So, is anyone going to see this upcoming film? I'm still not sure, i was really interested because of the new CGI and motion capture technology they're using, but it seems a bit cheesy, though unexpectedly it's getting rather good reviews. So what do you think? Surprised there haven't been any discussion of it here yet...

First time I saw the trailer to that movie, I thought "These people remind me of Krystal" because of their clothes and their blue skin. I should really go see that movie some day.

Looks like they're tying to make some money off of the Halo fans without having to get the rights for a Halo movie. Space marines VS aliens... hmmm...

Also, it's pretty obvious that the humans here are the aggressive force, going to a peaceful planet and destroying their capital city for some mineral. The outcome is somewhat predictable.

Still, might be cool to go watch.

I've got a lot of faith in Cameron. He directed two of my all time  favorite movies after all. (First two Terminator movies.)

Not sure if I'll watch it at the cinema. The cinema we have here is hopelessly outdated, extremely cramped if you're tall, and there are always a lot of kids who simply can't shut up for once during the whole movie.

James Cameron wrote the first script for Avatar as early as 1994, several years before Halo was released, so he is'nt so much trying to capitalize on Halo as he is bringing an idea of his to big screen 15 years after conception, which by the time Avatar was released the Halo trilogy was also released; a mere coincidence in other words.

How old is the movie theater in your area?

Yes, Cameron once again at his awesome work, they're using some pretty high technology to film this, there was an article in PopSci...

Ugh, please don't remind me of Halo, it was Halo itself which was un-original. There were many Movies before it that had the same Aliens-Humans approach before HCE, Alien? I'd hate to say it but since the Halo series started, Si-fi was a bit more original, Plus fanboy-free.

And pllluuuussss... anyone see any connections here? :P this story seems more like Dances with Wolves, IMO.

Yeah, I read that he was just waiting for the right technology to come out, right?

I didn't mean to say that he copied halo, just that it seems to appeal to the halo-playing crowd.

And yes, halo isn't the most original game ever, now is it?

after looking into the story a bit, yeah, you're right.

Well that's a given :P. I'm pretty sure you can just look around the internet and watch "Avatar" from a website or watch it from your cable or sattelite TV or whatever if the movie theater is too cramped for you.

The CGI in Avatar looks pretty complicated, so I suppose that's why James Cameron waited 15 years to release the film. Had he released Avatar between 1996 and 1999 (movies tend to be released between 2-5 years after it's script is written) the characters would've all been puppets or cartoonish CGI and the film would've fell into the abyss that most mid-late 90's films fell into. I guess that explains why Cameron waited so long.

I want to see it myself, but the opinion of this film from what I've heard is "Nice effects, but otherwise crap." Same with the game.

A bit of a pet peeve of mine is that the film is 99% cg, or something like that. If that's the case, why not go all out and just fully animate the thing so that the effects never date?

Oh, on a related note (and I'm sure this will anger or please krystal fans) the blue tribal character designs were made when cameron requested the design team to "Make them fuckable".

*drools at that thought of Krystal and the AVATAR female tribal characters made that way*

I'm gonna try to see that movie ASAP.

"How can mountains float?"

I knew there was a REAL reason behind the scantily-clad blue aliens.

I just saw it today, it wasn't totally CGI like Transbominations, but it had a decent storyline which we haven't totally seen several billion times. Especally during the 1800's in America.

So straight-out, it was OK for me, alot better than some movies this year. It was borderlining "average" to "great" in my opinion. The Krystal fans...? don't get me started please...

Also, a quick bit, don't try to sit as close as you can to the screen, it hurts your eyes...

Oh, and one thing, it seemed when he switched to his "avatar" stage and his human stage, both seemed diffrent. However, to me during the end when the two forces collided, it turned out kind of nicely. Either that or my eyes were fried due to how close I was sitting. :P

When I saw the first teaser for the Avatar movie, it showed the bald-headed monk kid doing his traditional stuff and helicopters coming around the temple on the mountains, then being blow away by a wall of wind, or something.  I thought to myself that this was going to be a good movie, then as time progressed, it changed from a monk kid to blue tribal people.  My only reaction was, "...What the hell?  A regular monk kid trans-fubulates into a blue tribal person with flying winged thingies?  ...I don't know if that's FUBAR or just something."

Afterwards, I just had to think this:  "What does FUBAR mean, anyways?"  Goes to show how much my brain works lol
