3DS gets Japan Launch Date, Price

    By DZComposer, in Nintendo News,

    Teaser Paragraph:

The 3DS will go on sale in Japan on Feb. 23, 2011 for a price of ¥25000. At current exchange rates, that comes out to $297.44 US. Of course, this is pretty meaningless as NOA will set the US price, probably somewhere closer to $250.

No specific dates for US or Europe, though NCL said to expect them in March.

    No word on software launches.

A video shown at the press conference confirms that the Miis will be making an appearance on 3DS. It shows someone having their photo taken, and a Mii automatically generated to match the photo!

There will also be a "Virtual Console" providing old Game Boy games.

The video also shows a charging dock. Whether or not this replaces the power cord or is an optional accessory was not mentioned.

    Symphonic Legends

    By DZComposer, in Music,

    Teaser Paragraph:

The WDR Radio Orchestra in Cologne, Germany did a concert in last week called "Symphonic Legends," which featured music from Nintendo games performed by a this large orchestra and full choir. Luckily, the concert was recorded!

One of the pieces on the program, Space Suite, is based on music from Star Fox and Star Fox 64. It has a bit of a John Williams feel to it, which I like.

    Direct Link

The encore also has some SF music in it, part of it nicely tuck into some Super Mario Galaxy music.

    Direct Link

Other pieces on the program came from Super Mario Galaxy, the Zelda Series, Pikmin, Donkey Kong, F-Zero, Metroid, and more.

An album is being prepared. When the album is launched, we will provide a link to purchase (We will not be hosting music from albums currently in-print). A DVD may be possible, as other clips on YouTube suggest that this concert was professionally videotaped.

Info on the series of concerts can be found Here.

Special thanks to Mr. Krystal for the heads-up about this

    Site Redesign

    By DZComposer, in Site Updates,

    Teaser Paragraph:

First, I would like to take a moment to thank Mr. Krystal for the work he had done for SF-O. The Wordpress site layout, which has served us for quite some time, was his creation and is a very fine piece of Web Authoring Craftsmanship.

As great as that design was, there is something in the vision I have for SF-O that Wordpress system cannot accomplish very well: Integrated Community. This is, of course, no fault of Mr. Krystal. It is an inevitability of using different software packages to accomplish different things.

Today's internet is all about social interaction and community. SF-O, in my belief, is where it is because of our community, but the community is not connected to the site. Integration will allow for single-sign-on for all areas of the site, and will provide for SF-O members to better comment on articles as well as other parts of the site, and also to have more opportunities to contribute. It will also provide a consistent look for the site across all functions.

Content restoration will be a top priority, so if all goes well you won't be looking at a "WE JUST MOVED!!!" page with no content for very long (hours at most).

There will likely be some CSS hiccups as I merge the forums and site themes, but they should be minor and I will fix them ASAP.
