Geo, I don't want to sound like a douche, but you have REALLY poor taste in retro cartoons. :/

Patch, Infinity2, Future Dude: A modicum of insight would go well with those posts. Otherwise, they practically beg "ask me why's"

Why, I might as well bare the burden,

God help us all.

you have REALLY poor taste in retro cartoons. :/

Everyone dies

Why?

Because Saturday Supercade was an all-around terrible cartoon. It makes Super Mario All-Stars look like Looney Toons by comparison.

Eh, they were good times to be sure, but I don't see anything stopping me from playing my N64 among a plethora of other activities from that time and generations past. It's one of the reasons I think our day and age is best because we still have what all those decades gave us and more.

Umm.... Yeah. The Saturday Super cade didn't have quality in graphics, but the stories were good.

Meh, a few years ago it was all about growing up in the 80s. In a few years, it will be all about growing up in the 2000s. A few years after that, the 2010s, then the 2020s, ad infinitum.

Thing is, a lot of it is just nostalgia. Viewed through an objective lens, honestly, Children's TV programming has sucked since the decline of the classic Warner and Disney cartoons in the 1960s. Those cartoons were entertaining for children, but also had some hidden adult humor in them, too. There were jokes about the world wars (including one where Bugs Bunny pretended to be Hitler), jokes about race, and other social jokes. Such things are not considered "kid-friendly" and acceptable in modern cartoons. In fact, there are 11 classic Warner shorts that are deemed too racially insensitive to ever be shown again.

Though I will say the absolute worst Children's program did occur during the 1990s: Barney and Friends. It wasn't educational. It wasn't entertaining. It was just people in Dinosaur costumes pointless walking around in a preschool-like building talking pointlessly to the kids there.

I, for one, don't miss the 1990s. Slow, dial-up internet, VHS Tapes, CDs, shitty cars (though the 80s were worse), no smart phones, music wasn't portable, video definately wasn't, 480i TV signals. Why would anyone want to go back to that?

I wouldn't go back to dialup, nope. VHS and CD's? I could live with that. No smartphones? I could deal. I used a flip-phone in highschool and it was just fine. The cars may have been "shitty" but they had some pretty cool designs back in the day. What I wouldn't give to be able to own an 80's era Pontiac Firebird or Camaro. I don't care how crappy it runs, I love the look of the car and the popup headlights.

Some of my favorite cartoons played during the early to late 1990's. I think that was the peak era before Cartoon Network started going downhill with nonsense and really (imo) poor quality. I can remember coming home from school every day and watching Swat Kats. I was dismayed when it went off the air. Now, I have it on DVD and can watch it whenever I want.

Hey, guys? I know it's not Nintendo-related, but what about cancelled TV shows like Birds and The Wuzzles?

I hate to be a buzzkill, but I really don't get behind the appeal of Surge. To me, it's like Coca-Cola was selling out to compete with Mountain Dew, which IMO is a shitty overrated soda that the past few generations of teenagers have been obsessed with..

Also Squared, I saw those colored ketchup bottles before, they look and probably taste like artificial feces. Who in their right mind would want to use colored ketchup with food? That's just disgusting. Regular red tomato ketchup please.

I loved the 90s back then your friends would knock on the door unexpectedly to hangout. Now everyone has to text.. God forbid someone surprises you at the door lol.. I was born in 91 so I remember a little bit of the 90s. I grew up with the NES, until it broke down. Dad got me an N64, and I loved almost every game on the system.

Collecting pokemon cards was pretty cool.

Oh.. and those colored ketchups were always gross. XP

Generally, when foods are discontinued, it's because they are disgusting. Lord knows how many carcinogens were in those "nostalgic" foods...

Lemme just reiterate my points I've made in this thread:

*Remember Google? Remember 9/11? Remember the Iraq War? Remember Hummers?Remember McMansions? Remember the Housing Market Crash? Remember Usher? Remember Jersey Shore?  IT WAS A GOOD SHOW!

*Not all '90s cars and fashions were ugly, but generally current 2010's cars and fashions are much nicer looking than those from 20 years ago.

*Saturday Supercade is an abomination

*Overall quality of life is much better than it was back then (more civil rights, more advanced and reliable technology, etc.).

*I think the whole nostalgia movement is ridiculous

*'90s foods were gross and unhealthy

And most of all:

*Don't be nostalgic for things you never lived through. You can enjoy them, but don't get caught up in it. Live for today. It'll be someone else's idealized era in 20-30 years or so.

I had the pleasure of looking at a Walmart Ad that featured the N64 selling for $129. They had Pokemon Red and Blue for $49.96. It was great!

They had a HP Computer with a 6GB HDD and an old 32k modem selling for $1095 or something like that. Amazing that now you can buy a PC for under $300.
