The KFC Double Down Sandwich- DON'T DO IT

Ugghh, so I decided to try that controversial new sancwich from KFC- "The Double Down" (which, for those who aren't familiar with it, is bacon, cheese, and special sauce sandwiched between two boneless fried chicken breasts. Yeah, you heard me. The chicken takes the place of bread. Bread is for wusses, this sandwich is too badass.) I do not recommend it. Don't get me wrong, it tastes good...at first, but in a guilty "if this is so wrong, then why does it taste so good?" kind of way. Then you get halfway through and it's sort of like you're eating a grease sandwich. A delicious grease sandwich, but still grease nonetheless. I couldn't even finish it because I was certain I would clog at least one major artery if I did so. Then you spend the entire day feeling like you swallowed a medicine ball made of congealed grease and shame. Try it if you must, but be warned...

Anyone else try this monstrosity yet?

I wonder what's worse for you. This or Wendy's "Baconator."

Double Down:

2x Boneless chicken breast (grilled or fried)

2x Strip of Bacon

1x Slices of Monterrey Jack Cheese

1x Slice of Pepper Jack Cheese

"Colonel's Sauce"

Nutritional Info:

Grilled: 460kcal, Fat - 23g, Sodium - 1430mg

Fried: 540kcal, Fat - 32g, Sodium - 1380mg

NOTE: I am using the true units for calories. "Calories" (capital C) is marketing speak for Killoclaories, kcal.

Baconator:

2x Beef patty

2X slice of American cheese

6x Strip of bacon

1x Wendy's Hamburger Bun

Ketchup

Nutritional Info:

970kcal, fat - 60g, sodium - 2260mg

For a more apples-to-apples comparison:

Burger King Tendercrisp Sandwich

1x Hamburger Bun

1x Boneless Chicken Breast, fried

Lettuce

Tomato

Mayonnaise

NI:

780kcal, Fat - 43g, Sodium - 1730ml

McDonald's McChicken

1x Processed Chicken Patty

1x Hamburger Bun

Lettuce

Mayonnaise

NI

360kcal, Fat - 16g, Sodium - 830ml

Interestingly, the McDonald's sandwich is the healthiest...

Surprisingly, the double-down looks to be healthier than Burger King's Tendercrisp sandwich... Makes me wonder what BK is doing to their chicken...

Seems like the biggest one to avoid here is the Wendy's Baconator, or as I like to call it, the Heart Attack on a Bun.

Gagh, even how good that actually sounds, just the tought of it done in all that fastfood grease gets all my arteries to clog up.

I wanna try it anyways, I take Fish oil and 2 garlic supplements, so I'm not worried, plus I walk about the equivalent of 2 miles a day or so.

As some people say:

"Eat Right, exercise, DIE ANYWAY!" xD

Actually, it's recommended you walk at least 10000 steps a day to keep yourself in a nice, healthy condition. So 2 miles is still on the small side, unless each of your steps are about a foot long.

I do about that many a day just pacing around my house....

...like a madhouse inmate, or a caged animal.

I also drink 6 eight ounce glasses of water (or more) a day.

Doing stuff like that lets you enjoy things like the Baconnator, or the Double Down Sammich.

:krystal: "Oi!  That Double Down Sandwich is right delicious, it is!"

Anyone else suddenly hungery?

ANyway. I'm a McDs double cheeseburger guy. Expencive, but so nice. If I have to eat at BK (only place open late) then it's a bacon double cheese burger.

Do takeaways count as fast food? If so, add a sausage lot with gravy to that list.

The KFC D.D.S. Sounds good but I'll pass. I'm trying to cut Fast-Food for a LONG time, Mainly having the exception of KFC Popcorn chicken or Chik-Fil-A sandwich on certain occasions. Such as late supper after BaseBall etc. That, and the majority of FF-R's(fast food places) Spit in your food. That grease on the bun isn't grease people...I haven't eaten "real" fast food since I moved into my new home back in October 2009. For I don't consider KFC and C-F-A fast food since they mainly serve chicken. My theory: If it doesnt have burgers it's not fast food.

When there wasn't any bread in a SANDWICH I completely ignored it.  I'm glad I did  :D A little off topic, but Chick-Fil-A makes THE BEST chicken sandwiches!
