Westboro Baptist Church to picket Comic-Con.

At Comic-Con, lots of people wear costumes. It seems that on at least one day, a whole group of people will dress up as a bunch of assholes. Yep, that’s right; apparently since they have nothing better to do, members of the Topeka, Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church, which is led by Fred Phelps, plan to picket Comic-Con in San Diego.

In case you’re lucky enough to not know who I’m talking about, these are the douchecanoes who protest at the funerals of servicemen and -women killed overseas. Classy, right?

Now why, you’re asking, are they protesting the nerd prom? You may have seen this quote around the Interwebz; it’s from the WBC site:

They have turned comic book characters into idols, and worship them they do! Well, apparently they are so incensed about this travesty that they’re going to protest for a whole 45 minutes on Thursday (1:15 p.m. to 2 p.m.), which though heavily populated, isn’t nearly as crowded as Friday or Saturday. And that’s if they even show up.

It would be worth the price of admission to see someone dressed up as Buddy Christ tell them all to go piss up a rope.

Okay....... I can understand being faithful to the Lord but COME ON! There are plenty of worse things that go on in the world that should be protested, but they choose to protest something like Comic Con instead! I'm just as likely to go to Comic Con as the next guy here, and I'm a very religious person, I don't view this as something that would distract me from my faith.

Actually I think a women from this church was on a local radio, and she denouced CHRISTMAS for lying to your children about Santa, and also protested the troops.

And just FTR, I'd like that guy with the picket sign to point out where it says in Romans that GOD HATES NERDS!

...Part of me actually thinks this is a prank, bc I've seen that exact same guy with a very similar/same sign that said GOD HATES GAYS. And if you'll notice, the lettering is the Same for "god" and "hates" but different for "nerds". The 'e' and the 's' are both different. So either that's been retouched, or they're trying to do their part and recycle. Does anyone have a link?

The word "nerds" is obviously photoshopped (or more like MS Painted...) as Fira correctly points out. While it wouldn't surprise me a bit that this group actually hated all the various groups of people, I think that in this case, there's some troll with poor skills in photomanipulation sitting somewhere and laughing his ass off.
