I used to get the same thing when I was on sites like Devianart before I got my iMac. I didn't know SF-O could do that.

Adblock + Reliable antivirus program. Get them. a spellcheck wouldn't hurt either

I've had no problems with SFO.

It's not entirely impossible. I've gotten virus warnings from SF-O, myself. It most likely has something to do with an embedded image or something of that nature. :P

This is interesting. I've been on this site on both my Laptop and my Desktop.

So far no Viruses, worms, or Trojans.

I can assure you that there is no malware here, and this is the first I heard of this.

More likely, the computer was infected with spyware that popped ads up indiscriminately on any site. Usually that kind of spyware is driven by poorly-secured ad servers that get compromised and turned into malware-spewers from time-to-time.

Get a Mac! :P

(That's rather unlikely that SFO transmits viruses or malwares though... I completely agree with DZ on his explainations)

Or you could use Common Sense 2011 and not shell out money for an overpriced, shiny aluminum computer. Also, clicking linked Krystal pictures is dangerous too.

But yeah seriously dude, you just need to get a good antivirus program (I use AVG or Avast) and the Adblock extension for Firefox. Lots of viruses get transmitted through ads; that's why deviantArt was giving people viruses for a while.

I just use Norton, I have never had any problems from much of anything since I got it.

I remember the days where if you wanted a good anti-virus program or security suite you had to shell out $100 or so lol.

Norton has seen better days though, it's too resource intensive. Back in the day (late 90's and early 2000's) it was among the best stuff you could get. Today, it's silly to spend money on this kind of stuff for a home computer as you can get it all for pretty much nothing.

For real. :T My sister's ex BOUGHT her Norton, and she was so excited. I was like "are you kidding me?" Even my mom knows to delete Norton off of any new computer and install AVG or something.
