What happened to the trainer from SFX64, Anju de Pon?

I honestly don't know After 64 he just vanished

Edit: Well i was reading on the Wikia that he is the president of Space Dynamics The Producers of the Arwing so i am going to go on the hunch that he returned to his position to supervise his company and that he was only there in the training section of the game to bring fox and crew up to speed on the Specs of the Arwing II

Make what you will of this

I was unaware that he even had a name. He always creeped me out.

I PERSONALLY (non-oficial) believe that big N should do a MOTHER-like RPG with him and a few other "abandonware" characters. Around here, he is fan-called by the name Kit Ringtail, his name for the game. He does Ness' roll. He can have a fianceé/wife/whatchamacallit that play's Paula's roll. A worker from the FDF, possibly a non-tanooki, will be Jeff and a foreigner will play Poo.

The plot is similar to the one in MOTHER 3, and it all happens in an "abandonware" planet, Fortuna. Ditto.

The obscure references would be too many. Besides, turn based RPGs are on the decline.

You got a source on that name? I've never heard it before.

Edit: Well i was reading on the Wikia that he is the president of Space Dynamics

Uhm, yeah... I'm gonna call bullshit on that unless I see a source other than Wikia wikis that hold no canon standards.

Where in the hell does this info come from? The games and the comics are pretty damned spartan about giving details about the main characters, let alone the game's universe.

Yeah that's why i put it in bold as Wikia is not a 100% reliable source

They say it came from Slippy's description here but i can not read Japanese so i cant confirm or deny it

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n01/n64/software/nus_p_nfxj/member/index2.html

Edit I just read that it said he was reportedly the head of space dynamics on the wikia if that's the case then im going to hedge my bets on it being complete Bull for the time being

Edit 2 Spelling More coherent

Wow, I need to dig into this site a bit. (I feel ashamed, I have a backup of this site on my own damn server and I haven't translated any of it...)

That same paragraph, from what I gather from the all-your-base style Google translation, says that Peppy and his wife had their honeymoon on Zoness, this explaining his shock upon seeing the planet in SF64. Peppy's wife would not be revealed to the west until her mention in one of SFC's endings.

Apparently, Falco's gang was called "Free as a Bird" and Falco was actually the leader of the gang.

I'm not sure where "Anju" comes from, though. ヤル・デ・ポン氏 is the name in Japanese, YA RU - DE - PON SHI. Google translates that as either "Mr. Dial De Pont" or "Mr. Fuck De Pont" O_o

トレーニングモードに登場するタヌキを知ってる?実はアーウィンを開発した事で有名なスペースダイナミクス社のヤル・デ・ポン社長なんだ。 According to Google, this says something along the lines of "You know that Tanuki in training mode? He's from Space Dynamics, builders of the Arwing. His name is Yaru DePon and he is the president of the company.

Of interesting note is this: オイラの親父のベルツィーノ・トードもそこでエンジニアをしてるんで大きな声じゃ言えないけど、ヤル・デ・ポン氏、そうとう腹黒いタヌキらしいんだ。闇で武器の取引をしてる… Once again, this is based on a Google translation, but it seems to say "I shouldn't say this too loud, but according to my father, Beltino Toad, who is an engineer, Mr. DePon is a scheming Tanuki. He trades weapons in the darkness." If I'm reading this correctly, it seems to say that DePon is selling weapons on the black market. Holy shit. This could mean that Space Dynamics was playing on both sides of the war.

So is it Anju or Yaru? Anju almost seems like an Enguriish version of Andrew or maybe Anthony. Yaru sounds like a bastardization of Yuri, which in itself is the Slavic bastardization of George. Either way, he's probably the most interesting character now. It's always the quiet ones...

The de Pon name intrigues me. My dad's family is somehow related to the du Pont family, who amassed a fortune in the gunpowder business during the Revolutionary and maybe Civil Wars, and basically built up Delaware socially, politically, and economically. I'm not too sure on the deets, since I've only met that part like once or twice, but I know that the du Pont company involves itself more with peacetime stuff like homebuilding and teflon instead of weapons. Maybe it's a coincidence, maybe not. Who knows?

What the hell emot-psyduck.gif

The du Pont family thing sounds too much to be a coincidence. Also tossed the name at a friend who reads Japanese and she says it definitely says Yaru, so I'm curious to know where "Anju" came from.

Also, what the hell emot-psyduck.gif

Good God it's a pretty obscure reference. Like, I know the Japanese have a bizarre American fetish, but that's just...wow. I certainly wouldn't have picked up on it otherwise. I guess they thought a van Bilt or Asterian was just too obvious? Anju does have a somewhat French tinge to it, if you know absolutely nothing about the language (I guess a Pierre or Irenée would've been too obvious as well?). "De Pon" is actually Haitian for "two bridges", and Haitians do love their corruption :-P

I need to lie down now  :|

I don't know if this makes any sense since I don't know Japanese but is it possible that Yaru is a strange translation of Earl/Jarl? Dicking around with a translator it seems that they're phonetically similar enough.

Earl du Pont sounds a bit more solid than Yaru du Pont.

The entire story with this guy seems like another Gundam reference (up there with Gundam pig robot in the SNES comics and the "He's quick be careful" red mecha in Sector Y). In the Universal Century Gundam metaverse Anaheim Electronics is a massive corporation that owns and controls many subsidiaries including space craft and weapons development. The weapons of the Mobile Suit Gundam series are mobile suits, 60 ft tall pilotable robots powered by a fictional nuclear fusion generator. Anaheim Electronics has clearly shown in the various anime series, movies, and OVAs that they're willing to design and sell mobile suits to every warring faction, gaining them the title "merchants of death". They get away with this solely because of their large size, if it's found out that they sold mobile suits to enemy factions they simply cut off that division of Anaheim and replace them with another. Plus the government is in bed with them so that helps as well. Space Dynamics probably has a similar presence in the Starfox universe.

So is it Anju or Yaru?

ヤル・デ・ポン

ヤ = "Ya"

ル = "Ru"

ï½¥ is a separator

デ = "De"

ポ = "Po"

ン = "N"

Earl du Pont sounds a bit more solid than Yaru du Pont.

From what I can tell, though, Earl is "アール" or "Aaru."

Though, one possible translation of Jarl seems to be "ヤール" (Yaaru). The difference between ヤール and ヤル is that in ヤール the "A" sound is elongated (Yaaru vs yaru).

Anju is a Japanese girl's name meaning "honour" or "shine". BUT. Apparently if you use Chinese kanji it turns into "cheap, long life".

I found a list of kanji and their meaning from some googling around:

Anjyu
安寿 = Cheap, long life.
晏壽= Soft longevity
Anjyuu
闇住= Dark dwelling
庵充= Full retreat

I don't know if that's interesting but I thought I'd add it anyway.

Wait a minute, so this could mean that Andross's exile, driven to madness, and army was built up by de Pon himself in order to profit off of both sides?

Well there's a lot of things hinting this guy is considerably more than what meets the eye. It's not a dismissible claim yet that he might be of a similar position of The Administrator from Team Fortress 2.

Still, it's something that quite surprised me, this info. If it's that way then it's both somewhat elaborate AND kinda dark... pretty impressive for a minor SF character I'd say.

He's an instigator of the Lylat Wars.
