Nintendo's been hacked.

Was looking around some news feeds, and I found out that one of Nintendo of America's servers was hacked recently. The group that claims responsibility call themselves LulzSecurity.

Apparently no information was taken but the group went on to say the hack was "just for lulz" and "We're not targeting Nintendo, We like the N64 too much; we sincerely hope Nintendo plugs the gap."

..............Seriously, what the fuck?! We get something serious like the PSN hack recently, then some group goes on to do something this stupid.

I don't know about you guys, first Sony, now Nintendo, I'm getting the feeling that Microsoft is next.

As bad as it could potentially be, I hope Microsoft gets hacked. I'm sick of by XBox fantard friends talking about how Sony sucks for getting hacked and saying it'd never happen to XBox.

As for this incident, I love it. It's totally hilarious.

Hahaha. They didn't take anything, which is good; I imagine they're just pointing out security flaws in hopes that the companies will do better.

There's enough hacking on Windows alone. :) But yes, it would be lulzy to see Xbox LIVE get hacked.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I heard about them just yesterday, and they did the same thing with PSN ( or that's what I heard ).

Friend of mine said he saw on one of Microsoft's sites that they actually were hacked around the same time as the PSN, but nothing actually happened to them, and Microsoft just didn't really care about it. Not sure how accurate that is, but like I said, what I heard.

I heard about these guys last weekend. I gotta say that it's kind of hilarious! I think most of the people that laugh at the psn hack are just too blind to think it couldn't happen to them though... it's most likely gonna happen, so be ready haha

Guest Mr. Nintendo

Why must I always cause bad luck everytime I get the feeling something bad happens?!?

Well, if its "for de lulz" then Nintendo better get their security better or else they may end up like Sony soon...

Here's to hoping Nintendo increases their security... At least nothing was taken.

I'd take this story with moutainous piles of salt. The current news narrative is security, so security news = page views = money.

Assuming it is real, it's not uncommon.

Also, a 'hack' can be anything. Did they break into nintendos online shop or online games systems? No. They copied some website configs that are already out dated.

It's real, the group posted the httpd.conf from Nintendo's webserver. I have seen it myself, and I highly doubt it is fake. The file referenced long-dormant domains that Nintendo owns that not many people know about. Plus, Nintendo confirmed a webserver breach, and that they have fixed the security flaw they exploited.

The good news is said httpd.conf file is the only thing they took. Accodring to their Twitter, these guys were just "warming up" on Nintendo. Their real target is the FBI (which will likely lead to their downfall).

If hacking Nintendo was just for pun fun, I certainly hope hacking the FBI will lead to a worldwide punomenon! *snickers at the Incredibly Lame Pun*

Weren't these the guys that claimed they were the ones that hacked Sony?

Seriously, this is no longer funny; it's downright annoying.

That's what I've been saying for quite a while now.

Guys, this hack was not really noteworthy. All they got was a config file that was likely changed by the time it was made public.

Nothing to see here, move along.

Lulz: 1) Humor at one's expense. 2) The word that makes me want to run somebody down with a monster truck.

You're kidding. That has to be the worst idea in the long, sad history of bad ideas; they're just asking for their asses to get kicked with that tactic. not that I care, of course. the less hackers that make people's lives miserable there are, the better.

God why don't these guys just leave gamers..no scratch that PEOPLE alone I mean I have a 360 (which I play frequently) and a PS3 (which I play alot too) It was bad enough when PS3 was hacked but at least I had a backup AKA my 360 to hold me off until Sony got ALL the bugs worked out (I'm still waiting to see if anything else happens on PS3 thats why I havn't played as much) but if the 360 gets hacked geez what do I do than I mean I won't be able to game :( And I mean what are they doing it for "For fun" if they consider hacking fun than thats just wrong in my opinion it gets some people (Me for example) paranoid/worried whether it will be our computers and other important stuff next I mean I just got an i-phone for my b-day what if that gets hacked geez what next TVs it's ridiculous.

These hackers need to be splattered arrested. They're causing even more problems than they think they are.

Do I really need to say anything else?

Really, like others said, there are hackers who do it to help companies fix security issues before anything serious happens. It really is only a matter of time before Microsoft gets hacked by these guys as well. Here's to hoping these guys get caught before they go too deep into the information and expose something that would be detrimental to a company's well-being. Then what will the excuse be?

"It was for the lulz?" Yeah, these guys seem a little off for a group of hackers who are "looking out for gamers". At least I think so
