Post findings, your own creations, and generally discuss bricks.

I'll try to upload some of my own creations ASAP.

Inb4 Vydrach and Lego ponies.

Lego creations fascinate me. I lack the patience and artistic ability to make them myself, but I do love seeing them. Especially those fancy Lego machines. I once saw a video of a functioning printer made with Legos and a marker, I'll see if I can find it and post it here.

Yeah, I love that printer.

I'm personally into making vehicles in close to minifig scale. Unfortunatly, due to a lack of just the right bricks I usually need to complete my creations, most are made digitally in LEGO digital designer, and I'm including the build files for anyone who wants a closer look.

Here being one of the latest ones, a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. Openable doors and engine compartment, with a small engine in it.

And here one I created a year or so ago, my own Corvette. Openable doors, detachable T-tops, and miniature engine.

Others I've made, but yet to upload:

1967 Ford Mustang Fastback

1970 Dodge Charger

Chevrolet K5 Blazer

2010 Chevrolet Silverado

2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT-500

Hummer H1 (This one in real life bricks.)

Lamborghini Countach

Land Rover 110

M35 army truck

Porsche 911

Shelby Cobra

Willy Jeep.

As well as tons and tons of WIP's.

I myself am into the field of historical recreation LEGO. Sadly, I am poor and irish and can not actually afford to support this hobby, so it has laid stagnant for yeaaaaaaaars without any real progress. My central theme was the 18th century. I hope one day to recreate some of my original science fiction works as well, plus do some city recreation (I've been planning to do a 1:1 scale of Venice...).

Thought this was pretty badass.

How ironic I saw that yesterday :D

And now that I've posted in here I guess I'll post another LEGO creation.

The LEGO Star Wars visual dictionary states on the 'Community' (not official) page:

The Brickish Association is a UK-based community of Adult Fans of LEGO (AFOLs). Its members displayed their Mos Eisley diorama at the UK's National Space Centre and at Star Wars: Celebration Europe in 2007.

Apparently the stormtroopers are searching for missing droids, tan coloured bricks were collected over many years, 12 people built and contributed buildings, vehicles and figures, some aliens have custom heads sculpted from modelling clay, some of the landspeeders are motorized and the display uses about 200,000 bricks.

To be honest it's stunning. I could photo the dictionary and send it your way if you don't believe me but I just quoted the book there. Also, that sign says 'Fragile Do Not Touch'

I used to have a battle group of Lego warships. But that was... 7 years ago, I think. Regardless, I had a Lego Star Destroyer, a costom-lego Klingon Bird-of-Prey, a custom-lego Romulan Warbird, and a few warships of my own design. Unfortunately, I never took any pictures.

Know your pain. LEGO is hideously expensive. The best advice I can give would be too look into local LEGO builder clubs. Often, they have sizeable members discount at some stores, and one can save even more trough joining in on bulk buying.

If the wallet is as empty as they come however, one can always look too digital building. Doesn't givee anywhere near the same satisfaction, but it's free, and will also allow you to experiment ahead before you eventually start building something in real life, making sure you don't have to get anything but the parts you need.

  • 3 weeks later...

Poking in to throw out some interesting stuff again.

Cubestormer II, a very efficent Rubik's Cube solver made of Mindstorms Lego and a smartphone.

And just in time for the new movie about the Three Musketeers.

And lastly, a very interesting tutorial covering several interesting building techniques as someone build a medival village. A WIP.

O_o

Lego sure has evolved over the years, though I remember having ridiculous amounts of fun with those large, 500+ piece creator bins; they were great to make random things out of! :P

Lol I wonder why I haven't seen this thread before. I like legos a lot, and perhaps when I get that giant bin I have down, I'll make something and show you guys! =)
