    E3 - Pre-Event Thoughs

    By DZComposer, in Nintendo News,

The Nintendo Digital Event starts in just over 2 hours from posting time. It is almost certain that we will be getting news on Star Fox, given that the game is still slated for this year.

I think it is important to remember that what we saw last year was part of a proof-of-concept build. I'm certain that what we will see today will be vastly different. I think we should all remember that. The mechanics presented in that demo are probably the only things to stay. I'm hopeful we'll get a name and some small story details, but we'll see. There really isn't much more I can say about Star Fox, given that we don't know anything. Once things have been revealed, I will be able to provide an opinion with more substance.

Another game to look forward to is Super Mario Maker. What seemed to be a dinky little level maker turns out to be a full-fleged Mario level creation experience capable of doing things that even the Super Mario World ROM hackers can only dream of. I'm really looking forward to this game now, especially after seeing the levels made for the Nintendo World Championships.

I'm not going to make any predictions about new game announcements at this point. Others have done that. But, an interesting tweet from Retro Studios implies that we may finally learn what they are working on.

I recommend SF-O members watch the stream (you can here: http://www.twitch.tv/nintendo ). I will make a post about the Star Fox game, but it probably won't happen until after the event.

    Club Nintendo to be Deprecated

    By DZComposer, in Nintendo News,

    Teaser Paragraph:

Nintendo has announced that worldwide, the Club Nintendo loyalty program, which allowed members to earn "coins" by buying Nintendo products and filling out surveys and use said coins to buy games and trinkets, will be deprecated this year.

Nintendo has said that a new loyalty program will be set up, but did not go into detail.

    SRC: http://club2.nintendo.com/program-notice/

EDIT: For clarification, this means Club Nintendo is ending. Coins/Stars will not transfer to the new system, so spend them. I can't speak for NCL or NOE, but NOA will be adding more items next month to encourage people to spend all of their coins.

    Teaser Paragraph:

So, Nintnedo just dropped the Zelda Bomb at The Game Awards on Friday.

In it, Miyamoto and Aonuma were showing off actual gameplay of the game (Which is looking to be amazing, BTW, the world is HUGE).

As they're playing, Miyamoto asks Aonuma if the game is REALLY coming out next year, given its complexity. Aonuma confirms this, and then goes on to ask Miyamoto about Star Fox.

Miyamoto confirms that Star Fox is progressing well, and will release BEFORE Zelda, which is obviously Nintendo's big Holiday 2015 title. He also goes on to say it will be coming AFTER Majora's Mask 3D.

As of yet, we don't really have a time frame for Majora's Mask, though given how long they've been teasing it, it is probably coming early 2015, summer at the latest.

This means that we will probably be seeing Star Fox in Summer 2015. Of course, that's speculation, but hey, we have a release window, if not a completely vague one.

    SSBU - Orbital Gate conversations

By DZComposer, in Star Fox News,

    Teaser Paragraph:

Looks like the conversations that have been in every SSB since Melee do return in the Wii U Smash Bros. This time, though, the dialog is more mission-focused. One set references the fighters, one does not.

Of interesting note, it appears that these conversations can be triggered without Fox or Falco on stage.

I definitely recognize Mike West as Fox in the Wii U footage, which I did not really recognize in the 3DS version. ROB 64 seems to have the same voice actor from SFAs. I think Slippy's actor is female.

    Interestingly, Krystal seems absent.

    Teaser Paragraph:

Miyamoto gave an interview to Edge magazine. A Neogaf leak reveals that in it he said that Star Fox, along with Project Guard, Giant Robot, and Splatoon, are part of Nintendo's new "Garage" team.

In Garage, "they gather together and think about new projects completely apart from their everyday business assignments."

Sounds a bit like how Valve operates.

NOA also tweeted an image showing dates for upcoming releases. Star Fox is still pegged for 2015. Interesting, Project Guard is listed as a separate title, throwing some water on the idea that the game was actually part of Star Fox.
