Redeemer
I posted this in my journal, but why not make it a topic? It's about a game after all, a game that I believe everyone should check out: So, I've got Xort hooked on one of my favourite games of all time. It's called Grandia, and it was originally released on the Sega Saturn but was brought to PS1 by popular demand. It's a 2 disc epic adventure RPG, with beautiful artwork and story. The characters are all fantastic, with good development and personality, and the music is glorious. It's truly a game I don't think I could live without. I'll post some clips here, because I believe this story needs to be shared with the everyone! It has over 80 hours of gameplay, and has a huge range of weapons and spells to master. I highly recommend that you check out these videos, and if you want to get the game, you can get it for cheap on eBay. I remember when I got my copy. I had broken my ankle, and my sister knew that I had my eye on this game. While I was at the hospital getting my leg reset into place, she went to a video store with my dad and happened to spot it in the preowned section, and convinced my dad to buy it for me. I'm really glad she did. It's honestly a fantastic game. If you watch any clip, I recommend this one. It's the legend in the game, and as you can see, it's really pretty. Sabre
Not played the first one. Told it was very fetch quest heavy early on. I did play Grandia 2, got pretty far then lost my save and never went back to it. While the story was typical JRPG stuff the combat was nice. Redeemer
Not played the first one. Told it was very fetch quest heavy early on. The first task is a fetch item task, but that's it. The purpose of said task is to show you around town and meet the characters. Whoever said it was "very fetch quest heavy early on" was over-reacting. It's only one quest. Xort saw the first quest and said "not sure if want..." and now he's really into it. :
Xortberg
12 hours 42 minutes straight of play time before I finally stop for a break. This game is gooood.

Nope.
I love that game, one of my favourites. :3 ( not the first one maybe, but it's one of them for sure ) I became a Feena fanboy as soon as I saw her in the PAL version of the front picture of the CD cover when I was a little stupid kid. :V This one. Sabre
As someone who hates JRPGs, what is it about the game that makes it special?
DoctorAllosaurus
Just bought it an hour ago, along with many other games. I remember an old middle school buddy of mine recommended it back in 03.
Xortberg
As someone who hates JRPGs, what is it about the game that makes it special? If I had to list the reasons I like it... - PS1 nostalgia (dat bad voice acting) - One of the main characters is Redeemer's avatar, so I feel like I'm on a grand adventure with her - Fun battle system - Interesting story that manages to make me want to decimate society as we know it, erasing all traces of technology and the like so that eventually people will forget all the exploration that's been done and set out on their own adventures - Hella good music And maybe some others that don't come to mind immediately. Redeemer
- One of the main characters is Redeemer's avatar, so I feel like I'm on a grand adventure with her. Awww yeah! We'll have our own adventure on day, mark my words! And until then, I'm right there with you! Sabre, this game is unlike any other JRPG I've played. The whole game is a fantastic adventure, I don't know any other storyline like it. It's just so unique, in my eyes. I don't play many JRPGs, and when I do I always get disappointed because none of them are even close to how epic Grandia is. And Doc Al, yay! Let us know what you think! Guest Mr. Nintendo
Hmm...I guess I'll have to give that game a shot. Looks pretty good...and what can I say? The artwork, it is indeed beautiful!!

If the combat is anything like the second, I'll pass and just listen to the soundtrack on youtube. Everyone wants to hang out with Redeemer I think. Although I don't understand why people can't disconnect reality, internet and fiction. Sabre, this game is unlike any other JRPG I've played. The whole game is a fantastic adventure, I don't know any other storyline like it. One of the reasons I gave up on JRPGs is because I hear that claim about all of them. Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Tales of Symphonia, even Grandia 2. I have my own theories about why I keep hearing the same but that's off topic. I never played the second one, as I haven't even beaten number one yet, so I can't help you there. Also, I can separate reality, Internet and fiction. Quite easily, I might add. I just choose not to when not doing so will enhance an experience, as with this game :D
Redeemer
hmm. If the combat is anything like the second, I'll pass and just listen to the soundtrack on youtube. The second one is kind of sucky compared to the first. The combat system of Grandia 1 is much better. Everyone wants to hang out with Redeemer I think. Although I don't understand why people can't disconnect reality, internet and fiction. Hey, people can hang out with me if they want. :< Xort and I are totally on an adventure, we're going through the game at the same time so it feels good man. Fluxy
Everyone wants to hang out with Redeemer I think. Although I don't understand why people can't disconnect reality, internet and fiction. People want to, yet, sadly, your simple heart can't hang out with her. BUT THERE IS HOPE!!!! Love Grandia, play it, PLAY IT RELIGIOUSLY MAN! And whence you do, the violins and strings will play and cupid will come down. Reality is just like age; It is just a number.

Got plenty of JRPGs I don't like. My favourite game for that so far is Evil Genius so we can compair evil lairs. There was also the idea a while ago of a sort of games book clubs, but nothing ever came of it.

Fluxy
Saber can't read poetry, trololololol. But that is okay, he'll find his love for me yet, and until that day comes, good night, Sweet prince. *Enter Hamlet Speech*

Redeemer
GADWIN WAS A BEAST. I'll never forget how badly he kicked my ass. I'm obtaining the OST as we speak. So much win. I'ma listen to the Seagull Bar theme as I eat my lunch. Because I'm that lame. :
DoctorAllosaurus
I'll be starting this as soon as I get home from work today. Also this is made by Game Arts, they haven't let me down yet so I'll probably enjoy this.
