So I got to thinking. There are some die hard fans who prefer the classic, and some others who prefer modern, and I thought I'd make a poll cause I wanna see how many people prefer classic/modern.

Poll away.

I'm not a die-hard fan of any Sonic stuff, but the classic Sonic games were much better. And that's saying something, because they actually failed pretty hard at being what they tried to be. Kind of hard to be a high speed platformer when going fast makes you die.

New Sonic is just ridiculously bad.

100% vote for classic Sonic because the only great modern 3D Sonic games are Sonic Colors, Sonic Adventure, and Sonic Adventure 2. The rest of the modern games are either meh or suck.

Classic Sonic for me as well; I've played too much of the Genesis games to go any other way; and whenever they attempted to implement 3D it always felt clunky in a way. Sonic generations is shaping up to be quite good though; just saw some Chemical Plant Zone (Sonic 2) gameplay and it doesn't fail to impress! :P

I would have to go with the classic pot bellied black eyed Sonic. The Sonic nowadays is alright I guess, but the classic version was his golden years and was a symbol during the time of the "Great 16-bit wars!"

Classic by a country mile, I haven't played many of the modern ones so it is slightly a nostalgia thing, but the general consensus with fans is that Sonic is much better in 2D than 3D. The modern 2D ones are OK, I enjoyed Sonic 4 and Sonic Rush did the job for a decent enough platformer, but as far as Sonic goes, as far as im concerned Sonic 2 and 3 have yet to be surpassed.

I don't play a lot of sonic these days, come to think of it I never played much but for a short time I did play a bit of both and I enjoyed the classic games better then the modern ones.

Modern Sonic gets a bad reputation, but I actually like those games. My 2 favorite Sonic games are S3&K and Sonic CD, but overall I prefer 3D sonic.

I say classic because most of the newer games were not that great except for the ones on Gamecube and GBA. imo

Sonic is Sonic to me -- no matter if he's the original or the modern version. It's the same blue hedgehog with gloves, red shoes and can run unbelievably fast.

I choose no prefrence. I mean really. Sonic has and always will be cool as long as Sega still has his name floating everywhere. Just like Mario, yeah he's gone through a few changes, updates, and better games, but the Legend of Sonic will forever hold strong.

I think that as long as his counterpart, Mario, is still around, then Sonic will be. So yeah. :-)

I agree with Fox _McCloud2011

Like Mario, Sonic has gone through many years of great games, but will remain as Sonic forever. So classic or modern, 16-bit or 3D, Sonic is and always will be the famous blue blur that he is.
