So, how fast is YOUR internet?  Post and discuss it here!

By the way, changing your vote is enabled in this poll, as changes in circumstances over time are likely.

I usually range in the 1-3 Mbps range on the college network, but it can slip down into the level below when a lot of people are on at once.

With three people sharing bandwidth, it's less individually, plus I haven't opened myself up all the way in a long time. It's Roadrunner, though, that should give you some indication. I voted in the 256+ range, because I know I can get up to 300Kps from good websites.

Yeah, those shared networks can really kill your speed sometimes.  As for dial-up (< 56 Kbps), we've still got it at our house, even though we're in the service area of 6 Mbps broadband, and I'm trying to convince my dad to get it...

I got about 512kb/ps.

But heh...  my older brother got 24mb/ps and my younger brother got as much as 100mb/ps!!! (seriously)

HOLY.  COW.  Now I'm so envious of your brothers.

I mean, you could download files at a speed of 12.31 Mbps with a 100 meg connection!  Or basically, ANYTHING in less than a few minutes.

Yes, of course, the admin comes in and blows us all out of the water.  >_>

However, there MIGHT be a possibility of getting 6 MB service at home sometime in the future...I hope...

Well, heck... the city I live in, it's hard to find a place that doesn't have access to high-speed internet... you'd probably have to go WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY outta your way to find a place like that near here.  >.>

Here, basically, if you can get cable, you can get broadband.

Yeah, that's one reason why it sucks to live out in the country.

Well for now, it appears the consensus is around the 512 Kbps range...

EDIT:  Well, we went by the broadband place, and we're getting 6 MB broadband hooked up to our house tomorrow!  ^_^  *happy dances*

  • 2 weeks later...

I got 6 MBps broadband...

<.<  >.>

You mean 6 MegaBYTE per second?

48mb/ps then I guess.

Ludvig, remember, there is a big difference between your broadband speed and transfer rate.

he goes at like...750kbps if we talk about transfer rate

I have 450kbps as broadband speed, which is like 52kbps on transfer rate...XG has like 15 times my speed, which is 6mbps going at 750kbps as trasnfer rate me thinks

Our house now has 6 meg!  :)  I'm leaving my vote at the 1-3 meg category, though, since I'm at campus most of the time anyway.
