Infinity
Hey Dwight and DZ, I was doing a bit more thinking about what could get people to want to join this forum. Perhaps there might be a boost if there was a link from news on the main site to threads that discuss them. We might be able to get some people interested, if not just for those threads to join. Who knows? People might want to stay here for a bit. Just having a forums link might not stand out on the main site. Well, its just a thought to pitch anyway. But where to put them? And who would do it? Infinity, would you like to volunteer?

Mr. Krystal
Uh, putting what, where? The topics, one corresponding to each post on the main page.
DZComposer
There were originally plans to do that, but lack of an automated process for it made us decide against it. I don't have the skill with PHP to mod Wordpress to do it.
Infinity
Oh, I'm not asking to embed the topics onto the front page. I'm asking for a link to topics that pertain to the news on the front page. For example the Krystal in Brawl news could have a link leading to the forum topic. Such things require that the topics aready exist, and often, the news report comes first. However, I can put a link to specific topics as you have said, but it would be really nice if someone would make a list of topics that should be linked to given various types of news. There is a forum account called ROB64 that was going to be the one making the threads. There were also plans for a special board to put these topics in. Using this would require modifying Wordpress to write to SMF's database when a new news item is created. It would write the threads using ROB's User ID. That's easier said than done because to implement it, I would have to study both the SMF posting code and the Wordpress Posting Code and find some way to add the former into the latter without leaving a hole for trolls impersonate people's accounts. That's more work than it is worth for what is essentially a redundant feature (You can post comments in WP about articles), as is manual thread creation. We'd have to write the code ourselves. The only solution is to manually add select links in news posts to already existing topics.
