Thu'um
DO peoples oppions govern what you do? are bothered by them? or mabye you just don't care? I for one Always take head of others postive personal oppions, but if its somthing i don't like....It means nothing to me. Example: many of you probobly think i might need to improve my typing. I see what your saying, but i don't really care. ( even though its against my lazy nature i have been working a little harder on it) But how about you guys? Xortberg
It depends, really, on what they're offering their opinions about. If it's a creative piece of mine, then I'll take opinions very seriously. I want to improve, and will only do so if I take into account criticism so I can correct my faults. If it's over a belief of mine, I'll listen to what someone else has to say, and if I don't agree with it, I'll just let it pass.
Milkyway64
I am of the belief that all people and words deserve to be heard. I've rarely ever blocked anyone on any medium, because even if they piss me right off, I feel like there may be worth in holding a way for them to contact me. Sabre
Depends what opinions you are on about. I only have issues with opinions when they are based on or rationalized by bad logic or lies. For example, if you don't like Mass Effect, that's your opinion, I don't care. If you say you don't like Mass Effect because it's all about sex, then we have a problem. Another example would be an artist who had a work safe fetish had a christian crazy type going on about how her art was bad because she was immoral and how all sex leads to sin, and so on. The opinion is based on a lie and the false assuption. Another related subject is more about beliefs. You can believe in ghosts, UFOs, whatever, as long as it doesn't hurt or bother anyone. Nudists are offencive to most people so that's a problem. If you like to wear womens underwear, no one knows and if they do there is no harm. There is a website called "Whats the harm?" where it tracks the money, injury and death cost of people with irrational beliefs.
Drasiana
The fact that you can't spell worth a damn isn't an opinion, but whatever. It is however a common "opinion" that you're being awfully inconsiderate to expect us to attempt to translate your posts because we never know what you're saying, but you've made it clear that you don't give a shit, so now the opinion is just that you're kind of a brat. Seriously, just download a goddamn Firefox extension and be done with it. I take what people say into consideration all the time. It's necessary in my chosen field as well as many of my personal ones (drawing, music, etc) to recieve a hearty amount of critique to make sure we're on the right track. But the trick is keeping a balance between this and what I feel comfortable doing. Example; I write a story whose premise, characters, plot, etc. I'm happy with. Someone tells me, however, to do something absurd: "well, why don't you make this a romantic comedy?". That's nice, but no, I don't want to write a romcom so I'm not going to. ThePointingMan
Ooooo why didn't I think of that, Spell check Firefox add-on, here I COME! Oh wait... I have it already, and use it frequently... completely forgot about that... I'd rather everyone have a good opinion of me, I mean really, who wouldn't. I don't think it's possible not to be effected by knowing someone has a negative opinion of you, but I also think a lot of people would like to think it doesn't bother them, but that's just my "opinion"

ballisticwaffles
I really dont care waht people think of me. It honestly never bothered me much to hear people openly mock me. Heck, i usually smile and say have a nice day as they walk away.
Matrilwood
Normally if someone has an opinion, I consider it and then choose to act upon or not act upon what they said. I never disagree with anyone, but sometimes their opinion is irrelevance to me. Unfortunately when ever someone has a critical opinion on me, it almost never constructive, so I have absolutely no way of improving on that even if I want to, it always along the lines of; "You are stupid because you are stupid" I don't know WHY they think I'm stupid, all I know is I'm doing something that apparently is a stupid thing to do. What I don't like is how people think that all opinions are mutually exclusive, as an example say, if one person says you can put apples in the box, and another persons says you can put pears in the box, then they will start fighting over whether you can put apples or pears in the box. Rin
It depends, really. Sometimes I care, sometimes I don't. If it's from a friend, then I have a tendency to care about it. If it's from a stranger (Particularly a rude one), then I honestly don't care what their opinion is - unless it directly affects me in one form or another. DZComposer
Some opinions bother me, mainly because I fail to see why a person would have them. What bothers me more is when people can't handle different opinions and fly off into defensive insult-fests. Seriously, people need to grow-up and realize that not everyone thinks the same way.
