Chapter1 Jealousy

With the Anglars defeated, Fox now finds himself back in peaceful time. But these times are worst for the mercenary, for these are the times he feels so...alone. Krystal would still be with him if it weren't for that fact that he kicked her out of Starfox.

"Please Krystal, don't take it like this, I care for you very much, I just don't want anything to happen to you. It's for your safety!" Fox pleaded to Krystal.

"But... Fox... why? I wish to... stay... I don't care about the dangers, this is my new life, and I am not going to just throw it out because of my own safety. I accepted that and i don't want to leave." She said sadly."

I just can't live with my self if anything happened to you... I would be a shell of a man, I just can't lose someone that I care for as much as you"

"But... fox"

"Please Krystal... leave, a transport is in the hangar waiting for you... Good...bye"

"if that is how you feel then... Good bye Fox McCloud..." She said with a sob. Krystal stomped out of the room and started to run to the hangar as if the ship was going to implode on her. As her life just did when he kicked her off the team. She had to leave her new life, and fox. To start over once again. Without fox.

The door closed, and Fox instantaneously threw his head into his hands and proceeded to let it all out. His regretful action of kicking his crush of the team was a little much to bear. He knew he wold miss her a great deal, but he didn't really think about how much he would regret it. the room was filled with sound of Fox crying into his palms. He was angry at himself, and bewildered at the same time. That he would even think of doing this to Krystal. But it was for her own good, to keep her alive.

3 days before the Anglars invasion of the Lylat system

The Nest, Bar and Grill 11:32pm

Fox had just polished off his third beer, when Falco looked at him with a concerned face. Fox didn't know why, unless it was because of him brooding all day, just walking around the great fox like a zombie, staring at the windows as if the windows had a hypnotic power over him. Fox turned his head towards Falco and gave him a quick smile to assure him that he was okay. But that didn't convince Falco.

Falco continued his stare but changed he look of concern to a light smile as he saw fox's. This broke the metaphorical ice and Falco took his chance and asked.

"'ey bud, you okay? You been chugging those beers like water, I don't ant to see you get drunk so fast. Lets take our time OK"

Fox just looked at him and thought, -I use bad words- you Falco, I'll drink however the hell I want!' But instead responded with a assuring "Yeah, you're right. I guess I am just little overdue for some fun. We haven't been out to a bar in months. I am surprised no one yet asked for an autograph. Heheh, It's nice not being harassed by every citizen in the city everywhere you go." Fox then returned to his glass which was now empty and decided to just watch the news as it poured from the display above the bar.

Fox continued to watch the news about a house fire somewhere in the city. Then he heard the door open, some chuckling. Fox just ignored the couple, knowing that it was no one he knew... Until he heard the laugh. One was deep, and sounded like a voice you'd hear from man trying to seduce a woman into bed, only more natural, as if wasn't being the forced. The other one, was all too familiar. He heard the familiar laugh and cringed. He dared not to look at the source or the laugh or be reminded of the mistake he is so trying to forget with that magical liquid.

He did look though, not to the source of the laughter, but rather to Falco. Who looked right back at him. Falco looked at the couple, he knew who they were and cringed at the sight. Yes, it was Krystal alright, but the figure who made him cringe was not Krystal but the black feline with her. Panther. Falco looked back at fox and shook his head. Fox continued his stare at the empty glass. Fox moved his stare from the glass to the bartender and pointed at his glass. The bartender returned to Fox with another bottle of beer and poured it into his empty glass. With that Fox pulled the glass to the tip of his muzzle, and dumped the beer into his throat as if he was trying to douse a fire, he chugged the entire beer in about 7.6 seconds. He then dared to look around the bar. Falco saw him moving and prepared for the worst.

Fox scanned the bar and saw something so horrible in that back corner, something that would haunt his mind for ages. Something that would give him nightmares. He saw the two figures leaning into each other from the opposite sides of the table. Krystal noticed him looking, and she leaned in further and finally closed the kiss between them. The kiss was a passionate one, and from what Fox could see, he thought some tongue action was also involved.

Fox instantly felt sick, as if he was poisoned. It hit him like a concrete wall, he knew what was coming. Fox got up from his chair trying his hardest to keep his composure, tossed a 50 credit bill onto the bar table. He walked briskly out of the bar bursting out onto a semi busy sidewalk, where he found the closest tree and leaned up against it. He put his right arm over eyes and looked down on the ground, using his right arm as a cushion as he leaned his head onto the tree. Tears started to make their way down the red fur underneath his eyes. He let out a soft whimper, loud enough so that only the people near him could hear it. Fox didn't care. He knew that this was going to happen, and that this would be all over the news sometime. Why not now?

Falco finally caught up and put his hand on his shoulder. Fox just continued to sob into the tree. He just couldn't hold it back. It was too much. Especially with Panther, of all people. Tears were flowing from his eyes like a river flowing free after a dam was blown. Falco tried his best comfort him.

“Comon man, sheis just trying to make you jealous... comon, don't be like that...”

He tried his best, but nothing helped. He then just walked him back to a cab that he called on his way out. There was a line of people watching the entire scene.

The invincible Fox McCloud, crying in public, would be tomorrows headline on all the celebrity magazines. But Falco knew what the people were thinking, and he said to the crowd before he entered the cab, as if scolding them for staring;

"He may be the best mercenary in the entire system, but he still has feelings. Now go away people, this doesn't concern any of you" He said with growing volume. He entered the cab after Fox and the cab took off.

For the first time that night, Falco finally saw that coveted smile he was trying to get out of him all night.

2 days after the Anglar Invasion was declared over(didn't play command? Too bad, neither did I)

Aboard the Great Fox, Captains quarters

en route to Corneria 9:00pm

Fox reviewed the events of the invasion but none so much stuck in his mind as much as his meetings with Krystal. He still loved her with all his heart. He didn't know how if he could repair the damage done.

"For her safety... Great job -Admin: I'm surprised you know that word-, what an excuse. Did you ever think about her emotional safety as well as your own? Asshole! Now she is with that -I use bad words-ing -Admin: I'm surprised you know that word- Panther!" He grumbled to himself.

But all in all, the invasion was good for him. He got some time in his arwing and served as a good distraction from his own thoughts. But now it was once again peace time. Fox would spend the time alone without her. He looked out his window and saw the planet of Corneria nearing slowly. He walked back to his bed and sat down. He looked at the glowing intercom next to the door. He got back up and walked up to it, pressed the button next to an icon the said "ROB". It glowed green, meaning that communication was open."Rob, remain in orbit around Corneria until 0800 hours tomorrow morning"

A voice then emanated from the panel;"Affirmative." rob responded with a stoic tone of a robot.

With that Fox walked back to his bed and threw his clothes off and climbed into bed wearing only his boxers. He put his head up onto pillow when he grabbed for the remote on his nightstand and turned on the monitor 3 feet in front of his bed. He tuned the signal to CNN, Corneria News Network. He was greeted with the image of Starwolf. Well most of it anyways. They were standing next to the general receiving medals for their work against the Anglars. But something was wrong, he only saw 3 figures receiving medals. Krystal was missing from the bunch. He was about to turn off the monitor and wonder what happened to her when Panthers voice broke the silence.

"I only wish that our forth member, Krystal was here to receive this honor with us..."

The crowd started to boo when they heard her name. She wasn't exactly the most popular person anymore thanks to her decision not to return to Starfox. She was viewed as a traitor to Fox. Especially with the reports of Fox leaving The Nest, sobbing.

Panther continued "...Yes I see, well if you wanted to drive her from the system, you succeeded. She left 3 days ago to begin a new life. I don't know where she went but someday I hope I will see her once again."

Panther concluded his little speech and stepped down and walked away, followed by the rest of the team.

Fox turned of the monitor, disgusted with Panther's voice. His award ceremony was tomorrow at noon. Him and his team would also receive awards and his payment, yet again. He looked up at the ceiling of his quarters, as he drove himself into his dreams. He couldn't help but think of Krystal and her new life in some other system. He wanted to see her again, but would she forgive him? Would she try to get revenge? Only one way to find out, he would have to go on a personal mission. He would go for her once he found some time to get away from Corneria. He knew that should he decide to find her, he would need to accept another job, but do it solo as raise enough money for himself, that he didn't have to split with his crew.

Fox hoped that after he received his reward that a job will be waiting for him. With that, he fell into his dreams, and fell asleep... Thinking about her...

'Without you...I am so alone... I count the hours without you... but time almost stands still, every minute without you, is an eternity...'

  • 3 weeks later...

Ya know, I have been writing this for some time now, bout a month. Still, when I think about the later chapters, I honestly gt a little choked up. But as what most people do, they listen to music to get their muse as do I. I have most of the story figured out, the only problem is the ending. I don't know what it will be. I'll figure it out when the time comes i guess....
