Prince Elite
Simple question, based on opinions, but let's not berate others for it. Keep it clean.
CrypticQuery
[How many variations of this question are there? XD] Yes; the canon is so screwed up at this point it would be a better idea to brush everything aside and start anew from SF64. At least in my opinion, [Though I'd have to say, I'll miss that Krystal fanart, ]
The Shaper
Reboot the series. Do it. I have already wrote down my explanations 100 times so I'll avoid doing that unless necessary. Besides I feel others will get to it for me.
Psygonis
Yeah, rebooted. I'd be curious if they chose to do it completely, awaiting what they'd come up with! :
Thu'um
Yes, BUT there is alot i like about the current games and i'd liek to see them reoccuer in a new series
El Zorro de la Estrella
Yeah, but only some parts of it. Like AJC said, there's a lot to like from the more recent games; so it would be foolish to just throw it all away.
Harmony Descent
Yes, reboot. Just no more bloody remakes. I don't understand the concept of "remakes" since you're playing a game that's already been made...

chaos_Leader
Yes. See: I would support a reboot, but not just to wipe the slate clean and get rid of all the other things that came after SF64. There are elements brought to the table by Adventures, Assault and Command that have the potential to bring a ton of depth to the series. As they are now though, it's a total mess as DZ puts it. The issue is how detached and disconnected they are from one another. Yes, do a reboot, one that pulls everything together in a clean, well thought out manner that builds on a solid foundation. Personally, I feel that a simple reboot doesn't go far enough, and that a really neat way to go about this whole thing would be to retcon (retroactive continuity) the series all the way back to James McCloud's Star Fox, and let the player loose there. A game there gives players something "new", and opens the opportunity for story scenario options beyond the usual "We're ar war! Save us Star Fox!" fare. In a retcon situation like this, Star Fox can actually function as true mercenaries, rather than just a pawn of one planet's military as has been the case for most Star Fox games. Drasiana
I wrote up a big gigantic post and my internet derped and I lost it. SO POINT FORM TIME. -Yes, we need a reboot. -No, Adventures, Assault and Command will not vanish off your shelves because a reboot occurs. -Command isn't canon to begin with -Krystal and Panther can be written back in easily -Retconning Krystal's backstory elimates like 70% of the problem her character currently poses. -No one cares about Tricky or the Command newbs -Missed-yet-vital backstory (Krystal, Star Wolf, Bill, Katt, etc) must be explained through linear reveals. We cannot have a game focusing on explaining ALL of this, because then it becomes BACKTRACKING: THE GAME and a labyrinth of flashbacks and it totally grinds the current timeline to a halt. -Get rid of that gigantic unnecessary timeskip between 64 and Adventures. I seriously doubt the heroes of Lylat were sitting around eating pizza for eight years. -Show Star Fox in a light that isn't "the Cornerian Army's Bitch Brigade". The only reason I bought Fox working for them in 64 is because of his history with Andross, why they kept pandering to the Army's will in every following "oh no, X has invaded X, save the day because we suck too hard!" plot was just dumb. They're mercenaries, ffs. ...I think that was it?

The Shaper
They should reboot it to certain extent, but keep the better aspects of the new games All I can think of when it comes to better aspects of the games are the graphics, which a reboot could add, and maybe the game play, which a reboot should get rid of seeing as Adventures was an on foot game and Assault was far to short and there wasn't enough missions on foot or in the air. But when it comes to Star Fox there should always be more air missions.
myu
Definitely a reboot. If they did decide to reboot the game, and into a more linear fashion, I do think adding something about the events that led up to the war wouldn't be an entirely bad idea. Not an actual thing where you would play through it, just sort of an "introduction scene," however I'm not entirely sure how that would go over without feeling kind of stilted. Also, not only should the years between SF64 and Adventures be shortened but... Man, Adventures' "plot" needs to be tightened up. I won't go into detail about this because there have already been umpteen threads about it. But maybe find a way to introduce Krystal that doesn't involve her being a DiD and playing cheesy porn music when Fox meets her.
Pgpaw3
What they could do is make a game that explains what Star Fox did during the 8 years between Star Fox 64 and Adventures. I would have thought they would do something exciting after Star Fox 64.
myu
Well there is that comic, that kind of goes over stuff. But it's pretty much, "THEY DID NOTHING FOR A WHILE AND THEN THIS THING HAPPENED AND THEN STAR FOX ADVENTURES."

Xortberg
It seems nobody really has a problem with SF64, and most of the dissent starts after that game, so maybe SF64 3D is Nintendo's attempt to reboot from there? That's what I think should be done, myself. Keep Krystal, because as User points out constantly getting rid of her could potentially alienate her fanbase, but for God's sake make her a good character with a more solid and well explained backstory, and don't have so many plotholes. Psygonis
It has never been said that she had to disappear you'd see. But placing her "back" in the mix "properly" would require massive storyline development in the case the character "stays the same"! :o
myu
Not to turn this into a Krystal topic, but there isn't much to her to keep the same. I doubt fans would be very upset as long as they kept her the "sexy blue space vixen" that she is. But yeah, this is a pretty huge project, and I'm not sure if Nintendo has the drive to do it - but I hope they do D:
LoneWolf
Yeah, I'd reboot the series, starting from SF64. If you really do need Krystal, make her flat-chested so as to not be a sex object, and actually be a character! Amazing! Not to mention that you could also forget the overdramatic command endings, and just have a clean slate to make a good, on-rails space shooter out of, rather than trying to make a plot that's about as deep as the shallow end of the kiddie pool some sort of Emmy-Award winner. I want a space shooter, with a plot that's just enough to get a point across without damaging the game itself (Command). I also want a game that isn't Zelda (Adventures), or is shorter than Justin Beiber's- (Assault). I want replayability! I want- Well, I want a lot of things, but the point is that a reboot would benefit the series greatly. On another note, videogames are a new media in the last decade or so, and they need to stop treating them like film. I'm not looking for a storybook experience, nor am I looking for a movie experience. I'm looking for something that was made to be a game, and is built as such. Scourge
Keep the same basic plot, but make it newer, make the levels bigger and shinier, get rid of most of Sauria's land BS, and if we must be on land, let us use this wondery mystery machine we all know the team has known as the Landmaster.. see what i did there? Also: MORE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, we love the characters, let us know more about them nintendo, even if its just a text journal in Fox's room on Greatfox or whatever, ill gladly sit down and read the entire damn thing at the expense of a homework assignment.
