The Call of the Forsaken

Back story: You are one of a team of mercenaries hired to investigate the disappearance of a town,

a former vacation resort on Zoness, nicknamed 'The Closest Place to Heaven', really known as Montero

City. It just simply vanished, according to General Pepper, and he had already sent some of his men to

investigate this. However, whenever Pepper tried to make contact with them, all he got was static.

Something is obviously wrong, and you were all sent on your way, going your separate paths to rendezvous

in the town square, or at least where it used to be. However, upon landing, you, and the other mercs can

easily notice something wrong. A deep, thick fog pervades the area, and you're in the town, in it's own sense,

however, there is no signs of life around... And when you attempt to make contact with General Pepper,

all you receive is static... The ships seemed to malfunction, the roads out of town seemed to become cliffs

and it seems there's more in this fog than just any vehicles, buildings, or even the soldiers sent before you... this fog has an almost... demonic feeling... Something is obviously wrong... Sirens sound through the air... As monstrosities begin to form... What was once a normal mission has become a desperate attempt to escape this nightmare...

RULES OF THE RP:

This is based in a Silent Hill-esque setting... The town itself, Montero, is in a state of chaos, caught in a flux between a world of nightmares, dubbed the 'OtherWorld', and our reality. The town will occasionally flux into this 'OtherWorld', signified by the sounds of sirens wailing, sending an echo through the town. This 'OtherWorld' only barely is similar to the town, but is known by symbolizing darkness, decay, death, and isolation. There, of course, are demonic entities, but their form is not definate... Their form varies, depending on one's fears, regrets, and inner darkness. The only creatures that appear the same are the entity Valtiel (look at my av, and you'll get an idea), and the 'Nurses' that occasionally roam the streets. You can either be one of the stranded militia, or one of the now-stranded mercs, or even a citizen of the town.

Valtiel- Appears in: Every sort of locale. He is usually seen before the shift to the 'Other World', or in the off-chance someone dies in the 'Other World', he appears and drags the dead off to resurrect them at a certain point. He is usually seen turning a valve whilst spasming horribly. NOTE: If dead, you will respawn at an isolated point.

Nurses- Appear in: The Hospital, any medical related area, occasionally roam the streets. They travel in 'packs' of at least 3, and at most 20. They appear as normal nurses you could find in any hospital, except the way they move is 'wrong'. It appears their upper half is barely attatched (in the figurative sense, as in, it just looks like their upper body is hanging and flops around occasionally. They aren't cut in half literally) and they are covered in what seems to be blood. They are generally very well armed, utilizing firearms and knives with terrifying expertise. They have no inhibitions, seem to not realize if they are injured, and strike with strength that overpowers even the strongest soldier. Obviously, they're most prevalent in a hospital.

Other creatures: Feel free to create your own monster and how it behaves! How it attacks, and how it appears to you! Let your imagination fly at this.

The goal of the RP is to try to actually find out what's going on, and then find a way to escape.

CHARACTER RULES:

Okay, now we have gotten the basics out of the way, here's how we create our characters!

STEP ONE:

Make character's appearance, name, etc minor details, or give a bio if you want.

Example: Name: Bob

            Height: 4' 8"

            Weight: 122 lbs.

            Species: Fox

            Give appearance details here...

            Give bio (optional) here.

STEP TWO:

Assign status points. This is pretty simple, it's to make things interesting by giving us an exact idea on how good your character is in certain areas. They are separated into Primary and Secondary attributes.

PRIMARY ATTRIBUTES: You must put at least 1 point into all of these.

STRENGTH: Your character's ability to move heavy things, how devastating their melee attacks are, etc. A single point spent equals 30 lbs. of lifting power.

AGILITY: How fast your guy can run. Important if you need to escape hordes of monsters, and also can help in scouting. 6 points is average running speed. 14 points is Olympic level.

STAMINA: How good your pain tolerance is, how long you can run, fight, go without sleep, etc. Average is 6 points, which equals 3 or so minutes of strenuous activity before getting tired. So every point is 30 seconds of strenuous activity. Pain tolerance, well, to be an Ironman, you need 14 points in this.

INTELLECT: How smart, witty, and obviously intelligent your character is. Please try to use words APPROPRIATE for your intellect. 6 is average intelligence, 14 is genius level.

You get 35 primary attribute points.

EXAMPLE ON HOW TO SPEND THEM:

Bob is a strong, and durable fellow, but sadly none too fast or bright. Thus, here are his stats:

STR- 14

AGI- 4

STA- 13

INT- 4

So, according to this spread of stats, Bob can lift up to 420 lbs. (Wow!), and can take a lot of pain, as well as perform strenuous things for up to 6 1/2 minutes before feeling fatigue at all. However, poor guy is easier to overcome and he's easy to outwit.

SECONDARY ATTRIBUTES: All of these abilities are optional, but show your char's abilities in greater detail. (average score in these is 8, expert score is 18)

MELEE- Simple. How good you are with a close-distance weapon, as well as how good you can maintain it. Not needed, but it still affects how good you are with 'em.

FIREARMS- How good you are with guns, blasters, and the like you might find scattered across the town. Be ammo efficient, though~

COMPUTERS- Well, show us your l33t h4xx0r skills! Affects your ability at gathering info via a computer.

FIRST AID- How good are you at aiding others? Can you reset someone's broken leg? Will you be able to stop the bleeding of wounds? And do you know how to use a medical kit?

LOGIC- How good are you at thinking things through? Can you make careful plans? Well, if so, this is for you.

DEXTERITY- Not a primary attribute because I say so. How quick are your reflexes? How deft are you? Could you pull off a pickpocket with skill? Could you react in time to a trap?

WILLPOWER- This is very trying on one's sanity, no? This shows how good you are at coping with a high-stress environment.

You have 66 secondary attribute points. Enough to invest in them all, but to truly be an expert, you must make sacrifices~ See example up above, but increase the number of points and such.

STEP THREE:

What is your character equipped with? What is their role? Personality? State of mind at the beginning? A more fragile, or darker mind could override the minds of others, and this would reflect in the 'Other World'... and in turn, make this RP a real thrill, albeit even more deadly for those in it...

OTHER RULES:

Make sure that you are equipped with LOGICAL things. And remember, ammo and supplies are LIMITED, so try to search for them as you search for a way out of this town. Also, it's okay if you die in this, because you will get revived by Valtiel, albeit in a location far from your allies. But dem's da breaks. Also, try to make your abilities compliment others. If you work like a team, you shall be able to pull through this successfully!

PRIMARY ATTRIBUTES:

STR- 5

AGI- 8

STA- 10

Haha, alright! This sounds VERY fun. And I've played some of the Silent Hill games, so I have an idea what it's gonna be like.

Name: Gene Inari

Age: 28

Height: 5' 7"

Weight: 140 lbs.

Species: RedFox

Fur color: Crimson Red

Eye color: Green (right) Amber (left)

Build: Lithe

Clothing: Black cargo pants with a plain short-sleeve shirt under a bullet-resistant vest.

Persona: His mind works pretty quickly and uses logic and reasoning for situations, although some quirks and odd-interests may show if you stick around.

Mentality: Logical

Occupation: Mercenary

Other: Is Hemophobic

Primary Attributes:

Strength: 4

Agility: 14

Stamina: 5

Intelligence: 12

Secondary Attributes:

Melee: 12

Firearms: 12

Computer: 5

Logic: 12

First Aid: 1

Willpower: 6

Dexterity: 18

Attribute Summary: Gene is basically a sprinter and gymnast in one package, able to just outrun anything that he comes across, but his speed comes at a price of endurance, tiring out after about 2 to 3 minutes, forcing himself any longer and he might collapse from exhaustion. He's also a near-genius, his mind works much faster than an average person, which may or may not help him keep a calm head, if anything, he'll overload and panic, but when he's think smoothly, he's a godsend. One thing he will panic about no matter what is blood. But beside a fear of blood that he himself can't understand, he can do just about anything with his hands--picking locks and the like with the utmost ease and his senses are acutely sharp to the point Gene might hear or see things others would miss and as such can react to traps much more properly and live where others might of easily died.

Inventory: (I'm assuming bullets are still around for us "old fashioned" types in Lylat :()

M4 Carbine; 3 30-round clips (1 in gun and 2 on hand)

M9 Service Pistol; 2 12-round clips (1 in gun and 1 on hand)

Combat knife

Lock-pick

A note-pad and pencil

(Now I wait for others. xD)

Edit: Here's a little something to help picture the "Otherworld" Silent... Best if you right-click and download it so you can play it on your music player--I suggest you turn up the bass to where the bass hits become scratchy for a real creepy effect.

Cool, someone doesn't think I'm being overly complicated! XD I'll just make an introductory post for my guy, and hope more people join.

The musty air greeted his sensitive nose as he crawled along the ground. Alfons gazed slowly up... How long has he been here? In fact, when did this place even become apparent? A horrible cariacature of his beautiful church filled his eyes... blood, rust... the scenery was filled with a terrible metallic theme, meat-hooks dangled from the ceiling, something attached to them, but that was all. He scanned the walls slowly, his ears twitching as he heard slow footsteps. He slowly pushed himself up, the area changing slightly... Darkness began gathering as he hefted the crowbar he managed to grab some time ago. Holding the book close, he left to investigate the footsteps, perhaps they were of a friend... Maybe even a foe...? He had to find out...

Gene walked alone along the single highway that went into the town, the only sounds were the rattles of his gun straped to his back. As calm as it might have seemed, all his senses were on edge, there was something pervasive about the fog. A thick, grey cloud that shrouded anything beyond even 5 yards. It also doesn't help his ship's G-Diffusers unexplicably failed and was forced to land while the others went ahead.

But to pass the time as he walked, he let his throughts flow down onto a small notepad he had with him. However when he tried to remember the date, he couldn't. His ship had an internal clock, but that was fried with everything electronic it seemed, but he did have a wristwatch handy. Day 1, 1:47 PM. Now my mission starts, albeit unexpectedly. Mulitple failures have forced me to landand walk along an empty highway. The fog is thick and visibility is poor, the side of the highway is nothing but a cliff and I cannot tell how far down the fall is. The stillness in the air is unnerving, even the sounds of nature are absent.

Gene kept writing until he was entering the edge of the town and at the edge of his fog enshrouded vision he saw a church. Best place to start looking for the lost soldiers. He ambled quickly to the front door of the church, only to find it locked. He didn't wish to pick it just yet, so he went around to look for a back enterance.

Alfons gazed around, darkness growing even more prevalent as his own dark feelings began to surface as he approached something.

A figure approached, shuddering as it contorted, Alfons backing up as a small humanoid continued slowly walking towards him. "What in the name of...?" It lashed out, giving Alfons only a short time to quickly step back. He swung the crowbar, beaming it over the head, but it kept moving, shuddering... It was near impossible to distinguish it's features, it was so dark... He swung wildly, hitting it repeatedly... It seemed to take hours, though it was only moments before it collapsed. Alfons didn't stop long enough to examine it. He just ran off, trying to find a way out... He found a pit in front of the main entrance. He'd have to find a way out back.

Gene walked around the church, his left hand near his pistol. The persistent fog kept on him edge as he came to the back door, which was an unusually ornate steel door. A small symbol was embossed around the door and rivets dotted the space between them. His ears twitched as he faintly heard a sound beyond the door and sounded like a thud, but even he couldn't tell. It must of been near the front; someone's inside.

Current Items:  Backpack with books

Bio:  Lexeon had been riding on the bus back from school when reality and nightmare begin to merge  Montero City.  The sky darkened, the surface became shrouded in fog, and all life had faded, except for him, somehow.  He looked on in terror as the bus coasted to a stop in the road, and he nervously got up with his books and left the bus.  Lost, he stumbled through the fog, trying to find his way home in tears.  As the OtherWorld's presence intensified, his body was affected by the negative energy of the alternate dimension, and he suddenly morphed into a pitch-black non-humanoid monster of seemingly random composition.  The monster screamed and proceeded to destroy anything in sight.  Everything in its path became ravaged and unrecognizable.  After several minutes, he transformed back to his original form with torn clothes and a terrified mind.  He grabbed his books and continued toward the town, exponentially more distraught over his newly-acquired conditions.

Present:  After several hours, Lexeon has finally entered the town, his clothes tattered and his body bloody after several random transformations.  He begins to walk by the church with his books.

Alfons slowly strided towards the back of the church, still on edge from his encounter. "...Agh... What in the name of...? What was that thing? Argh, who cares?! I need to get out of here!" He began to jog, the gloom keeping him from seeing even three feet in front of him... Upon approaching the door, he pulled out his key, and turned it, unlocking the back door, and he opened it slowly. He could tell something was there, and he kicked the door open, readying the crowbar.

(I've been short of time for this, but now I'm making time, so this might be short)

Gene was braced against the wall and grabbed the arm that swung the crowbar from the left and in an instant twisted the person's arm behind their back and forced him to their knees with a relatively light kick to the back of his leg. The air clanged as the crowbar hit the concrete. However Gene didn't keep this person down for long after seeing the crowbar being knocked away/

Alfons crawled away, then pushed himself to his feet, looking furious. "...What was that for?!" He looked the new figure up and down, stepping away, clutching his book tightly. It was nigh impossible to tell what the book exactly looked like, though it was a strange-looking red. Almost fleshy red. He growled, taking a defensive stance (not martial arts, but one someone takes when they feel threatened). "Hmph... I've not seen you here before... Just who are you...?"

(Sorry about making this RP seem dead. D: )

Gene straightened out his vest and looked right at Alphons, his gaze was strong and focused."My name is Gene inari and I'm n a search and rescue operation in this area." His tone was flat and level--all-business. "I'd figure it would be best to start here and ask some questions and possibly some assistance from the locals for getting around." Gene's gaze when down to the book Alphons was clutching so desperately to, Gene wondered why he was so protective of the book and on a closer look, Alphons seem a bit dishelved. His hair was in a slight mess and his eyes were darting around, erratic and to with it he could see the minute trembles in his body, his tail hidden away and close. Something scared this man to the core. Gene wanted to know what, but that would have to wait.

"Have there been any unusual going ons? How long has this thick fog been persisting? Has anyone disappeared recently? Have you seen any Cornerian soldiers pass by here?" Gene rattled off the questions, he bared had time to answer.

(Had to make a nice long return post)

Fur colour: Black, white underbelly

Eye colour: Red

Build: Slightly bony

Clothing: Black very baggy cargo pants, tight black long-sleeved shirt, silver ankh necklace, black semi-form-fitting trenchcoat

Mentality: Laid-back

WILLPOWER: 6

Equipped with:  Dual-bladed knife dubbed "FoxFangs", fangs

Bio:  At age 18, Vevien died.  Hours later he rose again.  Now a vampire with all the resultant pains and pleasures, his most prevalent goal is to not be killed (resulting in a rational fear of crosses, holy water, priests (Sorry Wilopolis XD), fire and wooden picket fences).  He does however, due to a long and ardurous process, still have a soul -- though he doesn't whine about it nearly as much as Angel.  As such, while his vampiric nature is certainly dominant, he is not a soulless killer, does not kill when he feeds and only feeds when he must.  He is quite self-conscious and defensive of what he is.  While not untrustworthy or evil, he is aware that most people assume he is, so is used to distance.  Though with his inherently dark nature, in this Otherworld, he could very possibly lose it.

(Acceptable?  Great, now I'm at odds with all other players in this -- one is afraid of blood, one is a pastor XD)

(To Mr. Spetsnaz: Heh, don't worry about it. XDD Now you just need to post up what your guy is doing.)

"QUIT IT!!! I don't have what you want! Get away! Get away, get away, get away!!! AWAY!!!!!" He practically screamed at the top of his lungs, backing away, clutching the book tightly. "Err... dyaa, I mean... daa... I haven't... seen anyone... In a while, so... I mean... That fog's been there... as longs as it's been there. Heehehehehe... Soldiers...? Hehehe... I might've seen some... When they came... Those white-smocked girls... Covering themselves in their blood as they tore them apart with their bare hands!! Hehehehehehehe... There's a soldier over there..." He pointed to a bloody pile of flesh, off on the border of their vision. "Some more of him there..." He pointed in another direction. Soon, the sound of a wailing siren echoed through the air, and Alfons turned and sprinted. "They won't get me! I won't let them!!!!!" He was running madly into the town.

Gene reached for his carbine and flicked the safety to single shot. He watched Alfons run away in a frenzy and he didn't like the sounds surrounding him in the fog. He stepped back, his tail instinctively curling around his leg "W-Who's there?" He could hear the steps of someone or something approaching. He kept backing up until his back hit a wall, it was a brick wall that was a good 7 feet high. Damn this isn't good... Gene turned around and jumped up, grabbing the top of the wall and deftly pulling himself up and he stood on top of it, it only being a few inches wide.

The footsteps stopped somewhere just in front of Gene, at the foot of the wall he was perched upon.  There was a grunt and a brief shuffle -- the sound of someone crouching and then jumping -- and a pair black-furred hand grabbed the edge of the wall right beside him; the thing quickly began hoisting itself up towards him grunting, "Help me--" He was rather brutally interrupted as the butt of Gene's carbine struck his face [[Not trying to conrol you...  I just really wanted to use this next line, and it made sense as a reflex XD ]], sending the stranger spiraling back down to the ground with a yelp and a dull thud.

More shuffling from below as the newcomer scrambled back to his feet below, yelling up indignantly (and sounding in pain), "What part of 'HELP ME' did you not understand?!  Oh god, owww...!"

Gene suddenly regretted hitting whoever he did, but he had bigger things to worry about. Gene let his ears do his scouting for him as he closed his eyes and focused on what he could hear. There were only 3 of them, whatever they were. They were slow too, like someone hobbling on a broken ankle without a crutch. He knew these things wouldn't keep up with him.

Gene checked his gun and then jumped back down to help whoever he clubbed just a minute ago.

Vevien slowly rose to his feet rubbing his face with both hands.  He looked up and saw a deep red fox with a rifle standing in front of him...  He eyed the strange fox and warily took a step back, narrowing his eyes suspiciously, "Who are you?  And what, do tell, did I do that was so offensive?" he asked, rubbing his bruised muzzle.  One hand inconspicuously slid back slightly to within snatching distance of his knife, should he end up needing it...

If he heard the approaching somethings, he didn't show it.  Also, disturbingly, Vevien smells heavily of blood -- there doesn't seem to be any viisble on him, but the scent is strong.

Gene flicked on the safety of his rifle and slung it on his back, the butt of it was up on his right side, a tell-tale sigh he was a lefty. "I'm someone who is here to figure out what the hell is going on with this place." Gene said with a certain edge in his voice. Gene picked up on Vevien's scent. It was thick, enough that he could almost taste it--blood, Gene kept himself from shuddering. He also noticed Vivien making a move for his knife and Gene did th same. He didn't know the state of mind of anybody here and he really didn't want to be caught off guard. "And I'm sure if you hear something approaching and you believe to be a threat, you'd hit it in the muzzle too."

Also, they both keep each other level-headed in their current situation. When calm, Mihael is very smart and resourceful, but becomes tactless and irrational when scared, but Kedry (being the good BF he is) is there to coax her into a more ideal mentals state; Kedry is somewhat hot-headed by nature and likely to charge into battle 'with all guns a-blazing', but Mihael is there to put a leach on him before he actually does anything stupid. And on the flipside of the coin, while Mihael is irrational and neurotic when scared, Kedry preforms quite well under periods of great stress. Mihael could do the same, but only when inspired by Kedry. All in all, if they were separated at some point, they'd be screwed...

Mihael opened her eyes expecting to be blinded by some bright light. She lay across a love seat in some waiting area. When she sat up, she to take note of her surroundings: There was a large receptionist's desk directly in front of her. A few potted plants were scattered around to lighten the place up. Dull grey light filtered through the dusty class of the large double doors. She then realized where she was; she was in a hospital.

"Kedry?" she called out; Silence. The young woman rose to her feet and approached the receptionist's desk. "Hello?" she mused. More silence. This didn't make any sense to her. Since when did hospitals close? She brooded over the thought, unable to shake the nagging feeling as though she was being watched. She began to become unsettled by the dark and empty halls, and quickly mad a break for the main doors. She pulled on the doors, they came inward slightly but jerked to a halt. Mihael pulled on the doors a couple more times, but to no avail.

She stood there for a moment, pondering what could be inhibiting the doors from opening. Then a loud clattering behind her tore her from her thoughts, causing her to whirl 180 degrees to see what caused the noise. She immediately became transfixed on the hallway just past the receptionist's desk.

"...Kedry?" she called out, nervosa lingering in her voice. Feeling vulnerable, she crossed her arms and let a nervous sigh escape her lips. She was going to be her for a while...

(Huzzah! More joined!)

Alfons ran through the streets, feeling that feeling overcome... Decay was setting in his surroundings. "Not this..." He looked around, finally setting his eyes on a large building in the distance. "That should be safe..." He ran for it, passing by a fallen sign that read 'Green Haven Hospital'. He didn't notice, in his franticness to leave the streets. He burst through the doors, clutching his 'beloved' book tightly. He could hear something walking, deeper in. He readied the crowbar, heading in. "...Who is there...?" He called. When he looked around, he felt A presence. "Huh...? What...?" An entity, garbed in ragged, bloody robes stood on the ceiling, out of reach of any melee attack, turning a valve slowly, ominously. "It's... him..." He backed up, before sprinting down a hall. He had entered via the 'ER' section of the Hospital, and was now trying to find his way around. He kept in ear out, because something unnatural was afoot, driving him close to the edge of his sanity.

To say that the hospital had underwent a drastic change would be and an understatement...

It started with a wall of sound, crashing down on , shattering the eerie silence of the hospital, and briefly deafening Mihael and giving her a slight migraine. The grey daylight that filtered through the frosted windows disappeared, leaving everything in sight to plunge into darkness. The sirens stopped after a few moments, and Mihael stood in the silent darkness, and the only sound to be heard were the faint huffs and puffs of her labored breathing.

She took her cell phone off of her belt-clip, planning to make use of it as a make-shift torch. After fumbling with the device, she turned it on, using the LCD screen to illuminate the waiting room. Looking around, her stomach knotted at what she saw...

It was like being trapped in a time-lapsed movie with the subject of 'decay' being of interest. She watched as the surroundings seemed to decay, melt, crumble, and collapse right before her. Decades and decades worth of erosion and decay took place in mere second--paint curled in on itself and flaked away, ceiling tiles crumbled away and fell to the floor. The seat cushions of the waiting room chairs melted away like sugar in boiling water. portions of the wooden floor melted away to expose a rusted metal grating, and sheet-rock crumbled away from the walls to reveal newly rusted pipes.

--------------------

Mihael had mustered up the courage the find another way out of this place, seeing as how the front doors (which would have been the only possible way out) had suddenly turned from wood and glass, to rusted steel to theme with the rest of the place. And to add insult to injury, the doors had rusted shut.

Arming herself with a ballpoint pen she lifted from the receptionists' desk, she stepped into the halls, using the LCD screen of her cell phone to light her way. Other than the footfalls of her high heels on the metal grating, it was silent. Too silent, even for this place.

A figure flashed at the end of the hallway, Mihael's heart sank into her stomach. causing her to stop in her tracks. She stood there for a moment, trying to reason away her fear and paranoia, "Is--...Is ANYONE THERE??" She tried to sound demanding, but she couldn't hide the fear in her voice.

He stopped, hearing some muffled shout. He stopped, taking a moment to listen harder, sneaking slowly around the next corner. It was too dark to see, though walking was quite difficult, a disgustingly soft and sticky substance on the floor made rather loud noise as he walked along. He stopped, raising an eyebrow. "Wait... What is that...?" Soft panting came down the hall, footsteps slowly going down a hall as something turned a corner ahead. He followed it as carefully as he could... It's movements were too deliberate, like it was following the shout, but now it's pace picked up as it began to move... Perhaps it located something that excited it or struck fear or aggression? The air was too heavy, he decided, to try to think this through. He followed it, soon seeing some sort of light up ahead... and gasped. "It's one of them...!" The source of the panting revealed itself to be human, well, human-looking, with raven-black hair. It's skin the paleness of a doll, it's movements were almost puppet-like, and it carried a scalpel. Alfons turned to run, but... He then realized he'd need that light, whatever it is, even if it attracts those... things. The 'Nurse' continued approaching the light, before Alfons began to jog after it, brandishing the crowbar.
