    Fanstuff: Star Fox: Invasion

    By DZComposer, in Fanstuff,

    Teaser Paragraph:

YouTube user Warialasky has posted a short film depicting a battle between Star Fox and Star Wolf over Earth.

It seems that Star Wolf's ranks have grown: I count at least 8 Wolfens shot down.

While I'm not a huge fan of humans/Earth in Star Fox, this is one of the better fan productions out there.

Peppy appears in Steel Diver Sub Wars

By DZComposer, in Star Fox News,

    Teaser Paragraph:

Today's Nintendo Direct unveiled a new Nintendo FPS called Steel Diver Sub Wars.

Look who showed up in the trailer:

Perhaps the Blue Marine will be a hidden unlock?

The game is available now in the eShop. I'll give it a playthrough to see if any more Star Fox references are in it.

SFOCast Theater - Star Fox Act III: Fly Again

    By DZComposer, in SFOCast,

    Teaser Paragraph:

SFOCast Theater is a radio drama project aimed at creating radio dramas based on the Star Fox Comics.

This radio drama is based on the serial comic by Ashura Benimaru Itoh that ran in Nintendo Power to promote Star Fox for the SNES. Note that this is not just a reading of the comic. Some dialog lines have been added or changed, and some minor changes were made to the story to fill a couple of plot holes.

    Fanstuff - 3 for 1

    By DZComposer, in Fanstuff,

    Teaser Paragraph:

Here's a 3-for-1 set of nice arrangements of Star Fox music.

The first is a medley of Star Fox and Star Fox 64 music done by the band On Being Human.

The strange guitar is an electronic guitar that functions as a MIDI controller as well as direct control of sound modules and on-the-fly electronic tuning changes. The guy says it is one of only two in existence.

The next piece is a mix of the SNES main theme and Venom with a hint of Space Armada.

It almost sounds like something from a Sonic game.

And lastly, YouTube user Epic Game Music rocks out to SNES Corneria around town.

    Teaser Paragraph:

Reggie has seemingly decided to use NOA's Twitter account as if it were his own personal one lately.

Yesterday, he tweeted "'What does the Fox say,' you ask?" with an art render of Fox from SF643D as an image macro captioned "Definitely not Ring-Ding-Ding-Ding-Dingerinding."

    Hiroshi Yamauchi Dead at 85

    By DZComposer, in Nintendo News,

    Teaser Paragraph:

It's a sad day in the world of Nintendo. Hiroshi Yamauchi, the man who brought Nintendo from being a humble playing card maker to one of the greatest names in video games, has died at the age of 85 from pneumonia in a Japanese hospital.

Hiroshi Yamauchi was the last of the Yamauchi family to run the company, the company leadership being in the family since the company's founding in September of 1889.

Most of Nintendo's big name franchises were created under his reign. Mario, Zelda, Star Fox, Metroid, Donkey Kong, F-Zero, the list goes on of great Nintendo properties created in the Yamauchi era, many of them by Shigeru Miyamoto.

Sayonara, Yamauchi-san. You made Nintendo what it is and us fans are forever grateful.

    Teaser Paragraph:

It's no secret in the fanbase that Hideki Kamiya of Platinum Games, which recently released The Wonderful 101 on Wii U, has had a desire to work with Star Fox.

Well, he did. Unfortunately, people didn't leave him alone about it. Frustrated with people asking about it, he told Polygon "I've been known for saying I want to work on Star Fox but the tendency for this to spread and people constantly pestering me with questions, like 'How would you do this? How would you do that?' ... Quite frankly, I've decided I don't want to work on Star Fox anymore."

This isn't all bad news, though. Firstly, there never seemed to actually be a Star Fox project at Platinum games, and secondly, even though he may have been turned-off of it, there are plenty of people who want to see Star Fox again, and that gives me hope that a new game will come some day.

    Logos

    By DZComposer, in Site Updates,

    Teaser Paragraph:

You've probably noticed a new logo on the top-left of the site.

I decided to do a more custom logo, but still keep it Star Fox. Simplicity is all the rage in logo design today, so I went with a minimalist logo and a sans-serif font. Though I am not jumping on the all-lowercase bandwagon. "SF-O" is kind of how we are referred to, so I use that. Plus, I like small caps anyway.

The single-color means it can be easily made to fit any situation.

Fanstuff: Star Fox John Williams style

    By DZComposer, in Fanstuff,

    Teaser Paragraph:

I'm a huge fan of the work of film composer John Williams. When I stumbled upon an arrangement of the SNES ending theme by YouTube User Graham Plowman claiming to be in his style, I was skeptical.

But, I gave it a listen anyway. And I am glad I did. While he didn't 100% nail Williams' style, he got pretty damn close in several places.

But that isn't all. It is very well orchestrated, and definitely belongs in the list of the top 5 Star Fox orchestrations. The only one I can think of off the top of my head that I liked more is the Symphonic Legends arrangement.

But enough talk, here's the music:
