Xidphel
http://www.screwattack.com/news/anonymous-targets-sony-over-sopa Hactivist group Anonymous is targeting Sony again for their support of the Stop Online Piracy Act bill. They released another one of their robot-voiced YouTube messages, letting Sony know that they will be the main objective of their "Operation Blackout" campaign. They promise to "destroy their network" in retaliation. It's not just Sony they're after. Anonymous also promises to take action against celebrities who support SOPA, including Taylor Swift, Lady GaGa, Kim Kardashian and Justin Bieber. This would be the second time in a year that Anonymous has acted against Sony. Their previous DDOS attack took down the PlayStation Network for a few days (they claim they are not responsible for the attack that lasted for a month). I'm not sure how I feel about this. I do not and never will condone the kind of actions Anonymous takes, but it may give Sony a small idea of the SOPA bill could cause for online businesses. I do think that we have to take a stand against this bill, but cyber-terrorism? Call and write to your congressman and senator. That's how it should be done. You can watch the full declaration below. Congratulations, Anonymous! You're countering a censorship bill that will most likely be shot down with censorship, terrorism and dictatorship.
Icy
I just don't like that they mentioned attacking Taylor Swift in there…… **** them, though. They are stupid. This isn't going to solve ANYTHING. And millions of players are going to have to go without PSN AGAIN.
Scourge
SOPA needs to die. This may not be the best way to go about doing it, but its certainly better than letting our corrupt government know we dont want it, they certainly wont do anything about it, most of them cant even use a keyboard. Also: Anon gains bonus points for saying "we are leigon." Nuff said.

Scourge
First Nintendo, now Sony? I'm afraid of what the outcome of this is gonna be. Fingers crossed itll be SOPA being put down. If not, the internet as we know it may be comming to an end. The social and economical backlash from it taking effect will likely be more devistating that the bill itself and HOLY SHIT I MADE A SEMI INTELLIGENT SENTENCE! Guest Mr. N
It seems some companies now are facing many threats when they support SOPA (For example, Godaddy which is a popular domain hosting website). I wouldn't be surprised to see Sony respond to Anon's targeting again or perhaps, drop out of SOPA's support.
CrypticQuery
Here's hoping SOPA is not passed, but it seems that Anonymous is just fishing for reasons to attack the same people over and over again. I never did believe the "hacktivist" approach was a good one; it would further entice people who know nothing about how the internet operates to further censor it. DZComposer
Microsoft claims they don't support SOPA, but they do support PIPA, which is the only slightly less nasty version of the bill in the Senate. Microsoft also donates money to groups that DO support SOPA. So, Microsoft officially says they oppose SOPA, but they support it by-proxy. I don't like the idea of fighting censorship by censoring others. That seems hypocritical. I think Reddit's actions are more in-line with an anti-censorship philosophy, and more effective. GoDaddy helped write SOPA, and now they're trying like mad to distance themselves from it as Reddit has mobilized a "move your domains" effort. In more positive news, Nintendo appears to have dropped their SOPA suppport. Hooray! Ironically, the article mentions Sony has as well. Though I would say these back-offs are more likely these companies seeing the writing on wall as GoDaddy may very well be seriously hurt by boycotts.

Drasiana
SOPA defeats the point of the internet. I'm uncertain, but a part of me has no real qualm if Anonymous wants to give its supporters a "taste of their own medicine" so to speak. The fact that independant companies and musicians haven't given nearly any support to SOPA as opposed to the massive companies who are is pretty telling as to the intention of the bill. Then there are several independant bands and films that only get publicity through filesharing on the internet. Hell, the fact that Bieber supports this when THE ONLY REASON HE'S FAMOUS is because he was discovered on Youtube (which would be heavily impacted by SOPA) is baffling in its own right. Xidphel
http://www.screwattack.com/news/ea-sony-nintendo-drop-sopa-support-almost And they're don with SOPA. Not with ESA though which supports SOPA.
Star Fox Runner
Dear Lord........... not again. I hate SOPA too, but I Anonymous are a bunch of idiots and assholes. This won't prove anything, but instead fuel the campaign for SOPA.
Dublinthefox
Was Anonymous the ones who hacked the PSN which lasted a while, or was that another hacker?
Icy
Was Anonymous the ones who hacked the PSN which lasted a while, or was that another hacker? No one knows. Anonymous is suspected but it goes against their "mission" and they have denied involvement.
Vy'drach
The PSN was not down by the hackers, but Sony themselves due to the hackers, last I recall hearing (which was during the downtime). Anon went in, and another hacker, either a member of Anon or someone just using their opening, went in with them and looked at personal data. Sony took the PSN down for such a long time to redo security and have the systems gone over with a fine-toothed comb to help keep it from happening again. TCPeppyTc
Anonymous seems kind of sketchy. Some of their activism is laudable, but there have been abuses theyve committed. Im a little afriad to get involved with them. Should I be?
