Krystal: Love, like, indifference, hate

I hear a few members are starting to voice their opinions on a certain blue vixen.

This seems to be an epidemic across the Internet.

I haven't seen many topics where people are obsesed with or hate Slippy or Falco.

So now this rash of Krystal topics made me think.

I have come to the conclusion that everyone believes in one of four things about Krystal.

1) She's hot and if you could date her, you would.

2) You like her. She's cute and smart and adds some new blood to the Star Fox cast of characters and plot line. Like a good friend you hang around with.

3) She's ok. Just another person in the Star Fox universe. Like a random acquaitance. Nothing truly special.

4) You hate her. Either because you hate all furries or because her face and name are on every Star Fox forum, or because you just don't like her. Maybe it's the blue fur or the British accent.

Now this can be used for other Star Fox characters, or other game characters, or practically anything else from movies to music to clothes.

Either you love, like, are indifferent, or hate something.

Now the trick.

If said persom likes, loves, is indifferent, or hates something, say why.

And don't use the phrase that makes me cringe, "Because, that's why."

It's a lame answer, it does not explain anything, and it makes you look like you are unsure of your decisions.

Thus ends my rant.

I'm a number 2. She has a nice personality and is good looking too, but she isn't the reason I like Star Fox. Even thought I made the website about her and such, I suffer no delusions on the absoluteness of her non-existance.

Yes. That's to say, I think she's cute and smart, good-looking (though "hot" isn't the word I'd use), an excellent addition to the franchise, but she doesn't, and can't, exist. She's attractive, but simply can't replace a -real- woman.

A 2 for me, though I sometimes border 3. I do like her...deep down. I want to think she's sweet and brave. I could care less about the circumstance; I like that they brought in a female SF team member. I like that she brings out a new side of Fox and adds a little more emotion in the games. However, I sometimes have trouble liking her just because of the way people see her...I mean, at times it's really quite insane. Even this topic says to me she's a bit too popular.

But you know what? It's not her fault fans can take things to far...and there's porn of everything, and porn is almost by definition out of character, so you can't go by that either.

...And despite all this controversy I still think she's better than Fara, and Miyu and Fay don't (yet) count as real StarFox characters in my book.

So yes...I like her. I like to think I like her for the RIGHT reasons

I kind of want to say 1, but I dislike the wording of it. It sounds pretty shallow to me. I'm very much a fan of Krystal, but despite my fondness for her, I have no problem distinguishing fiction from reality. She makes a great addition to the team. The series needed a major female character, and her unusual background opens up a lot of interesting paths for future storylines.

Yeah, I like her, I like her less then I let on, but hey I still think she gives the story a bit more complication and who doesn't love psychic furry chicks?

Nintendo really did give her a +100 in her personality stat in Command though.

3, I tend to be a neutral person both in real life and on a message board. Going either one way or the other would cause needless arguments between either side. I hate getting caught up on one side or the other. I take no sides because to put it simpily it's my way of thinking. As a bit of a useless info my favorite color is gray which is attributed to neutrality.

I believe I'm more for number 2. Sure, I may believe Krystal's one "foxxy (no pun intended) mama", but I rather let Fox have her instead. It may be annoying to try and save her all the time since she's weaker in an Arwing than Slippy, but she's novice and I bet she has loads of potential, especially since she already have a specialised potential of her own...

I guess that's pretty much what I wanted to say...

I'm a 1 and a 2. If she were real I'd definitly like to be friends with her. She just seems like an interesting person. And I also say 1 because, let's face, she does have some sex appeal to the crowd. She was disigned that way. But I wouldn't be a pervert about it. If she'd, hypothetically, were to ever get in a close relationship with me I would back down. I am a furry so I'm a little one sided about it. But still I'm realistic to the idea that she's still not real. But never say never. i just think some people are a little too obsessed with her.

I like Krystal. She's my favorite female character. Most people like her just because sh'es pretty or because she poses as Fox's girlfreind, but I like her because I think she kicks ass. Plus alot of people tell me that I look and/or act liker her, because I'm stubborn, but really kind, and I just want to do the right thing. What I can't stand is the fact that she has a fanbase full of perverted teenage kids who have nothing better to do then draw yiff of her. If she was a real person, she'd probably hunt down those fanboys, and spear them with the pointy end of her staff. I know I would, and I know exactly how she would feel, as I have developed fanboys of my own before, and let me tell you, that situation didn't go over well with me or my boyfreind.

But another thing I can't stand are Anit-Krystal people, and we have alot of them on Arwing Landing. I thought 'character bashing' wasn't allowed, but it still happens there anyways, and it's driving me INSANE. I just wish they would accept the fact that she's in the series, and keep their mouths shut.

But she is a great character. If I were a member of Star Fox, I'd look up to her like the big sister I never had. I even sort of do look up to her in a way.

And actually, Krystal is a better pilot than Slippy. I counted the times you have to save her, and you still have to save Slippy more.

On the subject of piloting, her ship in SFC (not that stupid CDF thing. No wonder they always go screaming for help. >_>) is frigging awesome, and I love her theme, as it sounds like it's straight out of a Miyazaki film, and I love Hayao Miyazaki's movies, especially the music. And it's a shame we never got to see her fight with her staff.
