I used to dream about joining some company like Pixar or Blizzard or what have you, but then several factors conspired to change my mind:1) The reliance on unpaid interns is just indentured servitude with a new face. You cannot break into the industry without doing a few of these or possibly being well connected. You need to starve for awhile/work yourself ragged/rely on parents in order to accomplish this feat. I have more dignity than that so I decided they could go 'eff themselves. Also, there are a million other students better than you who will out compete you to get these.2) I saw a star student in the Animation department at my university brought close to tears over what "appeared" to be rather bad treatment at his internship. It was a large well known company. This was a turn off.3) Lets face it - Pixar is NOT going to hire me.4) The economy fell to pieces when I graduated. So much for being able to find a job to do at the same time as my unpaid internship.5) I like being the master of my own destiny rather than destroying what parts of my soul are left to "possibly" get a job where if I don't like it I can just get another job - at another company whose policy is also "take it or leave it". Screw this, I'm going into business for myself.Such a downer, I know. But that's the truth.Wow everyone seems to want a degree in games or computers. I say after we've obtained our diplomas, we should all team up and make the best dang video game this world has ever seen. That would be just way too much fun IMO. Sounds good to me.
