Cooler Side of SFZ

My current hype level for SFZ is about 6-7/10.  But here are the cooler side(s) of SFZ:

Above space battle looks epic.  Much much more epic than anything I've seen on the PC, and that includes FreeSpace and their mods.

Above Arwing looks like an elongated ninja star.  Possible best view of the new Arwing.

Damn, above shot makes me wanna buy an Arwing amiibo when they come out.  It's so pointy and aerodynamic when viewed from the side.  Very sexy...

Sort of cheating, but from 0:39 onwards in this video, SFZ really feels like Star Fox (ie. the soundtrack).  Creator of video has good taste in music!

Ppl keep forgetting (and that includes the ppl at Nintendo), StarFox was originally a Star Wars imitation/parody.  The above video gives you that fuzzy warm SW feeling all over again...  Brings tears to my eyes...

Actually, Star Fox was originally a NES tech demo for a functional version of Starglider, called NESGlider. The series also takes inspiration from Independence Day, but its biggest parallel to Star Wars is the Gorgon boss in SF64. Not everything with spaceships is Star Wars. The only thing that a current developer has ever really forgotten about the series is that Fox actually seems to only be around 5'2", because Cornerians are short.

Star Fox is actually a heckuva lot more Thunderbirds than Star Wars, so you can feel free to base any future vixen related speculations off of a campy puppet scifi drama.

Star Fox is an amalgam of tons of different sci fi series including Star Wars, Thunderbirds, Independence Day, Mobile Suit Gundam, and more. The series is a celebration of fun pulpy sci-fi and to single out any one of the series it references as what it really should be like is missing the point far worse than the games refusing to treat Fox as if he's Luke Skywalker's fursona.

Well, it originally was such a celebration. Then Miyamoto decided he needed a space epic, and he needed it now, damn it.

And all was right in the world.

Here's a good idea. Instead of comparing it to other series, why not just say it isn't a combination of a bunch of different series, but instead, it is Star Fox, and only Star Fox. Sure, it has taken inspiration from places, however most things have taken inspiration from one place or another.

I'm not saying the series doesn't have it's own identity, but it is full of intentional, direct references to other media that we're supposed to get and have a chuckle over. That's part of the charm that makes up its identity to begin with.

Pretty much. I mean, it references everything from Star Wars to Shakespeare, all while being its own thing, and a fantastic series.
