Hope(N Forever)
Following the ominous success of the Nintendo 3DS game The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, gaming magazine Game Informer had an interview with the game's director Hiromasa Shikata. The game is known to be heavily based on its direct SNES prequel, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, especially having a near-identical world map, yet it still felt like all-new game. Shikata was asked whether Nintendo would further take this approach of adding new spins to their old games like so, plugging in other SNES favourites such as Star Fox and Metroid as examples, Shikata's reply was: "It’s an honour that people consider the game to be a success. When we make a game we often start by thinking of the basic system and letting that in turn determine a suitable setting. If there’s something fitting for the basic Star Fox and Metroid formula then I think we’ll be able to develop something. On this title, if we hadn’t come up with the idea of going into the walls at the beginning and instead thought of something new which had the player curling up into a ball, we might have ended up with Metroid, not Zelda." > Source

Drasiana
Unfortunately I feel like this is more of the same offhanded non-news we've been getting regarding Star Fox that boils down to "if we think of a cool Star Fox game, we'll make one", while still framing it as a pretty big "if". I feel the same way! They just need to make a game and make it now!!
DZComposer
This is hypothetical. I wouldn't put much stock in it. Remember a few years ago when Miyamoto said he would like to make a Star Fox game for the Wii? Didn't happen.
WolfOD64
8O ..could this be the return of the SNES canon!? I don't think so. With the recent re-release of Star Fox 64 on 3DS, I think it's pretty clear that Nintendo's sticking to the current canon.
