So, somebody translated some of the Japanese Keibunsha strategy guide for Star Fox 64.

Nice find. Thanks for posting this. I an going to be revamping the site content soon and I am really looking for info on the Japanese version of the canon because I am aware that there are differences.

There are a couple of pages from the Mission File Printout that haven't been translated that I would like to see. I should post them to that subreddit sometime.

Also, the Star Fox 64 intro text. I know it is different than the English version because it specifically mentions Papetoon.

I may throw a page or two at the subreddit from time-to-time myself. There are several pages of the guides I want to see translated.

I want to learn everything I can about the Japanese canon for the site content project rebuild coming when IPB 4 drops.

Also, Solar is called a planet in that guide. Can we write off Solar being a star in the English official guide as a translation error?

I actually couldn't believe that they would call it a planet...but sure enough it is.  In the guide that DZ posted for Katina it does say "wakusai so-ra" in the bottom right.  "Planet Solar".  Kind of ruins the whole idea of a binary star system that some of us think exists in Lylat.

Maybe our idea of what a "star" is led to localization, as opposed to mistranslation.

In SF2 lylat has a binary solar system.. It could actually be another unnamed star. Solar not being a star doesn't contradict that.

Solar is a planet. The SF64 Nintendo Power guide is the only source that claims it to be a star. The SF64 US Website called it a planet (http://f.starfox-online.net/archives/starFox64.comReconstructed/solar.html), as did Star Fox Command in-game, and as did any other source that ever mentioned what Solar is.

Very cool, kudos to everyone involved.

Although I enjoyed an immature giggle at the quotes with "~" in them because I mostly see that in flirty or mischievous posts. xD
