Interesting animal sightings.

I'll start.

I was taking my cat for a walk, when suddenly, she kinda walks up this hill then instantly goes low to the ground. we had startled a raccoon. Any other time I would have been interested in the raccoon, but at this time I just ran with my cat outta there worried about her safety. Cut our walk short, only made it to the next door neighbors house up the hill. I don't see to many wild animals, so this was pretty exciting even if raccoon's are a pretty common sight. Also on a walk with my mother earlier, there was the smell only a skunk would make, wouldn't wanna run into that:) Apparently today was when all the skunk's mate, so maybe there was two. I'd like to see em, but not to sniff em.

Just post times where you've seen some interesting animals you don't see every day.

Well, I sometime meets moose or deers while I'm driving, and I've meet both lynxes and wolfes on a few occasions.

Besides, several hundreds, if not thousands of foxes. Only a handfull living free in the wild tough.

Lucky the most rare thing i've seen is  a dear I want to see a Fox or something....

You were wise to exercise caution around the raccoon. They may look cute, but they'll turn vicious in a heartbeat if they feel threatened.

I live in a small town wildlife sanctuary, bordering a national forest.

We've had sightings of

bears

raccoons

skunks

opossums

cougars (aka mountain lions)

bobcats

deer

wild rabbits

quail

foxes

snakes

owls

red tail hawks

I never saw the bears, but I saw all the other critters I listed.

Foxes/Vixens? I thought a vixen was a female fox. Am I wrong, is it something specific?

It seems strange to me that the fox is the only species on that list that you differentiated by gender.

Come to think of it, I've come across badgers as well. One should be extremely catious around those. They like biting off fingers from what I've heard.

And we have a grudge on foxes after they raided the henhouse. It had tried several times before, but had always been stopped by our chief cock, which easily tipped the scales at over 10 kg at his heaviest. Then, he died of old age, and all the hens got eaten by the fox half a year later.

i've saw: bunnies, a snake, a tiny wild monkey, owls... and some i didn't remembered the name.

An odd shrimp that has the capability of breaking your finger

and a scorpion that I kid you not, was over a foot long from tail tip to claws, tiny claws too, which means it has a very potent venom.

Heheh, Yeah, I wouldn't walk up to it or anything, but I would have watched it do whatever it was doing if my cat wasn't there. Around here someone must be feeding them, they are pretty... not vicious, we've had one at our glass door practically begging for food. Still, I'd hate to get one angry.

Badgers are so cool They make those weird grunting noises, but yeah, they are pretty scary, seen em on T.V.

I've seen foxes and deer while I was driving before. I've had a possum run out in front of me, before, too. Steve was in the car with me, but he probably doesn't remember.

We have rabbits EVERYWHERE. And chickens. I've seen a lot of hawks and robins and cardinals, too. <: We have a lot of pretty birds. We have quail and geese and dove, too.

Countless fish. (we have a Bass Pro Shops, they have an aquarium.)

I saw a fox on the road one time while we were driving.  I also saw a roadrunner when me and my family were driving to Seattle.  I don't know what state we were in when I saw it.

ive seen a fox before it was weird it came very close to me and another day i almost got attack by a pack of wolfs!
