Oh wow, I was laughing up until the part where the female ate the male because he wasn't good enough. Then a hair landed on my shoulder and flipped out because I thought it was a spider.

This gentleman does not have the voice for a documentary on animals.

Also while very interesting to look at, these spiders remind me of this thing more than they do a peacock:

bird-of-paradise.jpg

Which I cannot for the life of me remember the name of.

Spiders the size of a pinhead with beautiful chromatic colours are not terrifying or horrifying, lawl. If you want horrifying, I could show you "Zilla," a large specimen of the largest tarantula species in the world. She's so big you can actually hear the skittering sound as she moves. Y'know, the sound that most games and what not give to big spiders, the "skitch-a skitch-a skitch-a" sounds.

I think that's a bird of paradise, although if I remember right, that's a blanket term.

Also, I have a sort of irrational fear of spiders, although its limited to ones that are in the room with me. I specifically remember almost putting a hole in the wall trying to get away from one in my bed. So yeah, that tarantula your talking about, it would probably give me nightmares for weeks.

It is. There are several "birds of paradise", that one is among them. I swear it had a name though....

All I can find it being called is a bird of paradise.

(2:00 for that bird)

You can get all the species here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bird-of-paradise

After watching both videos, I'm wiping tears from my eyes.

R3dFiVe, you need to top this if you hope to impress me.

Oh my goodness.

I love animals that dance, especially birds. I think many birds are courted for life. :D

This also applied to R3d's. Must of missed the quote button on his and the new layout is wonky about letting me edit a quote in, lawl.
