIBUTES: All of these abilities are optional, but show your char's abilities in greater detail. (average score in these is 8, expert score is 18)

MELEE: Simple. How good you are with a close-distance weapon, as well as how good you can maintain it. Not needed, but it still affects how good you are with 'em.

FIREARMS: How good you are with guns, blasters, and the like you might find scattered across the town. Be ammo efficient, though~

COMPUTERS: Well, show us your l33t h4xx0r skills! Affects your ability at gathering info via a computer.

FIRST AID: How good are you at aiding others? Can you reset someone's broken leg? Will you be able to stop the bleeding of wounds? And do you know how to use a medical kit?

LOGIC: How good are you at thinking things through? Can you make careful plans? Well, if so, this is for you.

DEXTERITY: Not a primary attribute because I say so. How quick are your reflexes? How deft are you? How sharp are your senses? Could you pull off a pickpocket with skill? Could you react in time to a trap?

WILLPOWER: This is very trying on one's sanity, no? This shows how good you are at coping with a high-stress environment.

You have 66 secondary attribute points. Enough to invest in them all, but to truly be an expert, you must make sacrifices~

Throughout the RP I'm going to put your characters through their paces. To make progress, survive, and all that, your skills will be put to the test. So depending on the situation, I'll be putting obstacles in your paths that serve as 'skill checks.' Say you find a dusty, old computer. Everyone has some skill in computers, but is it enough to get anything useful? I will prompt you to try and find anything useful. With how these skill checks work, you can: not have enough skill to even attempt anything, attempt with a low chance of success, attempt with a high chance of success, and guaranteed success. However, if you attempt something and FAIL, I will come up with something worse happening even if you didn't attempt the skill check at all. So be careful.

STEP TWO:

What is your character equipped with? What is their role? Personality? State of mind at the beginning? A more fragile, or darker mind could override the minds of others, and this would reflect in the 'Other World'... and in turn, make this RP a real thrill, albeit even more deadly for those in it...

OTHER RULES:

Make sure that you are equipped with LOGICAL things. And remember, ammo and supplies are LIMITED, so try to search for them as you search for a way out of this town. Also, it's okay if you die in this, because you will get revived by Valtiel, albeit in a location far from your allies. But that's how it goes. Also, try to make your abilities compliment others. If you work like a team, you shall be able to pull through this successfully! And one last thing: Don't all be the mercenaries looking for the lost troops. It would be nice if we had at least some lost soldier to give this RP some extra depth.

easily in fear of humiliation. Possessed by a demon as a child, exorcised but is still haunted by it. Believed to be lucky,very lucky.

Often hides his physical abilities until needed. Philosophical but not very book-smart,has an average college knowledge. Carries a Makarov

Primary Statistics

Strength: 4: Balsa can lift almost nothing, just little bit, but not much.

Agility: 14 : Balsa can run really fast

Stamina: 10: : Balsa can stab things for 5 minutes straight, then wipe off her brow to do it again.

Intellect: 6: Balsa isnt an idiot, but somethings just escape her notice.

Secondary Statistics

Melee: 18 :As an Armagistra, Balsa can kill anything with anything pointy, stabby, or non shooty.

Firearms: 2 :Balsa knows how to fire a gun. Kinda. Sorta. If you squint. Okay, it might as well explode as soon as she looks at it.

Computers: 2 :Balsa's reply to CPU based doors are to carefully extract the processer to throw against the door. With her glaive.

First Aid: 12 : Wounds can be repiared, restiched, or reattached with balsa's Slightly expanded knowledge of medical shtuff.

Logic: 6 : WHile most of her problems can be solved with" hit until gone", Balsa still has a limited amount of logic behind her actions. Im serious, stop laughing.

Dexterity: 18 : Balsa Can easily balance a plate on her head, whilst reciting shakespear with 8 finger puuppets. While playing Donkey Kong. ON FIRE.

Willpower: 8 : Despite Growing up in hell, when it gets right down to things, Balsa isnt really that stable, nor sain to begin with.

PART TWO:

To Start, Balsa has not her trademarked pole arm. She may or may not assembal a makeshift weapon until she gets it back. Other wise, all she has is the skin of her back, the cloths on her skin on her back, and the armor on the cloths on her skin on her back. The armor only covers her chest and back, and her feet, everywhere else has only a layer of cloth protecting balsa's vital organs.

HEr role is of the fighter, to hold back the tides of enemies while her comrades solve a puzzel or run.

SHe is afraid of many things. Losing her memory, losign her life, being alone, and many other deep deep fears. HEr mind is constantly wandering, placing scenario's for every bad thing that could happen. Her thoughts are dark, her mindset is of her survival, noone elses.

HEr mind stabability is fragile, and even two of her phobias will send Balsa off the deep end.

Her only sanctuary is any bedroom, where she can gather her wits, sleep off the fear, and dream of rescuing her husband.

Vlad always has, and always will be a mystery unto himself. Some say he is old as the sigh that beget the big bang, others will say he his older. When death comes knocking the Grim Reaper calls and takes your soul, putting it in a match box to fairy that soul to the after life. At one point in his life Vlad claimed this as his profession. One thing for certain is that Vlad has a purpose, a purpose that he and no other is privy to. He searches the Omniverse, seeking answers. His treck leads him here and there but if you ask him nicely he might just help. He is cunning and smart, a millitary genius and the domination of one universe (if not many) would be easy task for him. But... He takes the back burner never striving to be the actual leader of anything.

He delights in the task of helping others.

Yet he is a killer.

Strange.

But not as strange if you see the fact that he has lived his life, and is a little ways past his prime. He had his fun, he hell raised, kicked ass and is better for the wear. So he takes what he has learned and helps others while seeking the cosmic solution to his deep dark mission. Maybe searching just one more planet will give him the answer? Maybe the fate of the winds will carry him there, for certainly his own divinations have not.

Good with weapons, gauze, and brains he can just do about everything and do it well if he puts his mind to it. Except computer, those goddamn computers fool him every time no matter how hard he tries. So thus he is. So thus he awaits.

Max is a scientist belonging to the R&D Department of the Cornerian Army.

Specialized in Field Engineering, he is able to acquire and process a wide range of data to evaluate the results of experimentations and identify possible improvements/causes of failures.

This owed him to be sent to Montero as a warrant officer to help the local militaries to investigate of the recent happenings.

As a cornerian military, Max passed Basic Combat and Battlefield First Aid, and is acquainted to firearms operation, even if his computer and logic skills are superior.

His officer rank allows him to carry a personal defense sidearm of his choice in the range of standard available guns.

Nerdy and socially reserved, Max does not craves for adventure, that is why he wasn't enthusiatic when he was sent in Montero, two weeks before the beginning of the RP.

His current official status is "MIA" (Missing In Action).

...

But well, as an active character, he managed to survive! ;)

These two weeks of survival under constant thread have hardened him a bit, although he gained a few scars and persistent injuries in the process...

He wears a field lab-coat above a standard summer uniform (short-sleeved navy blue BDU) and tactical boots.

He's equipped with a holo-projector watch, a pocket computer, some light tools and his DDP-35, a small compact pistol using caseless .45 ammunition as the main firepower and a secondary explosive round launcher attached on it.

Eventually, he carries a backpack and a messenger bag, containing additional stuff (food, first aid kit, supplies...) in medium quantities.
