Blind

Blindness has come up a few times recently. As someone who's entrie life, dreams, career and creativity involves computers, if I ever lost my sight I might as well be dead. I don't think I could cope with being blind. Could you?

I'm on the same train as you, I work with computers , if I were to lose my sight, I would need to use other resources , like braille (however is spelled) keyboards and probably a lot of voice recognition  programs. It would be hard, but life won't be over, my other senses should become better, or that's what I guess.

To tell the truth, sight would be the last sense I would choose to lose.

It's a myth that people senses get better when deaf, blind ect, they still have the same range as before, but you learn to pay alot of attention to them. There's even blind people who can use a simple form of echo loction. ie using clicking sounds to detect large objects.

Even so, I only know of 1 game for the blind, and it's rubbish.

Blind people can "see" more than we can ;)

Also I agree with ~Steve~, life isn't over if you're blind, you can still work with computers, just a lot different...

No, I can't. I'm an animator, technician and game maker. All 3 of which you need eyes for as far I can see.

hehehe

My life is airplanes, so If I were to lose my eyesight, my life as I know it right now would be over. Maybe I'd become a monk or philosopher or something.

You still need to be able to see to fly by instruments... but my biggest fear is that I wouldn't be able to see my beautiful airplanes!

I don't think I could cope with becoming blind, but even less if I broke my back and became fully paralyzed. That is my biggest and only fear.

An exageration. I think he means only realistic fear. Being quaded would be bad. If it weren't for hippies, that wouldn't be a problem these days.

You are right , one of the reasons why I wanted to become a pilot when I was younger was because of the diferent (and cool) look of aircraft. And no, I am not a pilot but I still like the cool looks of airships. And yeah there are lots of instruments and equipment which you can not use if you are blind.

Not to mention that you will have EXTREME dificulty landing/taking off, and even doing a simply task such as flying to a waypoint (because with not eyes, you can not see that hill ahead, and you would pretty much crash onto it)
